The Gypsy Rose
This place is absolutely amazing. the property is stunning. our directions did route us to the neighbors driveway so make sure you're pulling into the driveway that says Lazy farm. the gypsy rose was surprisingly super comfortable. slept like a baby. they provided wood for the fire which was very kind. outhouse was clean and spacious. would recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful farm & hill-top campsite
We loved getting to see the farm animals and swim in the gorgeous and clear river on the property. We had a really special time meeting the friendly goats, dogs, horses, cats, and chickens. The swim spot was wonderfully calm and clear, I couldn't believe how blue and transparent the water was. The camp site felt private and spacious and we loved getting to watch the sunrise over the mountains. I would strongly recommend this site for anyone with a 4wd, however without one we really struggled to get all of our coolers and gear up the hill. Where you park your car is at the bottom of a very steep dirt/gravel road that was a very strenuous trek for a few of us with knee issues and asthma. Similarly the driveway would be best used by a 4wd or a vehicle with high clearance. If you don't have a car that can make it up the hill, I'd recommend packing pretty light - you will not want to take any more trips then you need to :)

Site 2 - Tent Camping in the majestic trees
Overall, we enjoyed this space! The site was spacious and well-maintained. Getting to the site was a bit difficult, but fortunately, our vehicle could handle it because it would have been a lengthy and steep walk! The two sites are close together, but we were lucky enough to be the only campers during our trip. Access to the river, firewood, and water spigot wasn't super clear, but the host was extremely responsive and answered our questions. It's a nice home base especially if you are planning to explore surrounding nature. Lots of trails and activities about 20 minutes away at Douthat State Park!

This site is a great chance to see if your AWD vehicle actually works! We had a Subaru Crosstrek and Outback, which both made it up but not without some struggle. You probably wouldn’t want to attempt anything lower to the ground than that. Otherwise, you can walk up. Booked this as a friend and I were passing through the area and it’s a beautiful campsite with a fire ring and small wooden table. You’re up high, so views in multiple directions if you get there before leaves are on the trees. Pretty working farm complete with some cute dogs and a rooster (I think) to wake you up in the morning. I wish we had more time to spend here!

If you want to get away from daily life and get more in touch with the natural world this place is definitely it. Amazing views and the air is so crisp. The drive there is even amazing. I do recommend taking a 4 wheel drive vehicle it’ll make it a lot easier. But even if you have to carry some of your stuff up it still feels like an accomplishment. I can’t wait til me and the fam come again.
