SiloSide Barn and Homestead

The SiloSide barn and homestead is better known around town as the "Old Somers Farm" in reference to the day when the barn housed 60 head of cows. The farm was a part of the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, and closed this era in the late 1980s. Prior to being a dairy farm consisting of over 500 acres, the property served as a tavern, inn, tannery, and has always been a traditional, well-loved farmhouse. Our farmhouse was built in 1785, and the barn built around the 1830s and expanded in 1941. The soil here is rich, and the forest full of wildlife. We've named our home "SiloSide" as tribute to the magic we feel on the non-road facing, silo-side of the barn, where you'll be camping.

We live in the beautiful wooded area in fairlee vt with beautiful views of the ascutney mountains .

You will be camping at our cloud 9 campsite which private and peaceful!  The site is located behind many large pine trees in the upper part of the field across from our house which is hidden and cannot be viewed from the campsite. You can connect with wifi at the wifi sign near the beginning of the campsite road. We have a few hiking trails on Blood brook road one of which you can walk to from our home and it’s only a very short distance away. We are located 3 miles from Lake Fairlee Public beach also known as Treasure Island so bring your swimsuit!  We are also within 5 minutes of the Lake Fairlee boat launch so feel free to bring your canoe or kayak and enjoy a paddle around our beautiful lake.

We provide some outdoor games for our campers to enjoy! Which include Badminton rackets, birdies, badminton/volley ball net, volley ball, cornhole and frisbee

Woodbury Meadows

  We live on 52 wooded acres in a natural area surrounded by lakes and ponds just 14 miles north of Montpelier VT.  We are located on the Green Mountain  Gravel Growler bike packing trail and have lots of hiking , biking, boating and  swimming opportunities nearby. Our amenity's include a bath house with two flush toilets and a hot shower! We also now have a washer and dryer available for our campers. We have one 30 amp RV site with full hook ups  and  4  tent/small RV non electric sites. We are 100% solar powered and have good WIFI but no cell service.  We cater to small quiet groups who can enjoy our peaceful setting. If your are bike packing and our sites are booked just text or stop in we will accommodate you.

  We are a family friendly, non smoking campground. We are open early May till late October. Pets on leashes are OK. Quiet time is all the time :~). 12 and under free, no Generators.

Thornhill Farm

Come stay on our diversified farm! We grow winter rye. There are trails to hike nearby on Barr Hill and a great view. Swimming is nearby in Caspian Lake. Hill Farmstead brewery is just over a mile away.

Caspian lake, one of the nicest little beaches in Vermont is only a few miles from Thornhill Farm.

Clyde River Camping

In August of 2021 we had been approached by folks wanting to camp on our property because of the beautiful views and riverfront water access. In keeping it reasonable and safe, we found HIPCAMP offered us the best venue to do so. Site #1 is camper/RV accessible with lots of room for friends, vehicles and a field to set up tents or game playing areas. If deep woods camping is what you prefer, we offer that as well. We offer free firewood, picnic tables and outhouses. Fresh water pond for cooling off and bathing. 100 acres of trails through the woods, fields and 3/4 mile of river frontage for all your outdoor activities.

Kayaking and canoeing from all of our sites (Rentals available nearby at https://www.clyderiverrecreation.com), fishing, bird and big game watching (see actual game cam pictures in our photo gallery), mountain climbing and mountain biking (Best mountain bike trails in New England available close by in Burke, Vt. (https://www.kingdomtrails.org)! Peaceful, country relaxed atmosphere.

Sandiwood Farm Stay Experiences

Atop a hill in northern Vermont the farm property is made up a rolling hay field, organic vegetables, flowers, herbs, and old hardwood maple forest where we produce maple syrup. The sunsets are some of the best in Vermont!

Sandiwood Farm produces artisan maple syrup and grows organic produce, flowers, cannabis, hemp and other herbs. They also host farm dinners, weddings, and other events. 

You can get your hands dirty and work on the farm if you're interested. This is a 420 friendly farm with samples and tastings. 

35 years ago, Bob and Sara Schlosser were married in the barren field that is now Sandiwood Farm.

They have slowly built their home, farm, business and raised a family.

Or skip the picnic table and drop a blanket. 

The first thing you'll see when you pull into the long drive ways, the most adorable farmstand. 

In the woods on the side of the tiny house, you'll find the maple orchard and sugar shack 

Sara was very warm and informative about the farming process with my daughter. 

Perfect little nook to grab a snack. The interior was simple and sweet. A place to lay your head to rest and a place to share a meal with someone special. 

A functioning farm, you'll see a few visitors at the greenhouse coming to pick up produce.
