Sesame and Manolito, since then, we have been growing and growing, having now, 25 goats, milking 10 mothers, by hand. With all the fun, that is involve with a farm, we have been making cheese in our kitchen and building a barn. It is time to get the license, for cheese making, and here is when we need your help.We need 20.000 to finish building the barn, with a kitchen, a bathroom, an industrial pasteuriser, a septic system, and much more. That is why we are asking you to chip in a help us finish our dream. If you will like to support small farming please learn about our La Lu farm go to go fund me, We have been doing a CSA, in wich Constancia drives around her Suburu and delivers the cheese, to many awesome supporters at the farm. We are truly greatfull, for their support, but we need more. We need you!Chip in, share with a friend, stop by, try our cheese, be a part of our dream.Luckily we have been able to share our farm, with many woofers, with many schools, yurt lovers and community members, that enjoyed coming to the farm and learn how to milk, how to make cheese, and how to take care of the grapes.La Lu farm: Local Agricultural land use on lincoln Gap rdLa Lu farm is a small goat farm located in the green mountains of Vermont , in Warren. The Argentinean Constancia Gomez and Ex Sugarbush executive chef Kevin Ritchie innovate everyday with new recipes coming up with the best fresh goat cheese flavors in town. We are artisan cheese producers. We are farming 48 acres mostly wooded both sides of Lincoln Brook, on Lincoln Gap rd. We are reclaiming some meadows. We have 26 goats, 20 chickens. Milking now 10 mothers by hand, making cheese in small batches fresh, every day. We make 7 types of cheeses:Chevre, mozzarella, feta, queso blanco, apple wood smoked queso blanco, type of Manchego, and a ripened cheese. Our goal is to preserve and protect the land while using organic principles to produce products for local consumption and enjoyment. Our Chèvre is a fresh, smooth creamy goats spread, with a little bit of tang with hints of berry bushes and clover. Great for appetizers, to mix with herbs, spread on toast with butter, to add to scramble eggs and much more! Our queso blanco is spanish for white cheese, latin america specialty. This cheese is a firm cheese, with a fresh mildly sweet flavor. Great for cooking! Does not melt while fried or grilled! Take on the flavor of the food and spices in a recipe! Our Apple wood smoked queso blanco is spanish for white cheese and is marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. Great for cooking, for appetizers and for salads. Our Feta is strongly flavored salted cheese, originated in Greece. Often crumbled in little pieces on salads or tacos. Our goat Mozzarella is a firm style cheese with with a slight tang. Good on pizzas, flat bread or marinated with basil and tomatoes. Thanks for supporting local farmers.Stop by for a mate, and pet the goats, milk them, feed them and share the love for nature.

Hay Fever Farm

1 site · Lodging75 acres · Craftsbury, VT
We live on 75 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry is a self-taught hay-farmer since we moved from the mid-west in 2007. The property was a fallow dairy farm from the 70's. It used to be called Common View Farm. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story?  Larry farms about 30 acres of the property; square bales for horses. The rest are woods. We have our own old mare, Ruby, which gave Larry the haying idea. She has two goat buddies, Danny-Boy and Brownie (guess what color he is?). Our dog, Tinker, runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans.  Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. When in season, you are free to pick! The house on the property, Larry built. It's a beauty. He also has two shops and some barns. No shortage of farm implements. You are welcome to walk to your heart's content and to visit Ruby and the boys.  Learn more about this land:The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area.  You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns.  In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing.  Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, (please refer to directions in the wagon on how to use the solar electricity and propane stove), coffee/tea set ups, basic spices,  paper towels, TP, linens/towels, soap, cooking/eating utensils provided. Wi-Fi is not available and cell coverage is spotty.  There is a 'fancy' privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up.  If you'd like a shower, this can be coordinated in the house, next door. This wagon has a small sleeping berth (cozy for either 2 people who really like each other or a solitary gypsy). This is truly tiny space, however. You will have a table and chairs for a sit down chat or meal.  Enjoy the outdoor kitchen area and fire ring with plenty of fallen wood nearby for a fire in the ring or the chiminaria.  In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised.  Craftsbury is a farming, skiing and educational community. Food growers, cheese makers, brewers, Sterling College and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center are the backbone of our economy. We are a hop, skip and a jump from Farmstead Brewery, Jasper Hill (or Cellers) cheese makers, Circus Smirkus, Bread and Puppet radical political theater. The Museum of Everyday Life, and the Highland Arts Center. I love it here and my guess is you will, too, if you like mountain views, great day hikes, local food and drink and a laid back vibe.

North of Eden Woods

5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents150 acres · Lowell, VT
Formerly a sheep farm in the early 20th century, North of Eden Woods was purchased by the current owners in 1999 as an undeveloped 150+ acre woodlot to create a personal Thoreau-at-Walden living experience. In the beginning, Ted lived in an converted school bus with his two dogs as he worked to build a log house from scratch. In the spring of 2000, a small cabin (Meadow-View Off-Grid Vermont Cabin) was built and lived in for 2 years while the main off-grid log home was built. Trees were dropped, bark was peeled, mortar was mixed, and logs were stacked up in the shape of a house that is now our home. In 2005, Liza joined the dream and we continue to improve our sustainable lifestyle, learn about our surroundings, and raise our 3 kids, three dogs and one goldfish. We manage the forest for wildlife, aesthetic purposes and renewable resources such as firewood, timber, aquaculture, and maple syrup production. Our property is the living document that is the book of our life. ...We are constantly editing, adding to, and improving our story.
