The revamped bus was the coziest rainy day refuge. I was sad the rain kept me from fully exploring and appreciating the fantastical campgrounds. But it was so easy to be completely content at the bus-turned-cabin site because of the privacy and having everything you need for a proper glamp, even in a downpour. All the details are so thoughtful, from the tea kettle to the outdoor compost toilet, the outdoor stringlights to the indoor power outlets (used sparingly on a battery)-- I honestly can't wait to come back and *actually* use the spring water hot tub. Missed opportunity when the universe gave me a surprise puppy to adopt the day of the trip! Gary was incredibly understanding and even invited us to play with his own pups loose on the campgrounds! Koda and I appreciate all the space you made for us, and we will be back very soon!

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest
This is such a special place! The Wanderbus was cozy and quirky and perfect. More than warm enough and Louis the Third is an immaculate toilet. I took advantage of the hot tub both nights and it’s such a great perk. Definitely try the tangerine essential oil stay with it! I came to take pictures and get some quiet reading time and it didn’t disappoint. I would recommend it so highly (as long as you don’t book when I want to come back!)

This is the best hipcamp I've ever been to. It was so quiet, the camper was extremely cozy and well stocked, and the spot was very private. The off grid hot tub was unique and well worth the extra fee! The whole campground is a very fun and creative space and you can really tell how much love and care Gary and crew have put into this place. I'll be back for summer camping!

Gary was so attentive and welcoming! Even though I came during a rainy time, the land was beautiful and whimsical. The staff there were all so accommodating and helped with anything I needed (firewood, the hot tub, heaters). The community kitchen was sooo much fun to use and the shower was amazing! It was fun to walk around and see the bunnies and chickens as well as see how hard the staff work to create more fun amenities for the future. Gary mills the wood himself and you can see how all of the structures are such a labor of love!

We stayed in the Coho Cabins - what a luxury! Clean, upgraded, with every amenity you could think of, including a Nespresso. The park itself felt safe, with a nice spa-like hot tub with water views, great staff, and even games in the community area. Walk across the street to a deck with stunning views (you might even catch a glimpse of a seal) and a fairly quiet beach area. I spent many relaxing mornings on that deck. Only complaint is that the photos of the views from within the cabin are inaccurate - the cabins are stacked right next to each other, so there is no mountain or water view as advertised (just trees or the other cabins). Otherwise, such a nice experience.

I asked my 7yo son where he would like to take a mini road trip this summer and he wanted to return to Elfendahl!
There have been lots of fun additions since we visited last summer, such as a foosball table and a "living room in the forest" featuring games and books. It's generally difficult for me to keep my children (7 and 5) engaged in outdoor/no screens activities, but not at Elfendahl. There is something to explore in every direction.
Host Gary is welcoming and extremely patient with guests of all ages.
Highly recommend and I have a feeling we will be back again next summer!

My two daughters and one of their friends spent two days together here with me, and we had a really great time. It is a magical spot for younger kids in particular, and with others to play with, it was also really relaxing for me. Our plan was originally to go exploring in other areas, but we ended up spending all our time just hanging out in the camp. You will be in close proximity to others, but the campsites themselves have just enough room so that you can still have some privacy. The communal kitchen is well stocked, and I ended up doing most of my cooking out there. At the request of the girls, we will definitely be back next summer.

Every time I stay at Gary's I find more reasons why I love it so much. This time we stayed in the Wanderbus and it was great!! Worth every penny. We could have gotten away with just bringing food, clothing and a towel - just about everything else was provided. It felt very private and magical. We loved walking the trail and enjoying the beautiful garden, not to mention all the whimsical decorations. We will definitely be back again soon! Gary is a fantastic host and very helpful (if you need it).

Weekend Trip to Capital Forest Adventure Retreat
This was an absolutely amazing stay. The tiny home was perfect, equipped with everything I needed for my two nights. The hot tub was perfect, listening to the frogs at night while soaking was everything. I also rented an E-Bike from Ryan and his wife and they gave me a great loop to take around the area including a couple stops to look at wildlife. I would come back here and recommend this stay to anyone any time.

Gary was a wonderful host! To sum it up, this place has charm, whismsy, and love all poured into it. The wanderbus was a beautiful and comfortable place that had everything we needed. From blankets, spices for our food, lights, a heater to keep us warm, and a comfortable bed that gave us our needed rest! Beyond that, the campsite was also great! The communal kitchen, shower, and other fun amendities was a nice addition! I think in Spring this place would even be more lovely, and less muddy overall! The rain and cold weather brought ambience which was much appreciated. I can't recommend this site enough, and make sure to say hi to Bokas and Sunny!! Lovely dogs :)

Gary was a really great host! Even though it wasnt summer or spring, the Wanderbus made this an exceptional place during the more colder and rainier months of the year!
We appreciated the warm comfort the bus provided, and we felt it was a home away from home! The place was indeed magical, we could tell that much effort was put into it! We made our meals in the bus kitchennette with ambient rain in the background. The bus also holds several card/board games which provided us entertaining nights to end on!

We loved the tiny home/cabin! It was the perfect getaway, especially the hot tub! We hiked the Mima Falls Trail, which is quite accessible, and enjoyed Farrelli's for dinner in the evening, which has vegan and gluten free options. The cabin has a well stocked kitchenette, including coffee, and the hot door shower was easy to use.
