Come step back in time. Settle into the peace you'll feel camping under the majestic trees that have a tale to tell, up on top of a secluded hill with an expansive view of Lake Huron, or choose an open green field on the edge of a country road where you can drive or walk a few miles and discover old Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, and Bailey Schoolhouse. Fish, canoe or take a swim. Bike through the winding roads with the songs of birds nearby and an occasional family of deer. Or gather moss and birchbark to create something special. Pick some heritage apples in our orchard. Wander through 10 wondrous acres of forest trails behind the stone house. or walk the sandy shores of Lake Huron one .minute away and pick up colorful rocks and plentiful driftwood. If you sense the wonder of this place, you may also be one of the few to witness a little known Native American mound still standing only 30 minutes away near Mikado to the west. And if you want to adventure further, you can find the Maritime Museum with free admission and glass bottom boat with tales of ships sunken in the Great Lakes nearby or visit the Besser Museum both a 35 minute drive to the north. We're happy to share a bit of the natural beauty and amazing history of the Apple Haven Heritage Farm area with you. Come on over! We're excited to meet you!North Shore Site is in a secluded part of a field surrounded with trees in a 100 year old property. It's a 5 minute drive from Lake Huron and a lighthouse, near wildlife and an abundance of herbs you can pick and a variety of plants. There are no hook ups and basic outhouse..

We camped in our pop-up at Annette's hipcamp. It was a last minute booking and found it to be a great deal for the price! There was a mowed area at the edge of a field, adjacent to a little pond, with a nice little firepit and a couple chairs provided that made for quick and easy set up. Yes, there is a stone house within view but it was my understanding that no one is residing there. We enjoy our privacy and liked that we were able to check in and out without being required to meet and chat with our host. My son and I enjoyed exploring Anette's property, and I quickly wished we had been tent camping there instead. There are many great spots all throughout that would be great to hike into and pitch your tent for a night. If I'm ever in the area again, I plan to rebook this hipcamp, but bring our tent instead! We went to the beach twice during our 1 night stay - as it was only a 3 min drive down the road. We also found that the lighthouse was within walking distance from that beach access point (very convenient!) **We did a little rock hunting along the shores of Lake Huron, but my 8 year old found his favorite find of the entire trip at this hipcamp. (a palm sized puddingstone about halfway up one of the bluffs on the property). He was very happy and proud of his find :) **

Nice property, however-
Not much privacy. You look their house, or the road in the area that was cleared for our stay (you are required to bring a camp toilet). Host was slow to reply to messages through hip camp, or did not reply at all. She was very nice and welcoming when messages were exchanged. *** It was also a holiday weekend so it is understandable that communication was lagging as they were on holiday too***

Very nice spot on an old farmstead. The road nearby is not busy, so the campsite is quiet. We heard barred owls at night and had a duck visiting this morning. It's a 5 minute drive to Sturgeon Point Lighthouse with plenty of spots to enjoy the lake.

Great campsite with pretty views! The potable water and Johns were much appreciated. We didn't get a chance to go in the store, but I'm sure it's amazing, just like the property.
