Camp Carroll 

Proposed Carroll County Recreational Opportunity
   I would like to introduce the citizens of Carroll County and all interested parties to a proposed startup tent only campground on 72 acres adjacent to Mustang Cove at the new lake. I propose to offer a rustic or primitive tent camping experience and hope to enjoin the collaboration of the Caroll County 1,000 Acre Recreational Lake to provide kayak and canoe access to the adjacent shallow and shady shoreline. I solicit input and interest from local churches, scouts, 4H,  and others and request your assistance and support. The Camp Carroll project is intended to provide a low impact environmentally and family friendly outdoor recreation experience for local residents and other interested parties; this includes but is not limited to the following: day use (CC Lake and general site), overnight tent and future small TT camping, canoe and kayak on 13 acres site ponds and CC Lake.  The Project will allow local users the opportunity to camp/kayak (or learn) locally with convenient access to home or town markets. Churches, Boy/Girl Scouts, 4H and other users will have an additional local nature - based outdoor recreational opportunity available. Local is also extremely important convenience for the handicapped or other limited access populations.

Habitat to deer, turkey, quail, beaver, otter, etc. I spent 2016 attending monthly planning and zoning commission meetings as they developed tent only campground regulations requiring 6 inches of gravel base with 2 inches of asphalt to every campsite and a restroom within 150 feet of every campsite. Needless to say, this regulation is not only cost prohibitive but in my opinion, also promulgates unsustainable erosion and habitat degradation. Plan B envisions development as a daycamp operation with picnic pavillions, bbq pits, volleyball, horseshoes, frisbee golf, etc with canoe, kayak and peddle boat access to ponds and the shallow end of the 1,000 acre lake. Plan C would be just build a multipurpose residence shareable with family and friends. Pland D involves the services of a good realtor. 40 private acres. Woods, pastures & lake. 2 spaces for RVs (with full hookups) overlook lake, Lots of grassy space for tent campers. Wildlife & bird life. From May thru Sept, there is an above-ground pool and bath house with shower, toilet and washing machine. We have some walking trails. No unregistered guests ever!  No lifeguard on duty so no minor children, please. Adults only. Swim and relax in a natural setting --enjoying privacy, seclusion and a tolerant "laid-back" vibe.

Lazy Acres Lake

We are located about 11 miles from exit 116 on interstate 40 in the beautiful farming community of Chesterfield, Tennessee where there's an abundance of wildlife including our own team of Khaki Campbell guard ducks and a piebald whitetail buck named Lucky who enjoys hanging out by the levee. Lake access  is included with each site reservation. Life jackets required at all times for those with paddle please. Canoe rentals available upon request.

 Camp sites 1-3, the boat ramp and main parking area are located at the main entrance and offer gravel roads and parking. Look for the LAL logo on the left gate post. 

Camp site #4 the hiking trailhead and our back country campsites are located at the east entrance. Look for patriotic fence post near the road. If you end up traveling a long paved road that leads to a boat ramp with lots of parking, you zigged when you should have zagged. Turn around and lazy acres is across from where that road ends.  Follow the access road along the tree line down to the water. The hiking trail is to the east across the footbridge. Look for white AT style blazes for trail markers. The blue blazes leading to each campsite. 

* All gates are open 24 hours when campers are present.

Wooded and hilly

Learn more about this land:Stay on hilltop or in the woods.  There are no “pre-made” campsites so you are on your own as far as the woods go.  However, the hilltop is an easy place to camp.
