Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Wide open fields, ponds, and gardens to explore. We grow lavender, herbs, lots of flowers, and trees. We have a panoramic view of the Canadian mountains and the wooded valley below. We never get tired of the scenery and agree that home is our vacation spot. We are happy to share this little slice of paradise with tent travelers and look forward to meeting folks from far and wide. We offer a large flat lawn area that can accommodate a couple of tents and for those who love more solitude there are plenty of places to pitch a tent in the fields. There is a flat picnic area with tables and a barbeque. For the competitive types we offer an old fashioned horse shoe toss. For the plant lovers just a walk through the garden looking at all of the plants and flowers is enjoyable. There is a huge old maple tree with a tree swing. We are about 3 miles from Birch Bay National Park, water slides, beach combing, bike riding or just waiting for the sunset. For the motorcyclists, there are endless roads to travel from Birch Bay to Mt. Baker, Sumas, and Chuckanut Dr. Lynden and Bellingham are within 20 miles of us, Ferndale and Blaine, and the Canadian border are less than 10 miles. We offer an indoor kitchen and bathroom plus a community room in case of bad weather stocked with games and videos. The kitchen has ample room to prepare meals, cook, and clean up. There is a microwave available and refrigerator to keep food cold and safe from the heat. Also, for just a little bit of home there is a Keurig Coffee pot and plenty of pods to help get you going in the morning. The bathroom is small but has a shower and toilet and is stocked with towels. We are on a septic tank and ask that everyone reads and abides by the rules. Back In Thyme Shop offers a variety of handmade soaps, herbal salves, lotions, and insect repellants as well as handmade quilts and travel bags.

Cozy Corner
We enjoyed camping at Patty and Dennis' site. The views were stunning, the sites - private enough and spacious, and our son loved the old-fashioned swing and corn hole game. The shared shower, kitchen, bbq, access were helpful, too, with some of vintage charm. Patty and Lily Pad were welcoming. It's a great location on the way to Canada. Would stop here again.

Gorgeous views!
Stunning sunsets and sunrises with mountain backdrop. Patty was a gracious host and we enjoyed having some indoor space after multiple days of tent camping.

Vista View
Great host and lovely location
Patty was so pleasant and the camping site was great. It was a great big lawn area with trees on both the east and west ends. We set up on the west end for evening shade, but in hindsight I might have tried the east side closer to the house as the morning shade lasted longer. The kitchen and bathroom are not large, but we shared it with another family and it was fine. You just have to be courteous and it works out. We enjoyed the time there and it was a good jumping off point for a day trip to Canada and down to Birch Bay. There is a little train noise but it wasn’t too close or bothersome. We heard owls and coyotes so that made up for the trains. :)

Had a great time relaxing, taking in the view of the mountains and sunsets. Great location, Close to parks and Birch Bay State Park. Not quite glamping, but close. Patty & Dennis are great hosts. And I got to do a little shopping.

Vista View
Tranquil and fully loaded camp site
My family including 2 kids had a wonderful time at Back in Thyme! The hosts were so gracious and accommodating, offering us fresh baked cookies as soon as we arrived, as well as good conversation and anything we might need. The campsite Vista View was spacious, flat and grassy with a lovely view of the sunset and mountains every evening. It definitely felt like time slowed down and it was so peaceful and idyllic. We loved that it wasn’t exactly roughing it either - with a fridge, running water/sink, full kitchen and bathroom. Great launch pad for various sites around such a Birch Bay state park and Bellingham.
