Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains of Vermont, Sky Hollow Farm has a rich history spanning from an 1800s sheep farm to its transformation into a summer camp, and now our beautiful homestead where we keep pigs, horses, chickens, and a lush vegetable garden. This 120-acre property boasts 3 swimming ponds, a wood-fired sauna, a lovely creek, and miles of hiking and biking trails connecting directly to Rochester's network of Ridgeline mountain biking trails and the National Forest. Not to mention, Sky Hollow is minutes from Killington, Sugarbush, and Mad River Glen for world-renowned skiing and snowboarding. The Hunter Cabin or Creek Cabin are excellent choices for a tranquil nature retreat. These one-bedroom cabins offer a unique stay with minimalistic, quaint furnishings. Both kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, stove-top, and cooking utensils. These spaces also offer outdoor amenities including an outdoor shower and outhouse. Dogs are welcome and must be leashed or under voice command at all times. A pet fee of $50 per pet for any length of stay is required. Sorry, but no cats allowed due to allergy concerns. There are free-range chickens on the property. All walking trails are available to guests and are marked. Please avoid areas around other buildings on Sky Hollow to allow all guests their privacy. All barns and sheds are also private. The Village of Rochester features great eateries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a bakery, a lovely public library, art gallery, antique store, a great playground at the elementary school, swimming holes, yoga studio, and more. It is within driving distance of larger towns like Rutland and Killington, Middlebury, Waitsfield, and Warren, and West Lebanon NH for day trips. Public transportation is a 20+ minute drive away - a vehicle is necessary (4-wheel drive and snow tires are required in the winter months). Parking for 1-2 vehicles is available. The owner has golden retriever (Kodak) - he is friendly and (usually!) well-behaved but does bark and run to greet you, so please drive slowly and don't be alarmed! We also have 1 cat and several friendly horses who occasionally graze in view of the cabins. Please be aware of electrified fencing (especially with small children!). Maple syrup and eggs are offered for sale when available. Please consider that you may or may not have cell service during your stay - AT&T has good coverage, but Verizon is spotty... there is a nice rock (Lion King Rock) on the mountaintop where it works well! Check coverage maps for other carriers. While all of our spaces have high-speed WiFi, incredible views, shared access to the sauna, swimming pond, and trails; Sky Hollow Farm has the ability to offer a variety of experiences. **In the winter (December-March), we HIGHLY recommend a vehicle with dedicated snow tires or chains. AWD is good but sometimes insufficient. Home is in rural Vermont with a steep driveway.** Get away from it all in a secluded home atop a mountain in the VT National Forest. Home with large deck and panoramic view of the Green Mountains. Idyllic in all seasons. Summer is lusciously green; fall colors seen from our deck; the magic of winter. Tons of privacy, but minutes from lovely town of Rochester. Tubing and swimming holes nearby, tons of hiking and biking trails and berry picking nearby. Our home has been in the family for the 40+ years since it was built and well cared for that whole time. Uniquely situated, the house is 10 minutes from the town of Rochester, but high up in the hills on 2 acres of land. The photos do not even begin to do justice to our view. The house is the perfect combination of rustic cabin with comforts of home. We have 3 closed bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 2 twins) and a queen-sized futon in an open room on the lower level. Two full bathrooms with tub/showers. The deck extends the length of the house and has a 180-degree view of the Green Mountains. One of the highlights of the home is the large built-in stone wood-burning fireplace. There is a large set of 40 stairs to climb to the entrance of the house. The house is rich in its amenities, but still rustic in its charm. We have fiber-optic internet and wifi, fridge, range, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee machine, extra-large capacity washer and dryer, and small gas grill. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking all meals. But it still feels like a remote cabin, filled with books to read and large sofas for relaxing in front of the fire. In the Great Hawk housing community, at the bottom of the mountain, there is a swimming pond, tennis court and pickleball court (bring your own racquets and balls!), and a small play structure for kids. We also have a pack-n-play, clip-on highchair, toys, board games, etc. It's a great home for kids of all ages. Short drive to many hikes, cross-country ski, and snowshoe, including the Long Trail. The town ploughs the roads to the house and our caretaker ploughs the steep driveway, but we have had icy winters and snow tires or chains help a lot. There is no cell service for the last 5 minutes of the drive if you need assistance or get stuck.

The river house is an off grid house/cabin on 20 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of protected national forest. It is a half mile hike-in or 4 wheel drive in up a logging road. It is very private, with running water and a shower and 1 1/2 bathrooms, a loft, 2 bedrooms and ping pong table. A stream runs through the property that has small swimming holes and larger swimming holes are just a short drive away. Hikes galore are just out the door, and many many more are just a short drive away.

My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. The deck with the Yurt is the beginning of an eventual cabin. I live in the main house from late May until late October and decided to share it with like minded nature loving folks. The land is on the crest of the ridge looking East to Danville and the White Mts, and a few feet to the West the entire Green Mts splay before you. The water tastes wonderful, and bubbles up here and there on the property. Our neighbors who also offer camping have sheep, to berries... Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! OTHER ACTIVITIES - Smugglers Notch is a quick drive (South) - Jay Peak is a quick drive (North) - Disc Golf, Ropes Course, Golf, and more. - Access local eateries like the Burger Barn - a local favorite, grap a yummy sandwich or pizza at the Cupboard. - Explore local breweries and distilleries - Forgot something? There are small groceries, a couple of hardware stores, gas stations, etc within a quick drive. Camp sites include flat area, fire ring. Electricity and water at 2 sites. 1 site has a poured concrete pad -- perfect for a camper/RV. The other sites (grassy) can accomodate a camper/RV or tents. Please be prepared to provide your own camping toilet and pack out your trash. If you bring your dog(s), please clean up after them and have "control" as the dirt road is fully in view of the sites. Its a 15 min drive from Okemo/Ludlow, 10min drive from the Appalachian trail (7.9 mile walk) and there are 3 other Ski resorts within an hour of us as well as numerous lakes and hiking trails. Just 2 miles up the road is Star Lake and the quaint town of Belmont. Our 7 acres sits on the Northside of Belmont hill. Half of it is open with several gardens to meander through. There is a pergola filled with kiwis and wisteria and a hammock for lounging. A shady grape arbor filled with white grapes that we have made wine with. On property we have a tree fort, greenhouse, chickens and pigs. We do provide fresh eggs for sale. There is a medium pond in the back for swimming, a large fire pit for fires and but the Hip Shack comes with its own fire pit/grill combo. Wood bundle's are also available. There is a rudimentary outdoor toilet and shower. The shower can be filled with hot water using the faucet by the garage. All water from hoses, pump hoses and faucets is the same drinkable well water, collected from the many underground springs that also feed into the pond.

Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning mountain views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wildlife habitat. Walking and hiking places abound, and a magnificent, pure river with clear pools and waterfalls is just a few minutes’ walk down the road. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. Metta Earth has many structures and spaces to support individuals and groups. The main house has a newly renovated, lovely commercial kitchen space, a dining area, a large, covered porch, a handicapped access bathroom, a yoga/program room, and selected rooms and suites for sleeping. We also have an outdoor pavilion for yoga and other gatherings, and a heritage barn with a barn loft. Please do keep in mind that Metta Earth is a farm based, country retreat center, rustic, yet clean, cared for, and colorful. Outdoor Pavilion We have a 20’ x 24’ outdoor, open structure for groups made from tree poles and covered with a golden colored canvas tarp. The ground is grassy and well maintained. This space can comfortably support 10-15 yoga mats or seating options in a big circle. Heritage Barn Loft Of all the structures and spaces at Metta Earth, the barn loft is one of our most favorite rooms. On the second floor of the heritage barn, this space is often used for drying herbs for teas. It can also be used for gatherings of about 10 or so people. We like to roll out a rug on the wooden, pine floor or use our sheepskins and handmade wool meditation rugs for comfortable sitting. There are two tall windows looking out over the south pasture that cast light on the wooden beams of the barn. This space shines with the soul and warmth of Earth. Bring a bathing suit and gear for swims in the beautiful nearby New Haven River. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We usually provide a mattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

This site has its own driveway and has room for multiple tents. This site also features a small fire pit. We are a working Saffron farm, as well as poultry keepers. Please do keep this mind while booking. While both sites are quite secluded, we are home and working most of the time which does mean you may see us or the animals and other farm equipment. The Wells River and Newbury area has much to offer the outdoors type. We are centrally located in Vermont providing easy access to most attractions in Vermont as well as the White Mountains of NH. Dogs must be kept on leash and it is imperative for us to know if you will be bringing dogs as we have four and they free range.
