Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has a small store where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is a neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. If you are arriving by motorcycle, you can park it in or behind the barn at the entrance. You can walk up a path that is a lot shorter than the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.Dogwood Cabin is an Off Grid experience. No power, no water, no bathroom, no internet, no cell service. It was built by talented Amish teens that wanted a cabin of their own with lumber they cut and milled themselves. It boosts a unique spiral stairway to the loft that has a full and 3 twin mattresses. No linens provided. Bring sleeping bags or hammocks (for outdoor sleeping). A wraparound porch makes for comfortable outdoor living even in rain. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. The kitchenette has a few cooking pots, dishes, mugs, tongs, knives, coffee pot. A propane camping stove with 2 burners. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill. In colder weather it will not be cozy. Bring flashlights or lantern. There are 2 battery lanterns and a candle. The lanterns should last 6 hours on low. Use sparingly. Expect nature to be true to form - bugs and bees like it at the cabin too. There are deer, turkey, coyotes, squirrels, lots of birds and other animals around. It’s lovely to sit around the fire and listen to the twitter, cooing, hoots and howls of the creatures God created. Bring water in jugs, to drink, wash, and douse the fire. The Amish neighbors are friendly and helpful. The Welcome book has a list of restaurants, a cave nearby, covered bridge, etc. You can order baked goods from Polly. There are 25 acres to hike. A creek closeby lends a soothing lullaby.

Dogwood Cabin
We had a really peaceful stay at Dogwood Cabin! The cabin was pristine and exactly as advertised. We enjoyed the porch swing, walking the trails on the property and the small conveniences (provided cookware, plates/utensils, cook stove, lanterns, etc). It was the perfect spot to disconnect and relax!

Excellent cabin
We had a great time at the Dogwood cabin! The loft was cozy, the propane stove worked great, and there was plenty of firewood. We left wishing we had booked two nights instead of one. :)

Dogwood Cabin
Best Cabin I've Ever Seen
This was the cleanest, most beautiful and well-built cabin I've stayed in in my entire life. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights during a trip through Ohio and, although the widespread lack of cell service in the area was initially a bit unnerving, I couldn't have felt safer. The pathway to the outhouse (which was extremely clean and smelled only of cedar) and surrounding cabin were comfortably lit at night by solar lights, and two charged up lanterns were provided by the host for general use. The cabin itself, also built from cedar, was airtight and entirely bug-free. The host also compiled a list of businesses, delis, and attractions in the area which made navigating with minimal service much easier. If you have an AWD car that can make it up the somewhat steep gravel road leading up to the cabin, I highly suggest staying here.

Dogwood Cabin
We stayed 4th of July weekend. The cabin is exactly as listed! Clean, comfortable, and supplied with the basics. The land is wonderful! Very peaceful, and secluded. The outhouse is very clean, and does not smell bad at all. Things to consider/bring! A small camp table for cooking by the fire Wet wipes A battery operated fan if sleeping on the loft during summer A last note! I believe some bees may be living near/under the porch. My dog got stung 3 times at once when he walked past that area. Luckily I carry benadryl because he has allergies anyways- but just a note incase you are allergic to bees!! There was consistanly 10 - 20 bees in that area the entire weekend. It was a great stay! Wouldn't change anything!
