100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
The cabin shares the property with our home but a large portion of the yard is maintained solely for the use of cabin guests. The space feels private with no obligation to interact with the main house residents. Enjoy cooking on the BBQ or sitting by the firepit while taking in the woodland scenery.
The area features a plethora of nearby hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, and swimming. Or enjoy the simplicity of reading a book, sitting by the fire, and letting the forest share its splendor with you. This house is also only about an hour drive to beautiful Lake Almanor and the amazing gem of Lassen National Park. It is very easy to go up for a day to go boating, fishing, a hike to the hot springs and hydrothermal areas, or have a picnic. The drive between here and there is on well maintained roads and the scenery is absolutely stunning.
While Chico may look a bit far away on the map, the highway gets you there in 20 short minutes. This university town is well known for its mixture of vibrance, the arts, and small town rural living. The area boasts truly amazing restaurants, bars, shopping and modern amenities. Our property is very close to access points for the famous Upper Bidwell park. We will share a guidebook full of our personal recommendations of things to do in the area. This newly remodeled guesthouse cabin is nestled on our family’s 5 acres in the pine forests of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Only 3 hours from San Francisco, 1 hour 45 minutes from Sacramento, and 20 minutes from Chico, come unplug from the rat race and enjoy a slice of authentic rural living. Recharge in solitude or get out-and-about to enjoy the countryside.
The furnishings here are designed to maximize relaxation starting with the Cal King bed and Casper memory foam mattress. In addition to that the 55” Roku smart TV, espresso maker, fully stocked kitchenette, small library of some of our favorite books, board games & puzzles, washer & dryer, along with the pellet stove fireplace for winter stays, were all thoughtfully curated to allow you to rest, unwind, and enjoy yourself.
Our personal background is in regenerative agriculture and our family operates this property as a homestead. At different times of the year it will feel more active in that regard than others. We almost always have poultry on the property (mixture of chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys) and we have a herd of goats and livestock guardian dogs that we manage to help thin the forest and keep it healthy. That herd travels between a number of properties so sometimes they are here and other times they are working on other people’s land.
There is a plethora of wildlife here. Some of our favorites are deer, turkey, and salamanders.
We are working to clear out the overgrown sections of the forest and establish meadows in more open sections. We are also rehabilitating a very small old orchard to bear fruit again. We hope to add more trees to the orchard in the coming years along with adding a large organic vegetable garden.
We invite you to treat yourself to a stay here and enjoy a bit of simple living and nature’s bounty.
