Wildflower Wanderlust

2 sites · Tents20 acres · Sturgeon Bay, WI
After purchasing the 'Feest Farm' 18 years ago I dedicated time to create an oasis of gardens and meadows that has become my personal sanctuary. My hopes are that visitors enjoy all aspects of my property as much as I do. Learn more about this land: You can choose to set up camp in the meadow or near the gardens. In the meadow you will find paths that you can stroll through throughout the property where you can you bird watch and observe Wisconsin's natural prairie and vegetation. The open field area provides more room whether it's to throw a frisbee, bask in the sun or play some competitive yard games with your family and friends. Regardless of where you set up camp, you can enjoy your morning coffee in the secret flower garden or a nightcap next to the fire under the grape covered arbor while watching the night stars. Feeling adventurous? The Ahnapee trail is an old railroad trail that is now a hiking and biking path that extends from Sturgeon Bay to Kewaunee. The Ahnapee Trail is 1.5 miles down the road. Also located within miles is the Ahnapee River, which is ideal for canoeing and kayaking.

The best camping near Peninsula State Park guide

Overview

About

Hike to Eagle Bluff to see the historic lighthouse that oversees this part of Green Bay. Bring your binoculars and camera for the most beautiful view in this entire Wisconsin state park. The lighthouse, built in 1868, is pretty cool, too.

Launch your boat and head to Horseshoe Island out in the bay. There, you'll see foundations of buildings from the 1890s. A hiking trail takes you all around the island. The only way to get here is by private boat.

Bike through 5.1 miles of woods thanks to Sunset Bike Trail. The trail is paved and has gravel, which makes it easy to follow. Dangle your feet in the bay after your ride to cool off. Find a secluded spot along the 8 miles of shoreline.

Practice your golf game at the 18-hole golf course. Many golfers consider this course to be the most scenic in Wisconsin. Watch out for the pesky 8th hole. It's just 69 yards, but you have to fire a shot over a bluff and onto the green.

Five campgrounds contain 468 sites. Reserve yours early!

Notable campgrounds

  • Weborg Point Campground - Offers a serene camping experience near the water, perfect for fishing enthusiasts.
  • Nicolet Bay Campground - Ideal for families, with easy access to a sandy beach and boat rentals.
  • Tennison Bay Campground - Provides a peaceful retreat with spacious sites and stunning sunset views.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early, as sites fill up quickly, especially during peak summer months.
  • Consider visiting during the week for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellations for last-minute opportunities.
  • Explore nearby camping options to ensure you have a backup plan.

When to go

The best time to visit Peninsula State Park is from May to October when the weather is warm and all park facilities are open. Winter offers a quiet, snowy retreat, but some amenities may be closed, and the cold can be challenging.

Know before you go

  • Ensure your vehicle has a valid admission sticker before entering the park.
  • Check the park's calendar for any special events or closures during your visit.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for hiking trails and rocky shorelines.
  • Be mindful of park hours, open from 6am to 11pm year-round.
  • Take advantage of the park's nature center and picnic areas for a complete day out.
