Harold's View Farm

Former Dairy Farm but, the milking and hay barns burned many years Past. Harold's View Farm now camping. There are 4 entrances to the 80 acres of hay fields, now camping sites. Three entrances are for two sites each, the house entrance is for any questions. Please stop in if you have questions. The fields have been maintained to some degree until 2019 when Lee came up with the idea of primitive camping. The land turns out to be ideal because each site makes you feel like the only campers there. New this year you will find a picnic table for 6 and a 3 Ft. dia. fire pit with adjustable grill that flips out for open fire @ each site. Another new item is open to the sky "Hot Shower"

A short drive will bring you to Willoughby Lake, Kingdom Trails, and Burke Mt. We will Be Closing for the season on the 14th of November 2024. Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

BlueberryHill Field Camp

The field is adjacent to the Blueberry Hill Inn and Outdoor and in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest and Moosalamoo Recreation Area. Great sunsets! We offer access to outdoor showers with hot and cold running water and toilets in the nearby Outdoor Center. There is an internet connection near the buildings but not necessarily at your site. You can drive your car to the site. There is privacy between the sites though occasionally there are other tents in the open field. You can forage for wood for a small fire or you can request 'bundles' (a small cartful) to be available upon arrival. Wood from outside Vermont is not allowed. Access to many hiking/biking/running trails just outside your tent door. We are stewards of these trails and your camping fees help to support our work. Nearby swimming, kayaking, and canoeing are available too. We provide trail maps upon arrival and you can also view them online from our webpage at Blueberry Hill Inn. Shaker Mountain Refuge

Shaker Mountain Refuge sits on 300, mostly wooded acres at the foot of the Green Mountains. With outstanding views of Camel's Hump (Vermont's second tallest peak), the refuge is a wonderful place to sit back, relax and enjoy the natural world. There are numerous hiking trails on site, as well as a beautiful swimming pond. Access to Camels Hump hiking trails is a short drive away. Farm Craft Vermont

Our Regenerative Herb Farm sits on 15-acres of rolling hills full of wildflowers and gardens. We owned an ecological landscape design/build company for 15 years so the gardens, meadows, woodlands and trails are wild with biodiversity and color. We give guided tours weekly upon request and discuss the ecological restoration efforts that are underway as well as our 'Seed to Soap' project that is Farm Craft VT. Our Farm Store is open daily from 8-8 and is self-serve. All sites have fire-pits (don't forget to order a firewood bundle), room for a group of 4-6, and views of starry skies. Please Note - none of the campsites are accessible by car. They don't have electricity or air conditioning - yup it's camping, just a wee bit more comfortable. For the complete Farm Craft VT experience, book a guided-farm tour on our website where you can smell the herbs, taste the honey from our hives, learn about how essential oils are distilled, how seed oils are pressed and handcrafted soap is made on site. North of Eden Woods

Formerly a sheep farm in the early 20th century, North of Eden Woods was purchased by the current owners in 1999 as an undeveloped 150+ acre woodlot to create a personal Thoreau-at-Walden living experience. In the beginning, Ted lived in an converted school bus with his two dogs as he worked to build a log house from scratch. In the spring of 2000, a small cabin (Meadow-View Off-Grid Vermont Cabin) was built and lived in for 2 years while the main off-grid log home was built. Trees were dropped, bark was peeled, mortar was mixed, and logs were stacked up in the shape of a house that is now our home. In 2005, Liza joined the dream and we continue to improve our sustainable lifestyle, learn about our surroundings, and raise our 3 kids, three dogs and one goldfish. We manage the forest for wildlife, aesthetic purposes and renewable resources such as firewood, timber, aquaculture, and maple syrup production. Orchard House at Peck Farm

The Orchard House at Peck Farm Orchard is the building where we serve our customers during our orchard season September through October. The property is located on a dirt road in rural Vermont and is surrounded by conserved land in current farm use. Please note: This property has been repurposed for the very special event of the full eclipse April 8th, 2024. Travel and weather in Vermont in April can be like summer, like winter, something in between and all of it in one day. Please pack and plan accordingly. Spring(March-May) travel can be very muddy. The building is made of rough cut wood from our farm property and features a cook stove, power, refrigerator and access to an outdoor fire circle. The floor is concrete so an air mattress or better yet a cot is recommended. Is you plan on using the wood cook stove please let us know. While the cookstove can provide some heat and the ability to cook it does not heat the whole building very well. There are outlets for use in the building. There is one string of plug in lights, no other lighting is installed. A traditional outhouse is located just 50 yards from the Orchard House. Drinkable well water is available upon request with 24 hours notice. 2 miles from the Orchard House is a small cooperative country store with food supplies. The Peck Farm Orchard is located on a beautiful 4 mile loop frequently used by runners and walkers. There is easy access to local hiking trails and snowmobile/skiing trails. The orchard and parking area is located on 18 acres with access to trails spanning more than a thousand acres.

Where to go

Lake Champlain

Often referred to as the sixth Great Lake, Lake Champlain is a huge freshwater lake flanked by the Green Mountains and the Adriondacks. Nearly half of the lake is in Vermont, parts of it are also in New York and Quebec, and it's known for boating, sea kayaking, swimming, and an array of camping experiences. Campers will find a variety of options near Lake Champlain from RV sites with full hookups and dump stations, and glamping sites near Burlington and St. Alban, to state parks with tent sites right on the lakeshore of Grand Isle and Burton Island.

The Northeast Kingdom

The northeast corner of Vermont is the state's wildest and most remote region, filled with world-class mountain biking trails and challenging hiking trails. Several state parks dot the area, including some with the northeast's most charming campgrounds: Brighton State Park, where you'll find lakeside camping and waterfront cabins, and Maidstone State Park, a favorite among fishermen.

Green Mountain National Forest

Featuring rolling hills of dense forest and some of the best fall foliage shows in the northeast, Green Mountain National Forest is one of Vermont's top outdoor destinations. Hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing weave through the Green Mountains along with nearly a dozen national forest campgrounds and day-use areas.

When to go

Summer is the best time for camping, hiking, kayaking, and paddling in Vermont. Most Vermont state parks are open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, although some parks are open through the second Monday in October and others open earlier and stay open later. Fall is especially lovely, when the leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow—catch the show in late September in the northern part of the state or mid-October in the south. Ski season typically runs from December through March.

Know before you go

Vermont State Park reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. Reservations can be made online, by calling the state park's reservations center, or by calling the park directly (during open season).
Many Vermont State Parks have "lean-to" campsites featuring a 3-sided structure that can shelter campers from wind and help keep gear dry. Some campers set up tents inside the lean-to, and others just use it for cooking and staying dry.
Some Green Mountain National Forest and Groton State Forest campgrounds can be reserved ahead of time online. Plenty of first-come, first-served campsites are also available.
