Beautiful land in the Chihuahua desert north of the Christmas mountains and south of the famous 9 point Mesa. Just north of Mexico and 30 min from Big Bend National park and The Terlingua ghostown . West Texas. Off grid small house running on solar power and rain water catchment. Very cozy. Plenty of land for camping also. Mr. Keaveny built the house himself over a 10 year period.Now the new bathroom is available in the casa de Keaveny. Beautiful hot shower and flush toilet. You can camp anywhere around the cabin and walk to the porch in 30 seconds and and sit in the shade and enjoy strong WiFi. A composting toilet is also very near. In the warm months you can use a solar bag show to clean up or go to the Terlingua Ranch Lodge 12 miles away for a free hot shower where there is a beautiful pool and a restaurant

Jim has built a beautiful cabin on this quiet, secluded piece of desert property. The home is beautiful and as snug as you'd wish for a winter getaway to Big Bend. Solar power for nighttime lighting and good wifi. Rain water cachement, with a Berkey for filtration. Since we went to the park everyday we focused on additional conservation by bringing some collapsible beverage travelers and grabbing a couple of gallons at the spigot at Panther Junction. It's always good to have extra water in your car out here, anyway! The sunsets are beautiful, the stargazing excellent, and it's overall quite peaceful. The property is about 5 minutes from Jackass Flats, a convenience store, and 20 from Terlingua, the closest source for gas. This was our second stay here, and I look forward to coming back again. Jim is a considerate host and checked in via text throughout our stay. If you appreciate wild spaces you will love this spot!
