Join us in our cabin overlooking the saltwater at the mouth of Turner Bay. In September we will have high water almost all day. Which makes for great bird watching (10/23 the eagles are back) and exciting deck time. This is a family property with the host on site in the main house. The cabin is really cozy as we have an HVAC system so you can stay warm in the winter months, and cool in the summer. This unique property's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, crabbing; and fishing (seasonal), Birding, bicycling and playing on the beach, high tide twice a day brings in all sorts of wildlife as well as the occasional message in a bottle. For small craft (kayak or canoe) boating from here the most accurate tide chart is La Conner Wash. There must be a high tide to get in or out of our little bay. https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/noaatidepredictions.html?id=9448558 We are located very close to many amenities. Some of which you need to call ahead to arrange. For instance, rock climbing, or kayak rentals. You will find the Swinomish Casino and golf course within two miles. Or spend time exploring the little shops and local entertainment in the small towns of Anacortes and La Conner. You can also take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a scenic ferry ride out of Anacortes. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, or our cats Poly and Minnie, we also have several chickens that provide us with eggs most of the time. Also on the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Shawn who lives in a retro build bus at the north end. Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! Our property has hosted many events, such as weddings, family reunions, company picnics, a music festival, and life celebrations. If you are interested, please let us know. We are always evolving our land to share with others.Open all year round! **During freezing weather, we will have to turn the water off** This very private small (210sq ft +loft) cabin is nestled in the bamboo. It sits above the tide flats with a wraparound deck. The wall facing the beach is almost all windows with a long view of the bay. There is a new heat and air conditioning unit. There is also a full kitchen, with hot and cold water, a sink, a new four-burner propane stove with oven. A refrigerator, coffee pot and a toaster. A queen Murphy bed with bedding and a twin loft with mattress, sheets and blankets provided. An adjoining private bathroom with shower, shampoo, soap, towels and a compost toilet. Surrounded by beach, bamboo and our gardens, a wonderful place to relax.

Bamboo Cabin
great stay!
it was really lovely. enough space for two, good views, very close to Anacortes and easy to find. if you are anti-outhouse, this is not the place for you. we were fine with the compostable toilet, infact I thought it was cool, but it's definitely different. v comfy bed. unfortunately the keys were not included which was a little unnerving. even though it wasn't in a densely populated area, it was a little sketchy to know that we were unable to lock the door to the cabin that has all our things inside. overall, definitely recommend the cabin.

Bamboo Cabin
This was a super neat place to stay while we checked out the area and visited friends living nearby. Lots of great nature areas within a 10-15 minute drive, too. The cabin was comfy and had nice views (and a cool composting toilet). Nancy was great (gave a nice intro to the space and was nice to chat with as well) and Turner the dog is very sweet. Thanks for an easy and pleasant stay!

Lovely spot for a 2-night stopover
Nancy was a friendly and kind host.l, and the cabin was lovely. It had everything you need. We particularly enjoyed our morning coffees/teas on the deck. I highly recommend the bamboo cabin, and hope to stay here again in the future!

Bamboo Cabin
Cozy, simple, natural and friendly
We had a peaceful stay. We had hoped for rest and rejuvenation, communion with nature and felt welcomed by our host Nancy, who took time to show us the property, trees she had planted, garden and projects. Our dogs were also welcome and the acreage provided room to explore with them. We opted to keep them on leash due to the fairly busy adjacent road, loose chickens and enticing mud, but if your dogs have excellent recall, don’t love the mud and low prey drive then off leash is an option. The property is fenced but not escape proof if your dog tends to roam they could get up the road. We felt cozy and welcome at this unique and special place, not fancy but clean and simple. Easy to get to. Good stargazing and birdwatching too. Nice deck! Thank you!

Bamboo Cabin
Everything was as described. Nancy is lovely and gives you the run-down on arrival. It was the perfect base for our exploring of LaConner, kayaking out of Larabee, driving and exploring Chuckanut Drive and exploring Bellingham. It is easy to get to and you will have options to explore or just sit on the peaceful deck looking out on the marsh/tide flat.
