Frog Pond Tent Camp

1 site · Tent18 acres · Adamsville, TN
This 18 acre homestead is conveniently located right on Hwy 64, only 7 miles from the Stantonville Amish community; Shiloh Battlefield and archaeological site; and Savannah, TN. The town of Adamsville (home of Sheriff Buford Pusser!) is only 1.5 miles away, for convenient access to grocery and gas stations. There's a 1-acre spring fed pond at the back of the property that's great for swimming, sitting and relaxing, or even fishing (though there's not much in there but perch!) We maintain a 1-mile loop path around our pastures perfect for an early morning or evening stroll, and there is a small 4-5 acre wood guests are also welcome to explore. There is a designated campfire area, and we kindly ask guests not to burn fires at their campsite. In addition to our new flower field and personal vegetable garden, the farm is home to one retired musician (me); one super cool shih tzu (Sirius); and 24 chickens. And we can't wait to share this lovely space with you.

Lazy Acres Lake

9 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Lexington, TN
Lazy Acres Lake is located 11 miles from interstate 40 in the beautiful farming community of Chesterfield, Tennessee. We have an abundance of wildlife including our own team of Khaki Campbell guard ducks and a piebald whitetail buck named Lucky who enjoys hanging out by the levee. Lake access is included with each site reservation. Life jackets required at all times for those with paddle please. Camp sites 1-3, the boat ramp and main parking area are located at the main entrance and offer gravel roads and parking. Look for the LAL logo on the left gate post. Camp site #4 the hiking trailhead and our back country campsites are located at the east entrance. Look for patriotic fence post near the road. If you end up traveling a long paved road that leads to a boat ramp with lots of parking, you zigged when you should have zagged. Turn around and lazy acres is across from where that road ends. Follow the access road along the tree line down to the water. The hiking trail is to the east across the footbridge. Look for white AT style blazes for trail markers. The blue blazes leading to each campsite. * All gates are open 24 hours when campers are present.

The best camping near Shiloh National Military Park guide

Overview

About

Among the serene rolling hills of southern Tennessee, this battlefield saw 23,746 casualties. This was more than the total American casualties in all previous wars combined. More than 110,000 troops met in an epic struggle for control of the Confederacy.

The Battle of Shiloh was a miserable experience on a massive scale. Among the miles of nature trails and paved roads are monuments to fallen heroes. Obelisks and statues show where key events of the two-day battle took place. A 12.7-mile auto tour route has 20 tour stops. Visit such famous places as the Peach Orchard, the Hornet's Nest, and the Albert Sidney Johnston death site.

Amid the monuments are preserved artifacts. View earthen fortifications where units tried to protect their positions. Cabins and buildings served as places to hide from the fierce volleys of gunfire. Cannon placements show where artillery tried to bombard enemy positions.

South of Shiloh lies Corinth, Mississippi. The town harbors another battlefield site, historic homes used by Civil War generals, and more fortifications. Corinth held a key railroad junction through the southern territory. This was the main target of Union troops at Shiloh. Controlling the railroad paved the way for an eventual invasion of the Confederacy.

Nearby campsites provide a home base for a fantastic vacation. Take time out from your nature hikes and mountain climbs to learn about a pivotal Civil War battle.
