Discover the scenic beauty of Arkansas River - Pool 3 Lock and Dam.
Located about 23 miles east of Pine Bluff, Pool 3 Lock and Dam may not have a special name, but it does feature three recreation areas along the Arkansas River, two of which offer boat launches and a chance to get in on some excellent catfish action. Anglers also report excellent supplies of bass, crappie, and bream. Just north of the area lies Bayou Meto State Game Area, one of the largest state-owned wildlife management areas in these United States, encompassing 33,832 acres in Arkansas and Jefferson counties. Because the lakes are flooded here to attract waterfowl, the green-timber duck hunting is some of the best in the state, and is generally the heaviest recreational use of the area.
The ideal time to visit Arkansas River - Pool 3 Lock and Dam is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty of the area is at its peak. Summer brings warmth and a full bloom of activity, but also higher visitor numbers. Winter can be less crowded but prepare for cooler temperatures and a more tranquil river experience.
