All camping is at the main farm area and campers are able to come and go from the river site as they please. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. There is excellent bird-watching and wildlife-viewing opportunities on the property. We frequently see white-tailed deer, as well as other wildlife and many species of birds. There is road noise. Highway 29 can be busy at times, despite being a two-lane road. We also have neighbors, so we request quiet hours after 10 pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. The cows and pigs are all rescue animals so, where as they are adapted to humans being around them, they are very shy and petting them is not allowed. We are located outside of Dime Box, TX and are a 30 minute drive from the quaint, artist village of Round Top, and 12 miles from Lake Somerville SP. Our property has equal parts rolling pastures and wooded thickets and ravines. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and gorgeous views of the Texas horizons....time your stay just right and you can stand directly between the sunset and the moonrise! We also have a hike-and-bike, nature trail that offers a 360 loop around the property. We currently offer a Port-A-Potty for restroom needs and we have water access points for non-potable water suited for washing hands, dishes or camping gear.

(Request power upon booking) If you like a little more action in your campouts we do occasional music events on site. Ask about those dates when booking. We have a water hose for potable water on property and an open air private outhouse in the trees. We have a strict trash Pack in/pack out all trash and pet waste policy. Leave sites better then you found them and don't cut down anything that is growing. No burn bans if you use the rocked pits and put the fire out before you leave/sleep. If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Established 1996, The farm is situated just minutes from Magnolia-Silos, the Dr. Pepper museum, Baylor University, the Texas Ranger museum, BSR Waterpark, the Waco Mammoth National Monument (US National Park Service), and plenty of magnificent restaurants. There are no power lines over the property so I invite you to bring a kite to fly! You may even see one or two of mine in the sky. The theme of Coyote Creek Farm is tranquility. It is camping without someone crowding into your space. It is freedom from the hectic pace of the city. There is a well maintained Compost Toilet on the property as well! Each individual campsite has a portable potty bucket provided. Nearly any spot you are on has an amazingly delightful view. You can see the sun rise over the trees or the sun set behind a gently sloping hill. You will have access to all of the 30 acres. There are paths to walk, a stocked tank to fish in, (bass, catfish and blue gill), and oak and pecan trees to sit under and view the clouds as they drift overhead. The noises you hear will be cattle calling to their little ones, birds singing, and in the evenings, coyotes howling.

We are now offering daytime river access to the San Gabriel River! This is a secluded, hike to spot for fishing, swimming, grilling, picnicing, and hanging out during the day. Access to our river site is included in your camping fee, or we offer day passes for non-campers! There is no overnight camping on the San Gabriel River. All camping is at the main farm area and campers are able to come and go from the river site as they please. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. There is excellent bird-watching and wildlife-viewing opportunities on the property. We frequently see white-tailed deer, as well as other wildlife and many species of birds. There is road noise. Highway 29 can be busy at times, despite being a two-lane road. We also have neighbors, so we request quiet hours after 10 pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. Ask us about pasture-raised eggs, naturally-raised produce, and baked goods!

If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Check for local events happening all around such as Aggie Football Games, Snook ChiliFest, Market Days on the Square in Caldwell and much, much more!
