Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods.
Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away.
Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter.
The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away.
It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs.
We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables..
There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents.
There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin,
but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures.
The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk!

While this is a working ranch with farm animals, our aim is to create a peaceful relaxing environment in order to unwind and enjoy the creation around us. Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including a sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ducks and barn cats on the premises. There are several ATV trails that have easy access because you can legally ride on the township roads! It's 10 miles to downtown Kittanning, where festivals and concerts in the park are held, plus more restaurants, stores, and rails to trails for bike riders. There are fishing ponds and large glacial rock formations nearby. Tours to the places mentioned can be scheduled for a fee if we're available. We will have a small map of the area with places marked. You're welcome to cut and use fallen trees. Please don't bring firewood from other counties due to spread of diseases and destructive insects. B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

Eighteen Acres is conveniently postured near I-79 (3 minutes) / I-80 (5 minutes), The Grove City Outlets (4 minutes), Big Rail Brewing (30 seconds), and Keystone Safari (10 seconds). We sit at the midpoint between Grove City College (8 minutes) and Slippery Rock University (9 minutes). Today, you'll see the property offers a single site (with 50/30amp electric hookup and water) for those looking to escape the city and find reprieve in the country. Lord willin', more RV and camp sites will be on the way! We intend to be available May 1st to October 31st (weather pending). Pricing is about $40+ less (nightly) than the KOA! Plus you get a huge space.
There is no bath house, sewer/dump station (for black/gray water), or showers at this time, but you'll see we are working towards those things.
With good planning and if you prefer, we can be there to help you set up. The site will be clearly marked, and there is more than enough room to back in/out. We can host the largest of rigs (even up to 45 feet). As you can imagine, it takes a lot of mowing to manage grounds of this size. There is a red storage building (for our mower) about 10 yards from the site that we reserve the right to access. We want the place in top shape for you, and we will not mow or weed-wack near your site during your stay.
We do have three well behaved pups, and we are about 60 yards away from this site in our cabin. Sorry to say, we are not yet comfortable with guests bringing pets, but this may change soon. Must love dogs, because we do take ours throughout the property for exercise.
Though you will see sewer clean outs, our system is not equipped or available for RV septic use as this time. Tampering with or attempting to use the clean outs will likely lead to a discontinuation of your stay. Please forgive us, we are working on a plan for this in the future.

Guests who stay in one of our permaculture cabins are participating in a permaculture design process where the goal is to create a system of abundance. During your stay, you will be challenged to think differently about how you go about meeting your daily needs. By design, you will encounter limits to the typical expectations of your living space, which grants you the opportunity to think deeply about what really is important to you and join us in exploring effective possibilities in meeting these expectations. After all, necessity is the mother of invention.
This is our first study of building a sustainable living environment. We started with a blank slate, a new system designed with the permaculture principles in mind and the intention of ultimately creating a living space with the creature comforts we have all grown accustomed to. Eventually we will be building the next round of accommodations (principal: Small & Slow Solutions). When staying in one of our cabins, you are participating in this process by sharing with us your experience (principal: Observe & Interact), letting us know what you have discovered you can and can not live without, and possible solutions to efficiently address those needs and wants (principal: Apply Self Regulation & Accept Feedback).

1. Food: Our campground offers a serene escape, to help you get to your "escape with less stress we offer a cooler of food upon your request! Our Chef will do the shopping and have it ready for you! 2.Dogs A- Permitted on Leash: We understand that many campers enjoy bringing their furry babies along for the adventure. Dogs are welcome at our campground, but they must be on a leash or a run. The fields have some groundhog holes, and we would be devastated if your dog was running and broke a leg if a leg slipped in a hole. We just want them safe.
B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

Just bring your Class B or Class C Motorhome for this water and electric (no sewer) supported site. Eighteen Acres is conveniently postured near I-79 (3 minutes) / I-80 (5 minutes), The Grove City Outlets (4 minutes), Big Rail Brewing (30 seconds), and Keystone Safari (10 seconds). We sit at the midpoint between Grove City College (8 minutes) and Slippery Rock University (9 minutes). Today, you'll see the property offers a single site (with 50/30amp electric hookup and water) for those looking to escape the city and find reprieve in the country. Lord willin', more RV and camp sites will be on the way! We intend to be available May 1st to October 31st (weather pending). Pricing is about $40+ less (nightly) than the KOA! Plus you get a huge space.
There is no bath house, sewer/dump station (for black/gray water), or showers at this time, but you'll see we are working towards those things.
With good planning and if you prefer, we can be there to help you set up. The site will be clearly marked, and there is more than enough room to back in/out. We can host the largest of rigs (even up to 45 feet). As you can imagine, it takes a lot of mowing to manage grounds of this size. There is a red storage building (for our mower) about 10 yards from the site that we reserve the right to access. We want the place in top shape for you, and we will not mow or weed-wack near your site during your stay.
We do have three well behaved pups, and we are about 60 yards away from this site in our cabin. Sorry to say, we are not yet comfortable with guests bringing pets, but this may change soon. Must love dogs, because we do take ours throughout the property for exercise.
Though you will see sewer clean outs, our system is not equipped or available for RV septic use as this time. Tampering with or attempting to use the clean outs will likely lead to a discontinuation of your stay. Please forgive us, we are working on a plan for this in the future.

Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch
Absolutely loved this place. My husband and I stayed the weekend to explore the area for our final trip for the year. The cabin was so cozy,we did have our air mattress with us just incase I was unable to sleep on the futon but was surprisingly comfortable. We were exploring most of the time but getting to see and pet the horses was amazing. Thank you for opening your home to us.

We loved staying at the cabin. It was well furnished and had an amazing view. We had a great time interacting with the farm animals, specially the horses and the cats. Had a wonderful experience at Laurel Highlands! Maggie is a super friendly and attentive host, and the space was perfect for our needs. It’s not as tucked away as some other campsites we’ve been to, but that did not dampen the experience at all. It’s a bit elevated from the surrounding area and it was really cool to see the fog roll into the lower elevations at night. Some of the space is on a slight incline but it did not affect our ability to find a good spot for our tents or placement of our cots. I will definitely be planning to return again!

Our stay was perfect, the site is beautiful and well kept and the host was very welcoming and kind to our two boys. She showed us all their animals and told us their backstories and even let our oldest help feed the chickens. She provided snacks for the horses which we were able to feed whenever we wanted. They come right up to the tent site and the cabin. We felt very safe and it was easy to find when driving in. Each animal we interacted with was good, the turkey will climb on your shoulder and the cats will sit on you by the fire. We are very happy and plan to come back again!
If you want a more private stay I would recommend booking both the tent site and the cabin if possible. The out house and fire pit are communal so if you don’t you’ll end up getting cozy with some strangers.

Although during our stay we were doing what some would classify as "glamping"; the amount of amenities and relaxing feeling they create makes it feel more like a country resort.

We parked our short bus at the hill top and had the most RESTFUL stay with Bill and Nancy. No one else had booked the weekdays we stayed and it was such a treat to enjoy the sounds of turkeys, birds, and gentle rain all to ourselves.
Having the flushable toilet on site was wonderful (rare to find). The hilltop felt private as could be. We enjoyed fires for 2 nights with the bundle provided, and there was still a bit left. Pokeberries abundant for painters!
Bill and Nancy are kind, considerate, and have a lovely kept home and property. We were beside ourself with the peace we felt during our stay and will definitely try to stop back on our way home.
There's a rifle range in the distance but for a person who struggles with PTSD, the sounds were few and far between, and distant. For as many stays as I've come across this, it was entirely manageable 🩷 appreciation to bill for the heads up when we arrived/met.

Thus is my favorite hipcamp mainly because of no leash on you dog. Back story we got a dog we love the dog we bought a camper so we can take her when we travel. We live near Pittsburgh and there are 3 hipcamps that have no leash Bill and Nancy's, one near Harrisburg one somewhere in middle Ohio.
