Welcome to our home! We're glad to have you. Exeter River camping with floating dock Bucket toilet in privacy tent Hot/Cold Outdoor shower Well behaved dogs/leashed dogs are welcome 2 Min to Lindy's Country Store, 6 Min to Market Basket (and shopping plaza)/Epping Restaurants 15 minutes to downtown Exeter 20 minutes from Pawtuckaway State Park Over 300 acres of town forest hiking trails directly across the street.Pitch your tent along the banks of the Exeter river at Bear + Bird Homestead! Journey down our property across a footbridge to camp in the sweet secluded woods on the river. Campsite is accessed by foot only - an easy 5 min walk from parking. We can provide a wagon for hauling gear. Guests are welcome to use our outdoor shower next to our house - hot and cold water available! Bucket toilet in privacy tent at your site. Fresh eggs and flowers for sale at the farmstand! Firewood sold across the street. Let us know ahead of time and we’ll stock your fire pit and have it ready. 300 acres of wooded trails across the street for hiking - some leading to the Brentwood rec center with a playground and soccer fields. ***Please note! They sadly sold the farmland across the river and are undergoing construction on a development. It is not directly in your view but you may hear the noises, generally only during weekdays but no guarantees!

Riverfront Tent Camping

Wonderful weekend away

We had an absolutely lovely time! The site is far back from the property and the hosts provided us with a gorilla cart to get our stuff to the site. The cart made the trek super easy, and it was a great way to adventure with our little humans. I’m guessing it’s a couple hundred yards to the site? We passed the chicken coop and the kids slide/swing on the way, which made it super fun for our kids each time. The site itself is all off on its own. There was no one around and we enjoyed the seclusion. During the day you can hear cars pass by on occasion, just like at any state park. At night we enjoyed the frogs croaking and nature sounds, but it was otherwise silent ( no nearby campers like you might at the state park). The site is huge, and peaceful, and super well maintained. Joe was beyond kind to clear out some thorns that our toddler immediately (embarrassingly) gravitated to. We were super appreciative of the composting toilet with the tent around it too! I can’t say enough good things about our holiday weekend away. It was the perfect, local getaway for our little family.

Riverfront Tent Camping

Our stay was fantastic! The hosts were super communicative and accommodating--meeting us at check in to give the lay of the land and depositing a jug of potable water down at the site before we arrived. You cannot tell that there are houses nearby, as the short walk to the site creates enough distance. It was a dreamy spot beneath pines to pitch our tent and hang our hammock. Being right on the river was a plus, and we even saw the resident beaver. A pop up privy housed the bucket toilet, well stocked with wood shavings and toilet paper, and the outdoor shower was a real haven during our rainy stay. Thanks for a great weekend, Meredith and Joe!
