When your plan a falls thru come stay here at plan b campground. This is the only beachfront private property campsite on the island. Park right next to your tent. No worries about having to leave your car out of sight. This spot is behind a locked gate that you have a key for no curfew come and go as you like. Most choose not to go anywhere they like it right here. I've heard from more people that stayed elsewhere on the island and they say they wish they came here first. Oceanfront island style getaway with mango, banana and coconut trees in the yard. Hear the ocean while you fall asleep. restroom, hot shower with changing room, fresh water, 110v electricity for phone or laptop charging no plug for vans to run a/c or fridge, washing machine available for $10 per load, beachfront cabana with lounge chairs and hammock. Beach front camp

The set up is right on the beach, as described. The beach has minimal foot traffic throughout the day and it’s the perfect place to relax. I had a BBQ with the host and his wife. He brought me fresh fruit from the property. He was very helpful with information. I was a solo female traveler and felt very safe and looked after. This isn’t even a plan B, this should be your first choice.

Recommend, with a couple caveats

The location is on the southern shore, west of Honolulu. Parking was easy and there were close shopping centers. Our host was quirky, but responsive. The accommodations were more spacious than expected. They had a hot plate, microwave and a few pans/cooking implements. Bring your own coffee mugs. The location was directly on the beach and had beach recliners and tables that could be used on the beach. The beach was very short (not a lot of sand area) and probably isn't the best for kids, although my husband and I enjoyed our beach immensely. Walking down the beachline I only saw like 5 or 6 people, mostly people on their own property enjoying the sunset. They had an air mattress that did need some reinflation each night, but wasn't bad as far as air mattresses go. There were fireworks set off that sounded like gunshots when they are close. It wasn't all night, but it did freak us out as we were winding down for bed. If you are a clean freak or don't want to interact with your host, it's not the best place for you. However, if you're up for a little adventure and can deal with a little grime behind the toilet, go for it. You pay extra for laundry or A/C. We found the stay worth the cost.

Incredible Value

We had an excellent experience. $50 a day was refreshingly manageable. AC is extra, but even at the expensive $25 a day price point, that still puts the total cost well below average. There's free parking which removes so much of the nightmare of travel we experienced when we stayed in Waikiki. David communicated clearly and transparently, which I really appreciated. The room gets hot during the day, so if you're not out adventuring, you will need AC. We managed to avoid needing AC the whole time we stayed. There are a few small quirks like how to turn the shower hot water and bathroom fan on, but no problem. The room is 100 yds from a beach complete with awning and beach chairs. The water was a little deep and choppy, so not good for swimming, but still nice. The bed is an inflatable mattress with a foam topper, so be warned if you need a firm bed. David and his wife were very respectful, but there is a shared wall with what I presume is their kitchen, so you hear noises throughout the day. I presume they could hear us as well.

Beach in Your Backyard

This location is great! I did the full experience offered with all the extras. The tent was setup nicely with a queen size air mattress which was very comfortable, linen and towels for shower, fan, chair and small table. A nice setup or blank canvas if you like setting up your own glamping setup like I am. With the camper setup I had electricity, a nice hot shower, toilet, an outside sink for dishes if needed and there was a cooler available for use. AND THE VIEWS!! An absolutely perfect site to watch the sunrise on your personal beach oasis after a great nights sleep listening to the waves. Fire pit at night under the awning as pictured. David is a great host. Readily available and a very nice guy. I have already recommended this location to other travel nurses like myself that need some quiet relaxing time. Food, shopping, groceries, everything you need is very close by including a nice surfing beach. Definitely book this location! I will book again!
