The best camping near Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial

You probably know Abraham Lincoln grew up in a log cabin. But what else do you know about his early life? You'll learn it all when you visit this national memorial. The entire farm is re-created so you can learn about life in the mid-19th century. There are even live animals that your kids will love. And yes, you get to see the log cabin, complete with living history re-enactors.

Start at the Visitor Center to view exhibits and to talk to the Rangers. (And make sure you watch the short movie narrated by Leonard Nimoy.) After that, it's a short walk to the cabin, the cemetery where Lincoln's mother may be buried, and the excavated foundations of the actual Lincoln home. If the walk is a little too much for anyone in your group, there's a small parking lot by the cabin, so you can drive. Plan a couple of hours (at least) for your visit—and bring a picnic lunch if you want, to enjoy under the shady trees.
