We have owned this land for over ten years. It is a beautiful place between mountains and the beach.

We plan on making this a beautiful getaway from it all where you can embrace the beauty of Playa Mar Chiquita and surrounding  areas.

Barefoot Travelers Rooms Guesthouse

We came down here from New England in 1997 because we were invited by some locals to teach hanggliding here.  At that time as certified HG instructors we thought ok lets try..came down here with our backpacks, a few hang gliders, and figured we would see how it worked out. Renting places to stay for a few years and including rooms for visiting students we had this opportunity to get and fix up this old house. It was a continuation of my dream to have a back pack travelers , adventure travelers, artists, LBGTQ friendly, off the beaten path type of place to stay.

And so in 2004 Barefoot Travelers Rooms and Adventures Guesthouse was born.

She even had a little cooler for me to use, which became my best friend and new life essential. 😹

Finca Remedio Permaculture Farm

Finca Remedio is a 40 acre Eco Farm and community space in the mountains of Utuado. Come bask in a pristine tropical forest, breathing pure air, bathing in spring water, listening to the evening orchestra of wildlife and gentle waterfalls. Our farm is an off-grid outdoor living experience and the perfect environment for relaxation, connection, and healing. Base camp includes the 10’x16’ platform and shade canopy. Everything else you see here is available for rent. Plus much more. See other photos and amenities for more information. 

Courage Creek Camp and Trails

Within the mountains of Utuado, Puerto Rico tucked into the valley you will find us. Awakened by the sunrise over the mountain tops, near and far. The creek and trails will be ready after you enjoy your morning 🇵🇷 coffee and fresh bread.  Puerto Rican Lunch and Evening Campfire  available. 420med👍

The misty mornings are breathtaking, and yet the cleanest fresh air you can enjoy. Great for exercising and relaxing. 

WhatNot Famous Sunrise. This could be the view you wake up to. Enjoy a cup of Cafe while watching the golden sun rise over the mountains. 

Are you brave enough to camp in the Jungle?  But rather not have to hike into the jungle to make it happen. All the privacy and beauty of an off grid camp site less than 10 minutes from town.  Central to so many fun activities. You’ll love your stay at Courage Creek Campground. 

Tanya and Robert are very familiar with the island and can help you add to your itinerary. Make sure to put 2-4 nights stay with us in the books. Central to so many great adventures, Utuado is a great launching pad for excitement.  Courage Creek Campground provides its own adventures and great options to rest after a day full of adventures.

Enjoy all the wild acres around us. From the creek to the highest peak. It’s all yours to explore. 

Kayaks available for rent.  Lago Dos Bocas is 20 minutes away. 

In town about 10 minutes from our house. 

Playa Obispo in Arecibo is about 25 minutes away from camp. Easy, beautiful drive too.  Great place for families with kids. Cove makes for a nice safe space for kids to play in the water.  With so much beach you’re bound to find some privacy too. Regular beach good for jumping in waves. 

If you’re looking to do something really special, we know people that set that up. We would be happy to help coordinate that for you.
