Stone City

1 site · Lodging20 acres · Hardwick, VT
You will feel the stresses of life wash away as you sway in the trees and listen to the sounds of the beautiful stream just feet from the treehouse deck. You'll never want to leave! Enjoy a bit of solitude or some special alone time with a loved one. It's hard to beat Stone City Treehouse to make your time away special! After your day of hiking, skiing, or touring local breweries and distilleries, come home to this beautiful, private tiny house in the trees! Or, just spend the day lazily relaxing by the fire and reading, while the sound of the stream soothes you. Walk through the woods, up the stairs, and enter into another dimension - one that you won't want to leave! Much thought was put into the design and local, natural, and recycled materials were a priority in its construction. We prioritize our earth and take environmental considerations into every decision: we generate solar electricity; we compost and recycle; we use environmentally friendly cleaning products; we avoid disposable items as much as possible; and we used many local and recycled materials in the construction of the treehouse.

Little Sister's Campsite

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents25 acres · Newport, VT
As private as private gets but only 6 miles to Newport Vt. There is a creek and a one acre pond (20 feet deep). It is all mixed hard and softwoods. It has some magnificent old growth trees 100 foot tall. There is a good rd that my friend has used with his Lincoln. Most any vehicle (car or Pickup)can get to the site. It gets a little tricky if you are pulling a trailer. A small one is OK but a large one - not so much....... The rd goes 1/2 mile to the rear of the land. Moose, deer and other critters visit too. We live 1/2 mile away from where you enter the woodlot. Our house is on Brownington Pond (200+ acres) & campers can use this site for swimming, boating & fishing. For more info call 863220 5881 Excellent drinking water is available from the hose at our house. Fires are allowed and we supply the firewood at no extra charge.

Vermont National Forest Home

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Rochester, VT
**In the winter (December-March), we HIGHLY recommend a vehicle with dedicated snow tires or chains. AWD is good but sometimes insufficient. Home is in rural Vermont with a steep driveway.** Get away from it all in a secluded home atop a mountain in the VT National Forest. Home with large deck and panoramic view of the Green Mountains. Idyllic in all seasons. Summer is lusciously green; fall colors seen from our deck; the magic of winter. Tons of privacy, but minutes from lovely town of Rochester. Tubing and swimming holes nearby, tons of hiking and biking trails and berry picking nearby. Our home has been in the family for the 40+ years since it was built and well cared for that whole time. Uniquely situated, the house is 10 minutes from the town of Rochester, but high up in the hills on 2 acres of land. The photos do not even begin to do justice to our view. The house is the perfect combination of rustic cabin with comforts of home. We have 3 closed bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 2 twins) and a queen-sized futon in an open room on the lower level. Two full bathrooms with tub/showers. The deck extends the length of the house and has a 180-degree view of the Green Mountains. One of the highlights of the home is the large built-in stone wood-burning fireplace. There is a large set of 40 stairs to climb to the entrance of the house. The house is rich in its amenities, but still rustic in its charm. We have fiber-optic internet and wifi, fridge, range, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee machine, extra-large capacity washer and dryer, and small gas grill. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking all meals. But it still feels like a remote cabin, filled with books to read and large sofas for relaxing in front of the fire. In the Great Hawk housing community, at the bottom of the mountain, there is a swimming pond, tennis court and pickleball court (bring your own racquets and balls!), and a small play structure for kids. We also have a pack-n-play, clip-on highchair, toys, board games, etc. It's a great home for kids of all ages. Short drive to many hikes, cross-country ski, and snowshoe, including the Long Trail. The town ploughs the roads to the house and our caretaker ploughs the steep driveway, but we have had icy winters and snow tires or chains help a lot. There is no cell service for the last 5 minutes of the drive if you need assistance or get stuck.

Buck Ridge Lodge

4 sites · Lodging2 acres · Wilmington, VT
After a long day of winter fun, come get warm and cozy in front of the fire at Rustic Buck Ridge Lodge! Located 2 miles from the base of Mount Snow in the Green Mountains, Buck Ridge Lodge is a throwback to the “golden age” of skiing. Rustic yet comfortable, the lodge is perfect for budget conscious and community minded folks who want to be close to all the winter action and adventure the Southern VT area affords. Built in the 1940s as a 1 room cabin (complete with outhouse, open hearth, and spring on the property), the Lodge has been updated over the years thanks to the dedication of community volunteers - handcrafted furniture, artwork, and stonework all contribute to the rustic ambiance. Minutes from the base of Mount Snow, skiing/boarding opportunities abound on the slopes, or at a nearby XC Ski Center. Sledding, ice skating, and tubing are all within 10-15 minutes drive. Great dining and drinking options can be found in the towns of Dover/West Dover (5-10 minute drive) and Wilmington (15 minute drive). Many local markets are close by for grocery shopping, and a laundromat and Shaws Market can be found in Wilmington for your laundry/grocery needs. Centrally located to other mountain resorts (Okemo, Bromley/Magic, Stratton, Killington), opportunities for skiing/boarding are endless. Our guests will appreciate having a warm, comfy place to shower, make a meal, rest, and enjoy the fire after a long day on the slopes. Other adventurous, cultural pursuits found within an hour include: North Adams and Mass MoCA, historic Brattleboro (awesome concert venue here!), great shopping (Outlets in Manchester), and so much more. NOTE: this is a shared, community space, with the lodge manager living on-site. Expect hostel style shared accommodations in a charming lodge built in the 1940s. Single/twin bunk beds are offered (bring pillows/sleeping bags), and a King size platform bed may be available (though not promised or guaranteed). There is a fully equipped, communal kitchen (pots, pans, crock and instant pots, etc.), 3 private bathrooms, 2 private shower stalls, 1 large communal dining table and 1 smaller communal breakfast area, and a shared living room with stone fireplace. An equipment room and cubbies are available to store your gear. There is a fire pit outside (bring your own wood). As Lodge accommodations are rustic and shared, we ask that only responsible, community-minded guests over 25 years of age consider staying with us. You are welcome to add one additional guest (provide photo ID) at the same rate at checkout.
