One day, my husband and I were laying in the grass of my grandmother's backyard waiting for her and our kids to get home.  My husband asked "When was the last time you laid in the grass like this?"  We thought back to when we were little.  Both our parents had land.  That brought back such fond memories for us.  We decided lets get some land.  Being the resourceful person I am, I went straight to the green sheets at our favorite Chinese Restaurant.  We've been clearing & improving ever since.  Our kids absolutely loved growing up there on the weekends.  The place is named after my grandmother.  Her name was "Honey".We are somewhat secluded having 15 Acres of Wooded Rolling Land with a 4 Acre Swimming Pond.  We opened our land to visitors to meet new people and share our place with other Nature Lovers.  We treat our place more like a retreat.  Not quite Glamping but definitely not totally roughing it.  If you want to be secluded, site 3 is just right for you.  If you want to be a little more social then site 1 or 2 would be more your speed.   We have a wide variety of wildlife, including Bald Eagles.  If you want to venture out we are about 5 Minutes from Lake Livingston and about 15-20 minutes away from the closest town just in case you forgot something.  There is a great Pizza Place in Onalaska named Simple Simon's.  There a few convenient stores and a Dollar Store a few minutes away.  We are also near Sam Houston National Forest.  For Cyclists or Motorcycles there are some extremely nice nearby long sweeping and winding roads that are fun to ride.  If while out running around there are 2 nice icehouses close by.  One is on 190 (The Hill Top) and the other is on 156 (The Bullet).  One of our Guests told us about some very nice walking/hiking trails in Livingston State Park which is only about 30 minutes from us. We face north & the breeze blows across water onto our property, which helps us keep a little cooler.  In the early morning fog rolls around on the water, moving in and out of the cove.  The birds start waking up and singing songs to start the day off right.  In the background you might hear the Cows mooing and 1 Lonely Donkey that thinks his a cow.  His "moo" is a little awkward.  During the day there is Swimming, Horse Shoes, Darts and Hammocks for napping.  Just Before Dark the Bats come out while being serenaded by the Frogs.  Then if the sky is clear the stars are amazing. Camp Site 1 is semi secluded but still close to everything.  Camp Site 2 is near the water in a nestle of trees and closest to the communal amenities.  Site 2 can only be booked in conjunction with site 1 or when booking the entire area for larger groups.  Camp Site 3 is very secluded and not so close to the communal amenities, but sports its own fire pit, table with chairs and charcoal cooker but still very much welcome in the communal area.  The pavilion is equipped with an Outdoor Propane Kitchen and Electricity.  On the pavilion is plenty of seating, a charcoal grill table, fans, lights and a refrigerator.  In the middle of a common area is a 100 year old electrified 20' street lamp which can be lit for a little extra ambiance.  There is an 8' Fire Pit with chairs to sit around at night or day.   Watching the Large Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Green Perch and Tilapia from the deck by the water is like looking into an aquarium.  The water stays fairly cool to cold and clear all year round.  Swimming is definitely a must.  Upon request we can anchor a large float in the center of the pond.  The center at its deepest is about 15' and in the coves the depth ranges from 2' to 8'.  We have a Jon Boat and 2 paddle boats to take a whirl around the pond.  Also heading out to Lake Livingston to go Fishing or just a Boat Ride isn't bad idea either.  A FREE Boat Launch is on the West side of the 190 Big Bridge.  A Paid Marina/Boat Launch is on the East Side.   There's an place named "Pine Island" were the locals drop anchor to party on the beach for the day.   During the weekends we are on site and readily available.  We have a weekend neighbor that shares the pond with us.  They also rent their place.  If you choose to stay during the week you might get the place all to yourself but we are still reachable.

The Honey Hole
Fantastic family time
Beautiful setup! The site is well setup for families looking for a nice balance between a “traditional”tent-camping experience and “glamping”. Private and serene, this location has a nice sized pond with plenty of fish to target, a range of possible tent locations, and a covered deck with an amazing amount of space for lounging, and a surprising amount of cooking and grilling equipment (smoker, gas BBQ, fajita table, searing surface, gas burners, and a large hibachi-like grilling surface). Had an amazing 4 days there - thanks to the owners Robin and Steve!

The Honey Hole
This is our new fav place to camp! It has it all. We spent 3 amazing nights and 2.5 days enjoying all the amenities. Even with the rain off and on each day it was the perfect getaway for us and our 3 girls. The hosts are exceptional and we can’t wait to return soon!!!!

The Honey Hole
We had an excellent time! The hosts were welcoming and friendly - very responsive and helpful when needed. The property was the perfect mix of “roughing it” and “comfortable accommodation”. The covered outdoor kitchen made meals easy and provided cover from the few passing rain storms we encountered. The pond and surrounding woods are beautiful...the nature trail made for a great adventure for the young kids. It was too cold for us for swimming but the boats and fishing made for wonderful entertainment. Our 5 and 7 year old kids said it was the best trip they have ever been on! We have every intention of going back. Thanks for adventure!

Beautiful piece of land
The Honey Hole is simply amazing! The area is very nice, clean and peaceful. The lake is beautiful, with clear water and plenty of fish. Robin was very attentive and made sure all of our questions were answered. Chairs, fire pit, BBQ, gas stove and kitchen utensils were available. Great place for a family getaway. We will be coming back, for sure!
