Have A Lake Of Your Own!

10 sites · Lodging, Tents101 acres · Lawrence, MI
The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property. My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire.  Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

Sun Creek Farm

1 site · RV, Tent30 acres · East Leroy, MI
Tents. Hammocks. Vans. RVs. Small camper trailers. Groups. Glamping This property has been in our family for over 40 years- it is our own little piece of heaven and we are wanting to share it with you! The land was originally bought to be a hippy community- but sadly people grew up and moved on, leaving my father as the lone survivor of the property. My husband and I have recently purchased the land from him and want to make it into something beautiful- a new community of sorts. We are excited for you to come and camp on our property! We have lots of fun things planned for the property and will be making improvements as we go! Thank you for being apart of the journey. Learn more about this land: Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a couple of old horse pastures and barns, a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, a country swing, a dock if you would like to fish- we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself. While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30 ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. Campers and trailers are welcome, with limited size requirements and space; we also restrict where they can be parked. We are very close to several rivers in the area, so bring your kayaks, or inner tubes and float down the rivers for a peaceful afternoon. We’re not too far from Lake Michigan (easy day trip), Kalamazoo or Lansing, Several breweries in the area- (Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Marshall) as well as a casino (Marshall). We are in a very nice happy medium to a lot of Michigan favorite spots. Come and enjoy the quiet country- and get some amazing star lit skies. Ask about our “glamping” set up, for an additional fee- or even an outdoor movie night. We can accommodate large groups, or family gatherings. Large groups (over 10) must add on an additional portable toilet to their stay (seasonal only) We have an open air shower (see photos) that is cold water- but can be hot on sunny days. We also have a sink area. Well trained- recall ready pets are welcomed- please pick up after your pet. We do have free range ducks that use the pond- who should be respected. Leashes are required for all dogs who are dangerous to our animals. *We are now accepting winter rentals, winter campers should prep for the cold winter weather and should have 4w drive capability’s. Some add ons including portable toilet are not available during winter months. Please confirm rentals or add ins before booking. We do a meet and greet with our guests and will show you to the space; go over any information that we need to with you, and then we try and leave you to the space so you can experience it for yourself and enjoy your time. We are proud to be a certified pollinator sanctuary, and do not spray our property for insects. Visit our seasonal farm stand for fresh produce, eggs, and some beautiful flowers and herbs. We look forward to hosting you soon.

The best camping near Fort Custer State Park guide

Overview

About

Where can you ride your horse or bike on miles of trails, swim in one of three pristine lakes, and then play a rowdy round of Frisbee golf? Fort Custer is the place, with all that and more. Let’s talk for a minute about the Frisbee golf. This is not your run-of-the-mill golf course. We’re talking world championship Frisbee here—par 57! When you’re all worn out from a day on the course, you can head to the beach or the showers, and then end your day in a rustic cabin, or your own home away from home. We didn’t even mention the fishing, the canoeing, or the prairie restoration areas, but you’ll find it at Fort Custer—your one stop shop for outdoor adventure.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Fort Custer State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer offers warm days perfect for water activities, though it can be crowded. Winters are less ideal due to cold temperatures and limited access to some park areas.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you have a Recreation Passport for park entry, as it's required for all visitors.
  • Check trail conditions and weather forecasts before your visit to pack appropriately.
  • Be aware of park hours, typically from 8:30am to 5pm, and plan your activities within this timeframe.
  • Remember to leave no trace and dispose of trash responsibly to preserve the park's natural beauty.
  • For any inquiries or assistance, contact the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) before your trip.
