Welcome to the ranch! This is a working ranch specializing in working sheepdogs! This is a small rural town within a moments drive to Lake Nimrod, petite jean mountain and several other fabulous hiking areas for the outdoor enthusiast. Here you’ll find dark starry skies, and tons of wild life. Flat field camping with no neighbors surrounded by beautiful hardwood trees. You will love this rural experience.

Mountain View Working Ranch Camping
My family and I had a great time. Jennifer and Ron were terrific hosts with great hospitality. We enjoyed the quiet, the stars, and especially the tour of the farm. Our daughters (age 12 and 9) loved every minute, and have already asked to go back. It was a wonderful time for all of us!

Mountain View Working Ranch Camping
Had a great camping trip. Was expecting it to be really hot since it was summer but it was pretty windy which made it very comfortable. It got nice and cool at night which I love. We had everything we needed. Met Ron at the entrance. He did a great job of setting us up and letting us know sites in the area. Would definitely go back. Thanks Jennifer and Ron for a great experience.

We loved our stay with Ron and Jennifer! Ron greeted us at the gate and escorted us right to our campsite, which he had prepared for us with a picnic table, fire pit, a wood grill, five gallons of their incredibly delicious fresh well water, as well as any other camping necessities we could need. To be honest though, we spent very little time at the site because all we wanted to do was hang on the ranch with our incredible hosts! We spent such a wonderful time with them laughing and chatting and they were kind enough to share their grill with us and we joined them for wonderful and memorable dinners. Their dogs were all so friendly and for animal lovers like us it was heaven having such beautiful dogs around always happy to have some loves and pets, as well as sweet gentle horses in the barn always willing to give gentle lippy horsey kisses. We even got lucky and got to watch Jennifer, who's been professionally training dogs for over 20 years, work with some of her elite border collies as they herded sheep, obeying her every whistle. It was so difficult to have to leave the ranch; we could have easily stayed a whole week! We are already planning our trip back to visit Ron and Jennifer and their perfect slice of heaven

Mountain View Working Ranch Camping
Ron and Jennifer were great host! The camp site was absolutely perfect and the tour of the ranch was even better. Ron and Jennifer made sure we had everything we needed from water, firewood, and a very "interesting" grill. You'll have to stay there to find out why, but I will say it cooked some of the best burgers we've had! I'd also like to mention that Ron and Jennifer were very accommodating. Because we work during the week it meant that we wouldn't get to the campsite until very late. Ron and Jennifer stayed up well past 10pm to guide us to the campsite and to make sure we had everything we needed. For us, this said volumes about their hospitality. Don't hesitate to book this amazing campsite...

Spectacular
Amazing piece of land, secluded but still close to the main road. Booking, and getting there was a breeze. Jennifer the host was waiting for us and showed us our site. It was just us and another group about 75 yards away. The view is spectacular, plenty of space for the kids to run around. I would definitely come back.

Mountain View Working Ranch Camping
We usually do primitive camping when out in Anza Borrego, but decided to switch it up this time when we found this ranch on HipCamp. The hosts, Ron and Jennifer, were amazing with communication... sending multiple messages to make sure we’d find our way and asked questions to better prepare a site for us. They met us out on the street and we followed them down an easily traversable dirt road, along the side of their 40-acre (if I remember correctly) ranch. We drove by a beautiful pasture spotted with blooming Baby Blue Eyes where the sheep graze, and were led to the site they set aside for us. There was a picnic table set up, a fire pit and a jug of their natural well water (which tasted good, albeit a tiny bit gritty). A couple very clean port-a-potties about 100 feet away. Two other small groups of fellow HipCampers were also there, and Ron had spaced every one far enough not to be effected by one another, but close enough to easily be able to hang out with new friends. After we unpacked and settled in, Ron came back and offered a tour of the ranch, as well as a demonstration of how their border collies (they had 9 on the ranch at the time) herd sheep. Their dog, Paige, made me want to ask a little more out of my own dog. On Jennifer’s command, she’d shoot out and circle the perimeter of the field to suss out any stray sheep. Round them up, split them up, make them go this way and that, have them stop… Paige made it all look easy. We were able to check out the the barns, enclosures and other buildings. It’s a good thing their farm is so organized, because you get the feeling there’s always some improvement under construction, or some event happening on that end of the farm. They’ve got a separate building they’ve dubbed the Silver Bullet Cantina (I’ll give you one guess as to their favorite beer) which has got a small kitchen, a full-on bar, cool décor and music always playing… the kind of place you can easily lose half the night in. Luckily, it’s usually available for guests to use. In summary: very friendly and helpful hosts, fantastic land, and convenient facilities. One last thing: it got pretty windy when we went (end of March), and apparently that is the norm for the area, so plan/pack accordingly. Also, those of us with T-Mobile had no service the whole time we were there, and the one person with Google Fi had data service off and on, but who cares about screens and service when you’ve got all them stars? Definitely worth another visit.
