Southport Cave

Southport Saltpetre Cave was mined during the Civil War for Saltpetre to manufacture black powder. David Crockett got his Saltpetre from this cave. The property also has hiking trails and primitive camping.Learn more about this land:We offer primitive cabins and tent camping in a forest setting. Several caves, springs, streams, bluffs, wildlife, and views make for a great camping experience. We also offer marked hiking trails. Nearby areas include Stillhouse Falls State Natural Area, The Farm, many wineries and distillers, home of James K Polk, and David Crockett SP.

Shoal Creek Natural Farm

My son had cancer which motivated us to find a perfect place to live well and grow our own food. We have a five-acre grove of various fruits. A greenhouse and gardens. Appx 100 chickens, goats, sheep, llamas, ducks and vicious geese.Seasonal fruits and vegetables available. Eggs most days. Other specialty products depending on my time and interest.Learn more about this land:We have an island on a canoe/Kayak Creek. Our working farm with goats, sheep, chickens, geese and more is separated by a fence. The appx 8 acre bluff over a diving rock into the Creek. Nature provides groundhogs, deer, birds of prey and many others. Bass and trout laugh and feel safe from me. If you hike you’ll love this. We rappel down the bluff with a simple rope. The island could support volleyball or similar activities if so inclined. 

I can’t tell you what lurks in this cave.

Horse Heaven in Culleoka, TN

(PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION AND LISTING BEFORE BOOKING)

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of Culleoka, TN come and enjoy some peace and quiet on our 93-acre horse farm. Located only 15 minutes from the historic downtown Columbia, TN and one-hour from Nashville. You can have the best of both worlds! We offer a very large tent platform (can accommodate 4-5 tents) in a very private and secluded area of the property.

Our herd of 11 friendly horses are free-roaming, and will likely come and visit you at your campsite. This is the only campsite on the property and you will have complete privacy. Book a trail ride to enjoy the scenery from the saddle (please check on availability and pricing for rides.) Come and help with the morning feeding routine at the barn! 

There's great cell service at the campsite. Firewood is $15/bundle (for wood stove and/or campfire) or you can forage your own!

The barn has an outdoor propane hot water shower. The shower may not be available during the extreme cold. There is a pit toilet at the campsite but bring your own TP.

There is a large charcoal grill/smoker at the site. Please clean grill after use.

If you are bringing your fur babies please make sure to add on the pet fee when booking.

The road to the campsite goes through a very small creek and up a little hill. Very low vehicles may bottom out. In the rainy months you need 4-wheel drive to get out to the site.

We live on the property and will be available to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. We ask campers to please check in before 7pm and be courteous about communicating your ETA, as we will be planning our day around your arrival time. We are available via messaging up until 8pm.

Hoot Owl Hollow Campground

Nestled in the middle of
 1800 acres of forest and fields
in a shared land trust, Hoot Owl Campground is your easiest way  to visit The Farm Community. Founded in 1971 and based on the principles of non-violence and stewardship of the land, The Farm is now home to around 200 people and 20 businesses. Hoot Owl Hollow (FKA Ecovillage Training Center) has been providing hospitality,
rooms and camping
for up to 30 people at a time
since 1994.

Beautiful view of our valley and forest with a covered tent platform off the ground.  Site is just off the beaten path to provide convenient privacy.  Our guests receive access to the communal kitchen, bathrooms and showers along with a huge hall to gather and socialize with other guests. Short hikes in multiple directions lead to wonderful flowing creeks, waterfalls and a 7' deep swimming hole.

A nice tin roof keeps the downpour off of your gear. The Old School Bus in the background is also part of our site, and might be occupied by campers as well!

Our common area includes a grill/fire pit surrounded by oak logs. campers may also tour our permaculture gardens and visit our gift shop.
