Or, just sit back and relax in tranquility, as the property sits at the end of a cul de sac just before entering national forest land. Be sure to leash your pets and keep a good eye, as there are wildcats, coyotes, and bears in the area. Learn more about this land: Pull your RV or trailer onto this lot and take in the beautiful southwestern view of Mt. Jupiter ridge and a peek-a-boo view of the Dosewallips River! Listen closely, and you will hear the sounds of the river below. The lot is equipped with power and water hookups! Please be aware the water hookup is near the main gate entrance and the power is about 40 feet apart, so you may need a long hose (see pic). Enjoy the view from the large deck, firepit, or picnic table overlooking the river, valley, and mountains. This lot is truly a little slice of heaven! Within a few minutes, find yourself at Rocky Brook falls (see pics) for a spectacular view and even a swim if you so please! Pleasant Harbor Marina (also shown in pics) also within 10 minutes! You will also find many hiking trails and parks nearby! There is weak cell service on the lot, so you may or may not be able to connect. I get 1-2 bars with Sprint. While this property is not very far off the Dosewallips road (35 mph), it is generally very quiet and peaceful. You may hear cars and motorcycles from time to time, but very faintly. The lot is at about 350 ft. elevation, so you may get noise traveling up the valley from the residential community below (to which I belong), such as dogs, people using chainsaws, etc. There is hunting allowed in the national forest, so you could potentially hear guns in the distance during the day, but that is rare. There are a few close neighbors, so please be respectful and quiet, especially in the evening. Please bring your own firewood when campfires are allowed and please do not forage for firewood on or around the property. Lastly, while the sightings have been few and rare, the neighbors have seen bears, cougars, coyotes, and bobcats near their homes and this property. So keep an eye on your children and pets, especially if off-leash (your pet of course!) The property also slopes a bit where the deck starts, so again, keep a close eye on the kiddos. You have a very good chance of seeing the local Roosevelt Elk that travel in huge herds around Brinnon (See pics). They sometimes lay down and hang out on the grass on the property! Make sure your pets have their flea and tick updates!

Larry and Dolly McMurtrey purchased the Delveccio farm in 1975 next door to this farm. The farm offered an exciting new venture after retirement. The McMurtrey's had many fun and unique ideas. They purchased truck loads of scrap glass to resell as fish glass, which is still seen today in the parking lot. They grew bamboo and sold imperfect veggies that farmers were going to throw away. Eventually they landed on Christmas trees. To expand their ventures, they leased this land for many years then eventually sold the Delveccio land and purchsed this farm in 1998. Today, Larry and Dolly's daughter and son-in law, Jana and Pablo Sifuentes have grown the family business to provide wonderful memories to the community during the holiday season. Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

This land has passed through many families but was first "managed" by Salish Indians who burned the prairie and harvested native plants for food, medicine, clothing, charms and more for 10,000 years. When European settlers arrived in the 1850s, burning the prairie all but ceased and that, along with the introduction of many new exotic species of animals, crop plants and weeds, began the degradation of the landscape. Over time our site was used to graze sheep and then raise pheasants (from 1944-1999). It was slated for housing development but several citizens rose up and prevented that from happening. Now the Pacific Rim Institute, a private nonprofit organization is the steward of this precious jewel of central Whidbey and the Pacific Northwest. We have a five-acre remnant prairie with over 80 species of native plants - critical to the restoration of degraded lands throughout the Salish Sea region. We have over two miles of walking trails for you. They traverse our prairie, savannas and forests. The land is full of color when the native wildflowers bloom from early spring through early autumn. We have a Native Plant Center where we grow up to 50 species of rare native plants. Ask us for a tour.

Lake Cavanaugh is nearby, and regional activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking, , paddling, wind sports, and off-roading. The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). There is a “en suite kitchen in the cottage that has a small fridge, microwave, and two burner stovetop cooking unit. The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --are all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin. The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. our vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Even with all the little enclave of buildings, The Purple Cottage retains a private feel all to itself, with reliable Wi-Fi available at the cottage. . It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. The private deck off the side of the Purple Cottage offers views of the gardens & flora, and has a little gas barbecue. There is also a delightful hot tub on the deck, which is a wonderful feature. An outdoor kitchen on the edge of the woods allows a roomier “camp cooking” experience with Colman stove & cold running water (season permitting). We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town! You will also find many hiking trails and parks nearby! There is weak cell service on the lot, so you may or may not be able to connect. I get 1-2 bars with Sprint. While this property is not very far off the Dosewallips road (35 mph), it is generally very quiet and peaceful. You may hear cars and motorcycles from time to time, but very faintly. The lot is at about 350 ft. elevation, so you may get noise traveling up the valley from the residential community below (to which I belong), such as dogs, people using chainsaws, etc. There is hunting allowed in the national forest, so you could potentially hear guns in the distance during the day, but that is rare. There are a few close neighbors, so please be respectful and quiet, especially in the evening. Please bring your own firewood when campfires are allowed and please do not forage for firewood on or around the property. Lastly, while the sightings have been few and rare, the neighbors have seen bears, cougars, coyotes, and bobcats near their homes and this property. So keep an eye on your children and pets, especially if off-leash (your pet of course!) The property also slopes a bit where the deck starts, so again, keep a close eye on the kiddos. You have a very good chance of seeing the local Roosevelt Elk that travel in huge herds around Brinnon (See pics). They sometimes lay down and hang out on the grass on the property! Make sure your pets have their flea and tick updates!

Larry and Dolly McMurtrey purchased the Delveccio farm in 1975 next door to this farm. The farm offered an exciting new venture after retirement. The McMurtrey's had many fun and unique ideas. They purchased truck loads of scrap glass to resell as fish glass, which is still seen today in the parking lot. They grew bamboo and sold imperfect veggies that farmers were going to throw away. Eventually they landed on Christmas trees. To expand their ventures, they leased this land for many years then eventually sold the Delveccio land and purchsed this farm in 1998. Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

This land has passed through many families but was first "managed" by Salish Indians who burned the prairie and harvested native plants for food, medicine, clothing, charms and more for 10,000 years. When European settlers arrived in the 1850s, burning the prairie all but ceased and that, along with the introduction of many new exotic species of animals, crop plants and weeds, began the degradation of the landscape. Over time our site was used to graze sheep and then raise pheasants (from 1944-1999). It was slated for housing development but several citizens rose up and prevented that from happening. Now the Pacific Rim Institute, a private nonprofit organization is the steward of this precious jewel of central Whidbey and the Pacific Northwest. We have a five-acre remnant prairie with over 80 species of native plants - critical to the restoration of degraded lands throughout the Salish Sea region. We have over two miles of walking trails for you. They traverse our prairie, savannas and forests. The land is full of color when the native wildflowers bloom from early spring through early autumn. We have a Native Plant Center where we grow up to 50 species of rare native plants. Ask us for a tour.

This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Will was a great host and has a great spot perched up on the hill. The space is very accessible and our two dogs had more than enough room to play and get all their energy out. We will definitely remember this spot the next time we are in the area.

I stayed in the Willow Cabin for two nights over the Thanksgiving holiday, and it was exactly the peaceful reset I was hoping for. I arrived after 9pm, and even in the dark, the property felt welcoming with its whimsical lighting guiding the way. Reg, the host, was there to greet me and walk me through everything — from the cozy cabin setup to the full outhouse bathroom and the little kitchen area with a fridge for essentials. The cabin itself is simple and calming, with a twin and a queen bed, both with fresh linens. Reg had the space heater going before I arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. Since I stayed during the colder season, I was grateful I brought a heated blanket, and I’d recommend others do the same that time of year. The water straight from the tap was incredibly fresh and delicious, truly something you don’t get in the city — just a small detail that made the stay feel even more special. What really stood out to me was the beauty and quiet of the property. Reg genuinely encourages guests to wander and explore, and it made the whole stay feel more personal and grounding. It’s the perfect spot for anyone wanting to unplug, reflect, and enjoy a truly low-amenity, chill cabin experience. And I have to mention this — the shower water pressure and heat were amazing. Truly a highlight! If you know you enjoy a simple, peaceful, back-to-basics kind of stay, Willow Cabin is such a gem. I’d absolutely return.

Beautiful spot! Arrived on Thanksgiving night to a soggy and foggy view but the next morning woke to blue skies and beautiful Mountain View’s! Plenty of space and the deck and fire pit (although weather prevented us from using) was a wonderful addition. Even though the location is amount neighbors and other homes, it felt very private and very quiet. The views can’t be beat! Would stay again.

Weekend Trip to Pacific Rim Institute
Great spot on the middle of the island. Quiet and peaceful. No power but clean and dry. Fire pit offered a great spot for an evening campfire. Very clean, cots for sleeping. Bring headlamps. Running water, shower and toilet clean and about 60 - 80 yds from the cabin. Great host and spot!

Reg's land and cabin are lovely. He's a sweet and accommodating host :) The property feels a little magical with a walk along the river and a big beautiful tree to greet you. The record collection is fun to dig through - some real gems in there.

Such a great experience! This is the perfect Hipcamp for those that want a hub for surrounding activities! I enjoyed the site and the host was very appropriately communicative. The description of the place is perfectly honest. Expect a visit from fluffy dogs and lots of farm and wilderness sounds. I heard a barred owl when I first arrived. Tasty water and the sauna and bathroom/shower is perfect!

Reg’s hundred acre wood is a charming mix of huts and outbuildings new and old. The vegetation overgrowth and misty air conceal various construction materials and antiques around the property. Dishes and coffee are available, and the BBQ worked as long as you can squeeze into the narrow place where it’s situated. The washroom is cute, the kitchen is slated for demolition, and the cabin we stayed in was warm. Reg was enthusiastic about showing us around the property, and introducing us to the sheep.

What a lovely horsecamp! Beautiful setting with peek a boo views of Mt Baker and Straits of San Juan. Hosts Bill and Anna were so friendly and easy to work with. We rode horses and really appreciated the map showing all the great trails. I would highly recommend and would love to go back!

Will's campsite was absolutely magical, quiet, private, and peaceful. The deck with cafe lights was perfect for lounging in a hammock and doing yoga. We also really enjoyed the firepit and star-gazing! We will definitely be back here to camp again. Thank you, Will!

Weekend Trip to Greenstone Farm Camping
My husband and I enjoyed staying at Greenstone Farms. The farm and the view are quite beautiful. We had fresh eggs for breakfast which was lovely. The horses visited us before headed home. The restroom was very clean and nice and had a heater which was nice since it was raining the night we showed up. We would have stayed longer but my husband wanted his recliner for the Mariners playoff game. I didn’t foresee that obstacle.

Reg is friendly and check in was very easy. The place had everything we needed and the space heater worked very well even on the lowest setting. The area is beautiful, particularly the little grotto area down the hill. I think it's an excellent stay especially for the price.

Great, out of the way, place. Spots are well marked, wiht plenty of space between them for privacy. There are farm animals that free range, including sheep (that are very cute), so heads up that there's lots of poop around. Andrea has three incredibly friendly dogs that came to say hello, and lots of cats around that are friendly too. The sauna is a great feature. The only drawback is that the sauna/bathhouse is a bit of an uphill hike from the campsites. Just plan your bathroom trips. Otherwise, lovely overnight here.
