Within a 60-minute drive from the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station.
The camp area is within 264 acres that includes forest and grassy areas with a pond and a creek. Camping spots are available in the forest or in the meadow adjacent to the forest within a short distance from the retreat house. Campers may use the two bathrooms in the public area of the retreat house Wildlife abounds. Frogs, turtles, birds, the occasional deer and other forest creatures. We also have 5 cows pasturing on the property. We are a practicing ecumenical, monastic community that prays together three times daily. Campers are welcome to join us in our prayers.This site has open camping in lush forest terrain bordered by gentle meadow. The forested and meadow areas are walking distance from facilities available at the nearby retreat house. The grassy meadow is accessible for small to medium travel trailers. A pond and dock are nearby to enjoy as well as hiking trails and a creek deeper in the woods. Along the driveway is our stable where we care for five cows currently in residence. We hope to expand our pasturing to include goats and sheep very soon. The wildflower and small animal population is extensive and endlessly entertaining for the curious among us. Campers are welcome at our sung prayer three times every day. Visitors who stay a while frequently report feeling better. This land, originally inhabited by the Monacan Tribe, exudes a sense of peace and tranquility.
Nearby, Louisa and Mineral, both about 20 min. from here, have restaurants, shops, parks and more. We are less than an hour from Richmond or Charlottesville with many interesting destinations in between. You can visit the beautiful Lake Anna State Park in 45 min. and the James River is nearby.
