We have a 5 acre homestead/hobby farm that is nestled in the Sam Houston National Forest. We are off the beaten path with beautiful views, peace and quiet and farm animals! We have goats, donkeys, rabbits, a miniature cow, a miniature horse, a pony, ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks and chickens roaming our property. We just had a new addition Colt who was born on our property March 12th 2023. He is our precious little donkey. We are a semi primitive camping spot. Come and enjoy getting away from the city without going too far. Enjoy the beautiful star filled sky. Feed the animals at 9am and love on them all day. Have your professional pictures taken with some of the animals(additional charge). Buy some farm fresh eggs. We have t-shirts and other merchandise for purchase. We have two above ground pools in our backyard for your enjoyment. We just put in a deck for catch and release fishing. We have a hot tub for your relaxation from fall to spring. And being the fastest-growing city in Texas, Conroe has so much to offer. Conroe is bordered by 22,000-acre Lake Conroe, Sam Houston National Forest, and W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, making for a veritable utopia for the outdoor lover in us all. Aside from the outdoors, Conroe has a bustling downtown with breweries, theatres and plenty of shopping. There is also plenty of live music, which has earned Conroe the designation of Music Friendly Community by the state of Texas. Edge Of The Waters

2 sites · RVs1 acre · Port Bolivar, TX
Waterfront RV Port on Bolivar Peninsula. Water, sewer, and electric (20-30-50 amp panel) Covered RV spot with a screen porch. Property is fenced and dogs are welcome. The screened has a dining table with chairs, and also stores some patio chairs to use on the property. They are really great to sit on the dock! There is also a charcoal grill and a crab trap for you to use. (You need a fishing license and bait. Chicken bones works great!) Fishing is great here... the canals have been dredged and folks are catching right of the back of their lots. Community fishing area is on the end of both Van Sant and Mabry, Mabry has a boat ramp. These you cast right off a drop to the intracoastal. Beach Access via community gate at end of street. Combination for those will be shared in arrival instructions. Spot is a residential lot... It is 60 x 130. Canal City is a quiet residential area. The back side fronts on the water. You will probably see more seagulls and purple martins than people. We have weekly discounts. Message me and I can go over them because the Hipcamp platform makes them difficult. It works out to approximately 7 nights for the price of 5. Be prepared: Bolivar has mosquitoes. This is the coast. If it has rained they can be really bad. The county sprays on a regular rotation but it can be bad. They tend to swarm when you pull in. Spray helps. We also send recommendations for what sprays work best for us in the arrival instructions. We do not offer refunds for mosquitoes. We have never found them unmanageable, and the screen porch keeps them almost entirely away. We are east of Rollover Pass. Easiest to arrive through Winnie and south on 124. Unless you are coming from Galveston or southeast Houston it is probably shorter. The ferry is fun (dolphins and such) but the waits can be long. Also: Do not bring loose propane tanks or gasoline cans on the ferry, they will send you away. (Propane on RV is fine, but that is all they allow) https://www.txdot.gov/discover/ferry-boat-schedules/ferry-rules.html

RV camping near Crosby guide

Overview

Urban campers seeking outdoor adventures should consider making Crosby their basecamp. Less than a half-hour from downtown Houston, this suburban town is hemmed in by lakes, woodlands, and wetlands. Looking for nature walks and leisurely bike rides? Explore the Newport Park & Trails or head to Dwight D. Eisenhower Park for views across Lake Houston. Prefer your activities with a shot of adrenaline? Zip around miles of ATV trails at the Xtreme Off-Road Park, then splash down the waterslides into the San Jacinto River. There’s a choice of RV parks in town, as well as beachside camping along the river.

Where to go

Around Lake Houston

North of Crosby, the 160,000-acre Lake Houston is teeming with bass and crappie, and you can find quiet fishing spots along the shore or BYOB (bring your own boat) to cruise the lake. On the north shore, the Lake Houston Wilderness Park has trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, as well as backcountry camping.

Far North Houston

Further north from Lake Houston, the Sam Houston National Forest is an all-natural playground with miles of forest trails, woodland walks, and tranquil camping spots. Ardent hikers can set out along the 128-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail, but there are also plenty of shorter trails, many accessible for bikes, OHV, and horses. The forest is bounded by two lakes—Lake Conroe and Lake Livingston—where you can also swim, fish, and enjoy water sports.

Gulf Coast

The San Jacinto River winds its way south all the way to the Gulf Coast, where the coastal wetlands and beaches afford some of the best birding in Texas. RV parks dot the shores of Trinity Bay, but for beach camping, head south to Galveston Island State Park. Work up an appetite kayaking around the wetlands, then catch some fish shoreside to cook up around the campfire.

When to go

Camping is a year-round pastime in Crosby but the most pleasant weather for outdoor activities in spring and fall. Summers are hot and humid (expect daily averages of 94°F), so choose a camping ground close to the water or cool off along the Gulf Coast. Forest walks are almost magical in autumn with their rainbow of fall foliage.

Know before you go

  • There are no public transport links to Houston, so you’ll need your own transportation to get to and around Crosby.
  • Crosby has a selection of shops where you can purchase groceries, camping gear, and fishing supplies. Pick up everything you need in town before heading out to the lakes or riverside.
  • Most Texas State Parks require reservations for both day passes and campgrounds, and fishing permits are often required.
