From Northwest Portland with wonderful and trendy restaurants and eateries like Salt and Straw to Voodoo Donuts, the waterfront, and Washington Park. From the balcony, you may see golden and bald eagles, huge owls, woodpeckers, garden snakes, coyotes, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, and squirrels. Here, it is a place of peace, of quietude. No parties or loud music etc. Currently I'm offering one occomdation, The Old Barn, as my other spots are being rented out by long term renters. Please do not explore the property. GeerCrest Farm occupies Kalapuya land, settled by the Geer family in 1847, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. GeerCrest Farm and Historical Society manages the front portion of the land and has provided farm-life experiences for all ages since 2007, along with day and overnight experiences for individuals and families. Along with its history, the valley view, small creek and pond, farm animal, and diverse wildlife at GeerCrest is a truly unique experience. On the 20 acre property, we offer two tent camp sites, a tree house, as well as two woodland lodgings. Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional chatter of chickens and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Please say hello to our flock of chickens, barn cats (they may say hello first) and small but mighty herd of sheep. Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties cerca 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, ponder the historic 1854 black cottonwood tree and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season. GeerCrest Farm is truly an off-the-beaten-path gem.

Come stay up in old growth trees with a custom tree house, with rustic outside shower and bathroom. There is a queen bed and a futon. Sleeps 3. Bring your fishing boat as well to enjoy both rivers for fishing. Stay under the stars and feel like you're far away from the city although close to town and local breweries and places to eat. You may encounter the properties horse to say hello while you visit and get some fresh eggs and garden veggies in summer.

In Portland, Oregon, it’s all about the outdoors. When you want to go beyond the city’s incredible urban hiking and biking, camping is a great option. You’re in luck—Portland is surrounded by Pacific Northwest wilderness. In less than an hour’s drive, you can be setting up your tent and reveling in the silence.

Your first stop is the awe-inspiring Columbia River Gorge, just 35 miles from downtown Portland. Stand in the mist of Multnomah Falls on Benson Bridge. Then, head to nearby Ainsworth State Park and Beacon Rock State Park in Washington to set up camp. From there, Oregon’s most beautiful hiking trails wind past waterfalls and over basalt monoliths.

A little farther afield, the Mt. Hood National Forest welcomes you with 71 campgrounds. Choose from primitive tent sites or RV parks with full hookups. Each site is just minutes from mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and fishing opportunities.

During the summer, the Tillamook State Forest is an excellent place to get away from it all. Six campgrounds including Elk Creek and Reehers Camp, offer walk-in tent sites and horse camping spots. You’ll also find plenty of free designated campsites, as well as OHV-friendly areas.

Thanks to the PNW’s moderate climate, you can camp near Portland any time of the year. With quality rain gear, you can get out into the wilderness even in the deep of winter. Heading to higher elevations? Break out your snow gear or book a cabin or yurt.
