Friends with the Forest Retreat is located on 10 beautiful forested acres, conveniently located only 7 minutes from the magical town of Bryson City, 11 minutes from Nantahala Outdoor Center for hiking, whitewater paddling, and other outdoor activities, and 15 minutes to Deep Creek, the nearest access to Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
There are so many activities to do in the area, including hiking through gorgeous mountain trails, tubing down Deep Creek or Tuckaseegee River, biking at Tsali Recreation Area, backpacking adventures, riding the train on the scenic Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, visiting unique little shops, and much more.
We currently have space for tent camping and will soon have glamping areas available. Space includes a picnic table and fire pit. There is a communal bath house with a toilet, shower, and washer (dryer is not working). Electric is not available yet, but we can provide a power cord upon request. There is cellphone service on the property, but no WiFi.Pitch your tent in a grassy forest clearing at Friends with the Forest Retreat, a brand new homesteading project in the making conveniently located just 6 minutes from the magical town of Bryson City, the gateway to the Smoky Mountains. The land is surrounded with beautiful foliage and we hope to eventually transform this beautiful place into an educational nature retreat.
All within a few minutes from the land are endless possibilities for outdoor recreation and adventure. Ride the train on the scenic Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, hike through endless breathtaking trails, go tubing down Deep Creek within Great Smoky Mountain National Park, enjoy whitewater activities at Nantahala Outdoor Center, connect with the magic of the Appalachian Trail, go biking at Tsali Recreation Area, explore the unique local shops, and so much more.
You can set up your tent anywhere in the grassy field. There is a large communal fire pit and a picnic table. There is a communal bath house with a toilet, shower, and washer, though the dryer is not working. Glamping will be available soon!
