Just renovated for winter camping! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a4 seat table as well as some could makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group!
Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods.
Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away.
Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter.
The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away.
It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs.
We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables..
There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents.
There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin,
but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures.
The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk!
If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions.
Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization.
Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana.
They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center.
Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization.
Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana.
They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center.
Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

French Creek Farms is a 50+ acre farm nestled along the banks of French Creek in Venango County Pennsylvania. We have creekside sites as well as some field side sites with water access. You can kayak and canoe on French Creek or just bring some floats if you don't want to paddle.

Hominy Ridge Cabins and Gift Shop is located in Cook Forest State Park, PA, USA. Situated on 7 private acres, we offer 6 cabins (3 smaller ones with hot tubs) that offer most amenities. However, we do not supply bath towels and toiletries. We also permit dogs, for a $15 per day per dog fee, in most cabins with the exceptions to Cabins 1 & 3. Cabins 1, 3, 6, all have private hot tubs on the porches. We do provide all bedding, pots, pans and dishes and silverware. Complete kitchens with all major appliances. The loft in the trees was the perfect place to stay on a winter night but still be surrounded by nature. The outdoor mood lighting on the property perfectly highlighted the slow falling snow that welcomed my one night stay here. In the morning the land was peaceful with birds chirping and the creek bubbling slowly on my morning walk. The bathroom was Amazing!! Way better than anything I could have anticipated. This is a really well done Hipcamp and I would definitely stay here again. I appreciate Liam & Jolene for being so welcoming and for sharing such a wonderful space. My kitten loved being in the nature and away from cars and other people, thanks for having us!!

Weekend Trip to The River Otter Den - Riverfront!
Amazing. From the view of the fall leaves and the Allegheny, to how nice the cabin was, to having a chimnied fire pit. Everything was perfect,. We usually do primitive sites, but I figured we could go glamping for once, and it was beyond anything I could expect. Meghan was super accommodating and a really nice host as well. 11/10 we'll definitely be back!

Fantastic property! We rented the tree cabin but the tent sites also looked great. All the amenities you could ask for while still being rustic and private. We visited for our annual fall leaf peeping trip, but we fully intend to come back in the summer--we are excited to take advantage of the cute little pond for swimming and kayaking.

Donnie's property is truly an unexpected little slice of heaven. From the property and amenities, to the welcomed animal interruptions during our detailed tour at the courtesy of Donnie...this place is truly something special.
Although during our stay we were doing what some would classify as "glamping"; the amount of amenities and relaxing feeling they create makes it feel more like a country resort.
We will definitely be back!

I booked the tree cabin to surprise my boyfriend with a one-night-getaway for his birthday, and we absolutely loved our time here. Liam did an incredible job with communicating important info via Hipcamp messaging, and he created a beautiful, serene atmosphere at Muddy Myst that made our stay wonderful. Everything was clean, private, and beautiful. We really appreciated the bathroom & common area amenities. We had an amazing stay and absolutely will come back and recommend to a friend. Muddy Myst is the perfect relaxing getaway!
The treehouse was cozy and inviting. Even with all the rain at night, we slept peacefully with the windows open. The magnetic screen door was a nice addition to keep the critters out. There are clearly marked trails around the campsites and “Hank’s Hangout” is well stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, filtered hot/cold water and a nicely kept bathroom with a shower next door. Our dog loved the beds outside and inside the treehouse.
Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality, we cannot wait to make a trip back!
