Nestled in the hills of Monroe County, Ohio, Sparkman Lake (approx. 3 acres) sits on 40+ acres of the wooden area directly off State Route 145. We are located between Malaga & Miltonsburg. Sitting just a few miles away from the intersection with State Route 800 in Malaga, Ohio. The site offers 5 fully furnished cozy rustic rental cabins, a 4 bedroom deluxe cabin & 12 RV full hook-up lots. Individual parking is available at each lot.
We took over in December 2018. We are constantly upgrading our property and completing projects to help improve our beautiful piece of land. It started with some simple property cleanup, clearing brush, fixing broken structures, and adding stone for instant transformations.
Our goal is to offer our community a local place to visit and enjoy themselves, the great outdoors, fishing, pedal boating, and sitting around a campfire. As well as a close option to stay when you visit our wonderful county. We hope to continue providing this service.

This place is one of a kind. The cabin is super cozy while simultaneously feeling connected to nature with a ton of big windows that really bring in the outdoors. The amenities and little touches are first rate including a complete mini cook's kitchen, awesome lighting to fit any mood, a ton of games, great reading material, and stacked firewood for the charming indoor wood burner. The cabin is very charming and a great jumping off point for Eastern Ohio adventures! PS - Super clean and the hosts were very friendly.

Amazing place and amazing hosts. The cabin was immaculate, the campgrounds were beautiful.
You're in the sticks here, so bring a book and get your lungs ready for some pure air.

The hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating, the campsite is simple but had everything we needed, and the cabins were comfy, warm and private. The site is in a lovely area of country: rolling hills, lots of wildlife, and really quiet and peaceful. We went with 4 adults and 5 kids, aged between 7 and 11, and everyone had a great time.

We loved our stay at the A-Frame. It was more secluded than expected which was nice. It is about 1/4 mile from where you park. Logan will help you haul your stuff in his Gator which was super helpful when we were leaving in the rain. We had a peaceful stay and explored Lake Hope State Park, dined at Pleasant Hill Winery, and enjoyed Jennifer's delicious homemade and locally sourced breakfast burritos.

The land was beautiful and well maintained. We stayed one night as a quick stop on a longer trip. Jennifer was very sweet and had the site prepped with water and fire wood for us. the bathroom was clean.

Michelle and Ed were amazing hosts! Super friendly and accommodating, they went out of their way to make sure we were cared for and had a good experience! The shower and restroom facilities were basic but very clean. Other than being close to the road it was a great place to pitch our tents and hammocks for the weekend! Highly recommend their campground for camping!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay this past weekend at the Birdhouse Farm Cabin. We truly appreciated the peaceful, secluded setting it was the perfect quiet getaway. The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable, and the host went above and beyond by providing plenty of fresh drinking water and campfire wood. We’re already looking forward to booking another stay soon!

Absolutely loved the little A frame cabin. So cute and cozy! There was a 5 gallon jug of water and bundles of wood (1 is included, more can be purchased!) waiting for us at camp. It was a short, but beautiful, hike to the cabin. We didn't use the outdoor shower but we did check it out - its heated! The outhouse was close to camp, that was nice. My husband loved fishing in the pond. My dog had a blast - lots of wildlife to watch and she was so curious about the goats 😂 we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved everything about pops place! There isn't a single bad thing to say about our stay. The cabins were exactly what we needed, we have 4 young boys from ages 9 and down and they absolutely loved the outdoor shower and playset! We thought it was so perfect and super close for our techumsa trail riding trip! We got in late Friday night and the owners still came up to the cabin and greeted us and we talked for a while, they are both so nice and welcoming! They absolutely didn't have to come say hi and could of waited until the next day but them doing so says alot about who they are and how much they care! This is an absolute perfect stay for anyone, especially if you are wanting away from the city life, noise ect. The stars, her gardens, the cabins,everything was perfect! We cant wait to come back 🩷

We have been taking my nieces and nephew camping here for years. It’s quiet and secluded, and the grounds are well kept. The owner, Carl, is always friendly and helpful, and we’ve enjoyed seeing how he’s invested in amenities and grown his business over the years. We typically stay in Wolf Cabin but have stayed in Bear as well. Both are very nice and clean. This year my parents came along and stayed in the new Eagle Cabin. It’s very beautiful, and they really enjoyed it. See you next year, Carl!

A great little cabin to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It’s very remote and secluded but is accessible by a gravel road. I think we counted 3 trucks and 2 side by sides as traffic for the entire weekend!
The cabin was neat as a button and every question a guest could ever ask was already addressed either in their cabin manual or little notes adjacent to the items. It is SOOOO quiet! What a great place to relax and unwind. Many trails criss-cross the property so bring comfortable shoes. Thanks for the opportunity to share your little slice of heaven!

Absolutely would recommend Pops place,Michelle and Ed were superior host. The cabins are extremely clean comfortable beds to sleep on. Cannot complain about anything. The most awesome stay ever. The railing g for my age was too low going up the steps, although I never complained, when we came back from our side by side ride, to my excitement they had installed a very rustic rail for our convenience and it was so super easy to get into our cabin. . How awesome. The most fantastic people, very personable folks ever. We highly recommend everyone to stay for such a relaxing night well spent. I wish I could say more, but anyone who chooses to stay will understand the most enjoyable stay ever.
