Cozy, warm cabin with excellent access to nearby trails/ski resorts. Cabin has soft mattresses to sleep on- just bring a blanket, sleeping bag, and pillow(s) and you're good! Woodstove got the cabin warm in no time. Eric the ranger was great at communicating with me and even had a fire started with the cabin warm before I got there! Thank you again for that :) I will be staying again!

Weekend Trip to Texas Hill Brook & Dark Star Cabin

This was my first time using Hipcamp and Julia made it super memorable and easy. I would definitely camp here again, Julia and her husband were such great hosts. They lit up the fire pit for us before we arrived. They provided us with everything we needed especially camping in the winter time. Also communication 10/10, it was hard trying to find the site at first, I texted Julia and she guided how to get there.

We took our Girl Scout Troop winter camping in the Handicraft Cabin. It was a great experience. Ranger Eric was very helpful and responsive to questions before we got there. When we arrived we found that he had plowed us easy access to the site and the latrines. The wood for inside was also well stocked. We will definitely be booking again!

Great quiet spot on the river with a large fire pit. We slept to the sounds of the river, perfect! And there’s an electrical outlet to use!

Weekend Trip to Field and Forest

We absolutely loved staying in the yurt! Sarah was so kind, showed us how to work the woodstove, and made sure we had everything we needed. It was such a peaceful getaway with a group of friends. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use (and super cute with the lights at night!). Highly recommend a stay here!

I went with a group of 11 people. We had an absolute blast. It really felt like we were kids again at a summer camp. We went late octobre when the night start to get really cold, but the heating system in the cabin was fantastic and we were really comfortable at night. The lake is simply beautiful and the site is huge.

Stayed at the tent site, it was clean and easy to access. Traditional setup with a simple flat grassy area for the tent, fire ring and a picnic table. Awesome host, fresh produce, and beautiful view, would stay again!

Vermont National Forest Home

**In the winter (December-March), we HIGHLY recommend a vehicle with dedicated snow tires or chains. AWD is good but sometimes insufficient. Home is in rural Vermont with a steep driveway.** Get away from it all in a secluded home atop a mountain in the VT National Forest. Home with large deck and panoramic view of the Green Mountains. Idyllic in all seasons. Summer is lusciously green; fall colors seen from our deck; the magic of winter. Tons of privacy, but minutes from lovely town of Rochester. Tubing and swimming holes nearby, tons of hiking and biking trails and berry picking nearby. Our home has been in the family for the 40+ years since it was built and well cared for that whole time. Uniquely situated, the house is 10 minutes from the town of Rochester, but high up in the hills on 2 acres of land. The photos do not even begin to do justice to our view. The house is the perfect combination of rustic cabin with comforts of home. We have 3 closed bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 2 twins) and a queen-sized futon in an open room on the lower level. Two full bathrooms with tub/showers. The deck extends the length of the house and has a 180-degree view of the Green Mountains. One of the highlights of the home is the large built-in stone wood-burning fireplace. There is a large set of 40 stairs to climb to the entrance of the house. The house is rich in its amenities, but still rustic in its charm. We have fiber-optic internet and wifi, fridge, range, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee machine, extra-large capacity washer and dryer, and small gas grill. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking all meals. But it still feels like a remote cabin, filled with books to read and large sofas for relaxing in front of the fire. In the Great Hawk housing community, at the bottom of the mountain, there is a swimming pond, tennis court and pickleball court (bring your own racquets and balls!), and a small play structure for kids. We also have a pack-n-play, clip-on highchair, toys, board games, etc. It's a great home for kids of all ages. Short drive to many hikes, cross-country ski, and snowshoe, including the Long Trail. The town ploughs the roads to the house and our caretaker ploughs the steep driveway, but we have had icy winters and snow tires or chains help a lot. There is no cell service for the last 5 minutes of the drive if you need assistance or get stuck.

My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. Metta Earth Farm Stay

Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning mountain views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wildlife habitat. Walking and hiking places abound, and a magnificent, pure river with clear pools and waterfalls is just a few minutes’ walk down the road. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. Metta Earth has many structures and spaces to support individuals and groups. The main house has a newly renovated, lovely commercial kitchen space, a dining area, a large, covered porch, a handicapped access bathroom, a yoga/program room, and selected rooms and suites for sleeping. We also have an outdoor pavilion for yoga and other gatherings, and a heritage barn with a barn loft. Please do keep in mind that Metta Earth is a farm based, country retreat center, rustic, yet clean, cared for, and colorful. Outdoor Pavilion We have a 20’ x 24’ outdoor, open structure for groups made from tree poles and covered with a golden colored canvas tarp. The ground is grassy and well maintained. This space can comfortably support 10-15 yoga mats or seating options in a big circle. Heritage Barn Loft Of all the structures and spaces at Metta Earth, the barn loft is one of our most favorite rooms. On the second floor of the heritage barn, this space is often used for drying herbs for teas. It can also be used for gatherings of about 10 or so people. We like to roll out a rug on the wooden, pine floor or use our sheepskins and handmade wool meditation rugs for comfortable sitting. There are two tall windows looking out over the south pasture that cast light on the wooden beams of the barn. This space shines with the soul and warmth of Earth. Bring a bathing suit and gear for swims in the beautiful nearby New Haven River. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We usually provide a mattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Cabot has lots to offer for day trips, be it water sports, rail trail on bikes or walking, music, and cultural events, or purchasing fresh milk, beef, eggs, apples, cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour drive in any direction. A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators. Massage including scar release, and MPS, Cranial Release, energy work with tuning forks and singing bowls are available. Singing bowl concert in the gardens can also happen! Expect the unexpected! The field is located next to the Blueberry Hill Inn and Outdoor, nestled in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest and the Moosalamoo Recreation Area—offering stunning sunsets! We provide access to outdoor showers with hot and cold running water, as well as restrooms in the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center. You can drive your car right up to your site, which offers privacy, though you may occasionally see other tents in the open field. For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen pieces) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted. Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support our efforts. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center. Outer Space

Our property dates back to the early 1800’s where it began as a family farm and was operated that way until the 1960’s when it became a tree farm. In 1986 is when it entered our family. Learn more about this land: Both sites are located in beautiful Huntington, VT on the occupied lands of the Abenaki/Wabanaki. Texas Hill Brook camp site The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own. Dark Star Cabin Dark Star is the perfect base camp for your northern Vermont hiking and biking adventures! Comfortable accommodations for 6 in a solar powered cabin. Located in Huntington close to some of Vermont’s best trails, Dark Star is a short hike (less than a mile) from a private, secure parking area. The hike is not difficult, but ground is uneven, some of it is uphill, and it may be wet. Note that this property is HIKE-IN ONLY and pack in/pack out (i.e. you will need to pack out all trash, etc.). Unwind in the wood-fired sauna, lounge on the deck under the stars, sharing stories of your escapades and planning the next day’s adventures. Pull-out queen sofa bed on the main floor plus 2 full size beds in the loft. Pillows are provided but bring your own linens. The Hollow at Dynamite Falls

Full of scenic waterfalls along a Vermont mountain brook, our young daughter named the land after dynamite was found during renovations of the former one-room schoolhouse on the property 5 years ago. Naturalists will love the brookside trails, many dipping pools, a zip line, hammocks, and a privy with a woodland view. There are several scenic campsites on the 150 acres, but only one will be rented each night to ensure a special experience. Wifi and power available across the brook outside the farmhouse as needed. No cell service. Spend lazy days exploring the woods, reading a book in a hammock, or sunning yourself on a rock in the river. A newer, larger tent is being set up for a May 2025 launch. Roxbury is the geographic center of Vermont - which makes it a great basecamp for adventures. Warren / Sugarbush is 20-25 minutes to the west. Montpelier is 20 minutes to the north. Randolph is 20 minutes to the south. Two brewpubs are within 15 minutes.

Sandiwood Farm Stay Experiences

The sunsets are some of the best in Vermont! Sandiwood Farm produces artisan maple syrup and grows organic produce, flowers, cannabis, hemp and other herbs. They also host farm dinners, weddings, and other events. You can get your hands dirty and work on the farm if you're interested. This is a 420 friendly farm with samples and tastings. 35 years ago, Bob and Sara Schlosser were married in the barren field that is now Sandiwood Farm. In the summer season, several organic farmstands and local picturesque swimming holes range between 5-15 minutes away. Autumn's glorious show is on display everywhere you look. Winter offers easy access to groomed VAST trails in the field behind the house and studio. Hopkins Center, AVA Gallery, the Lebanon Opera House, Northern Stage, and a wide array of restaurants are within 20 minutes. The Lyme bridge is now open, so there are more restaurants, trails, activities and the Dartmouth Skiway! Despite the proximity to town and even to my home, the simple studio space is serene in its sumac baby forest. The space is one of a kind, with a giant salvaged chapel window, cathedral ceilings, a candelabra, a clawfoot tub, a quirky outhouse, on-demand hot water, electricity and wifi. Good Night Moon Vintage

Looking for a warm and cozy space? Our vintage trailers are just the spot! Our property is heavily wooded and late spring through fall are great times to enjoy the outdoors. Our 12+ acres are beautifully wooded with our pond as the central point of interest. Original stone walls surround the property and wildlife abounds. Camping with a trailer is a fun experience for the adventurous. While we do not have a kitchen, we provide an outdoor 3 burner propane grill, BBQ grill and smoker, shared refrigerators, pans, utensils, and dishwashing area, Our picnic table and chairs are under our post and beam hemlock pavilion. The trailers are vintage, not new. Bring anything else that you want to add for your own comfort, such as a cooler and ice. We suggest bringing flashlights and rain gear. There are many choices for dining in our area if you prefer to eat out. Our Curtis Wright is 74 years old and the El Rey is 65. Please expect some vintage aspects, such as door handles, screens, windows, awnings etc. that function according to their age. These are not new modern trailers and we think that adds to the appeal! However they are clean and cozy! Your trailer is down by the pond, with the composting outhouse, stove and BBQ grill. Our sweet wildlife clay bottom pond is pristine, spring fed, and has an abundance of wildlife in and around it. You may even see the barred owls hunting for frogs at night. Both trailers are pondside, the El Rey is across from the Curtis Wright. Swimming is allowed during daylight hours only and it is "Swim at your own Risk". Please read the house rules regarding rinsing off prior to swimming and refraining from getting suntan oil etc. in the pond. We rent either the 1955 El Rey or our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream. Nights can be chilly so be prepared with warm clothes. Please be aware of weather conditions as rain can impact your camping! That’s part of what makes it so fun to be inside a trailer instead of in a tent on the ground! You are welcome to build a fire in the fire pit and toast marshmallows or grill.... Kindling is available as fallen branches however for larger wood, please purchase locally for whatever you intend to use, or order from us. We do ask that you start your fire the old fashioned way and do NOT use gas, diesel etc. which will leech into the pond and harm our wildlife. We usually have wood on site for sale, advance request is much appreciated and please pay upon arrival with cash, $10 per ample sized bundle and $15 for a bag of charcoal. We do not deliver wood after 5pm so please be sure to order in advance. Our wonderful resident bats do a great job at night clearing insects! Sit out by the pond and watch them arrive at dusk! Our Phoebe Flycatchers build their mud nests all over the property and have 2 baby bird hatchings usually by mid-summer. They help keep insects down as well. If it’s a clear night, the stars are usually amazing in the sky over the pond. We live up in the house we are still building above the trailers and are available to you at arrival and if you need us. We prefer that you do contact us with your needs to ensure a great experience. For showers, guests can make the 5.7 mile drive down to Quechee State Park and pay a $4 day fee to use the solar showers which take quarters. The park closes mid October each year. If you reserve after that date there will not be showers available. Our place is close to Woodstock and Quechee VT. You’ll love us if you enjoy a natural setting on a mountain. We are best for couples and solo adventurers. It is a rustic environment with a great wildlife pond and woods surrounded by old stone walls. Get out and explore the area and come home at night to the cozy vintage trailer. Our 1955 El Rey OR our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream are our seasonal rentals, a cozy 20 feet in length. If one is rented we will give you the other trailer. The beds are somewhere between a full and queen, we provide fresh linens, pillows, blankets. Each trailer has front table and seating area, outside are two Adirondack chairs and an umbrella. The El Rey has its own smaller private fire pit and a small grill. You may cook on the shared 3 burner propane stove near the pavilion. We have firewood and charcoal for sale onsite with 24 hour advance notice. Included in your stay is salt and pepper, organic tea, electric kettle, complimentary coffee and cream. We have our filtered well water available. We also have basic dishes, silverware and pots and pans for use. For chilly nights we have a small electric heater in the camper closet and extra blankets. There is a fan for when it’s warmer. Our composting toilet is inside a small barn structure with bug repellent and a first aid kit. For showers, head down to Quechee State Park and for a $4.00 entrance fee, use their solar showers which take quarters. PLEASE NOTE- you do not have our property to yourselves. We live onsite and on any given night, both trailers can be rented. They are across the pond from each other. The cook station, picnic table/benches under the pavilion and composting toilet are communally used. We do give our guests privacy but we are available to assist with needs by phone, or if you see us on the property. We will close camp in October and re-open each May. IMPORTANT-PLEASE PLAN TO CHECK IN BETWEEN 3 and 6:30 pm. We understand that you may wish to arrive later at the end of your day, but this is not a location where we can accommodate arrivals after dark. We need to show you the nuances of the trailers, cook station, composting outhouse and property. After checking in, you can head back out for dinner, shopping etc. as we are a mere 5 miles from Quechee. We further request that you communicate your arrival time no later that early the day of so that we can greet you. We plan our day around your arrival and ask that you respect our time as well. Unfortunately we are experiencing too many guests who choose to arrive well after dark, which impacts our availability to provide you the best check in service and interrupts our evening late into the night. Please communicate with us early in the day if you experience hardship regarding arrival time and we can discuss options. Any photography done with our property must be for personal use only and not professional use nor intended for publication. You must have advance (prior to arrival) permission for professional photography which will also require a contract for fees and terms. We also must restrict the use of our property to registered guests only, not your friends. We also require that you commit to requirements such as no smoking or open flame in trailers, use of pond, etc. All guests swim and hike our property at their own risk. We ask that you only swim during daylight hours. We are NOT a clothing optional space. Please respect all guests by swimming in appropriate clothing. Thank you. The Center Farm

This land is a very special place. The energy is calming and you will feel at peace with yourself after just a short time walking through the woods. This property was first purchased by my great grandfather in 1919. I was fortunate to be able to purchase it from my father in 2007. Much work was done to bring it back from being neglected and overgrown. The original buildings burned to the ground in 1948 and the property has been rebuilt over the last dozen years. It is a work in progress but also a labor of love. Enjoy a stay in this small rustic cabin. Experience peace and solitude while enjoying magnificent views atop forested hills offering stunning southeast views that overlook Vermont's central mountain ranges. The site is secluded and private and is ideally situated to view wildlife, allowing one to experience the outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. WiFi is available at the barn should there be the need to reconnect with the world at large. Two guests sleep comfortably in the cabin; four would be a little tight but manageable - there is ample room for tents if need be. The 8' x 8' cabin has one set of twin bunkbeds (bedding is not provided) and an 8' x 4' covered porch. In the colder seasons there is a propane Buddy Heater available to keep the cabin cozy. The outhouse with a composting toilet is situated close to the cabin. There is a fire ring on the stone patio with a cooking grate available for grilling. Pre-purchased firewood will be at the cabin, ready for your arrival. Additional wood is available for purchase on the way up to the cabin. Recently added is a portable kitchen, set up outside for an easier cooking experience as well as a wash bin for dishes. The cabin is also in close proximity to Hill Farmstead Brewery (7 miles), The Highland Center for the Arts (3 miles) and the Willey's Store (3.5 miles). The village of Hardwick (3 miles) offers local shops, markets, restaurants, Buffalo Mountain Co-op and Front Seat Coffee (an artisan coffee house also offering free WiFi). 13 miles from the town of Craftsbury and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, an olympic-style sport training facility catering to all ability levels. Additionally the central location offers access to many of Vermont's State Parks (Green River Reservoir State Park, Elmore State Park, Groton State Park, Crystal Lake State Park, Willoughby State Forest, Brighton State Park, just to name a few) offering daily access for hiking, fishing, swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing and kayaking.
