Welcome to the Bamboo Forest at Parker Learning Gardens! We are a nonprofit educational 33-acre farm located 10 miles north of Eugene, Oregon, right between the small towns of Coburg and Harrisburg. Our campsites are located at our 3+ acre Bamboo Forest, with covered platforms located alongside and underneath the canopy of our whimsical corridor of huge Linden Trees. The campsites have access to a wood-fired earthen cob oven, an outdoor kitchen sink, and a covered eating/cooking space. There are over 40 varieties of bamboo in our densely-packed 35-year-old Bamboo Forest. You are welcome to explore this unique forest by navigating through our meandering trail system. Elsewhere on the farm we have over 500 fruit trees, many farm animals, and 12 demonstration gardens. We offer seasonal educational programming from Spring-Fall, with various community classes, workshops and field trips for schools. The mission of Parker Learning Gardens involves immersing people of all ages in nature while demonstrating how to: grow food organically, tend to the land from an ecological perspective, incorporate animals in a regenerative way, and be conscious environmental stewards. If you are interested, there may be an option for a private educational tour for an additional fee (dependent on timing and availability). Otherwise, your stay will be private with open access to the trail system of our Bamboo Forest and huge Linden Tree Grove (approximately 5 acres of of beautiful wondering space to explore and unwind). We are about 5 miles from the I-5 exit in Coburg. The farm is located in the old floodplain of the Willamette River, with close access to places to swim just a short car drive away. There are amazing hikes within 30 minutes, and many family and youth activities/opportunities nearby (check the Eugene weekly event calendar).

This is a low traffic area. There is virtually no street traffic before 9 AM and none after 4 PM Mon-Sat and there is no traffic at all on Sundays. Site 2 aka Freedom Camp is reserved exclusively for tent Both camp sites can use the contracted portable toilet located on the property. We keep it clean and odor free for a safe and sanitary camping experience. Hand sanitizer is also provided. Bring your bikes, boards and/or other outdoor gear! Many adventures can be had here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers and cyclists and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. Our property is close to town as well as road bike loops, gravel roads and mountain bike trails. We're also close to the beach and that's how we like it. Within 15 - 45 minutes drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday of summer and fall. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street from the property and the town of Waldport is only 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 minute drive to the south where you can find amazing plant based food and they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of other drinks and treats at The Green Salmon Cafe. Miles of white sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Forested and easily accessible walking trails are also nearby. South of the property is Cape Perpetua which is a 2,700 acre nature wonderland with whales, tide pools and blowholes. It is located in the Siuslaw National Forest and includes a 26 mile trail system. Relax and enjoy the scenic 15 mile drive from the farm to get there. The Waldport city skatepark and the Red River disc golf course are just 1.2 miles from the property. There is a brand new skatepark in Yachats just 7 miles away. Restaurants, cafes, a bakery and bars as well as shopping, banking and even an open air market (on Wednesdays) can be found in downtown Waldport which is a short 2 miles from your campsite. The north side contains a field, small orchard, greenhouses and barn. The south side is steep and wooded with healthy riparian. An extension to the Honey Grove trail leads out of the property accessing seven miles of hiking and mountain bike trails. Nearby activities include hiking and mountain biking in Mary's Peak and Alsea Falls recreational area. Fishing access to the Alsea River is located 1.5 miles from the property on Honey Grove Road. From the designated parking area there is a 200 foot walk along a gravel path to the cabin. Other features include a fire pit, electric sauna, and creek access. Internet is available in the cabin. There is a Level 2 vehicle charger available for guests. The property also contains a host residence. The area around the residence is for the hosts. The cabin and the property are very quaint and inviting but also very rustic. Do not be surprised to see a few spiders and other bugs, the occasional bunny, wild turkeys, Garter Snakes by the ponds and newts on the trails. Please maintain good situational awareness when enjoying the property as structures and grounds may have some inherent hazards. Barn is off limits. Greenhouse and gardens are fine to explore as long as doors and gates are closed and dogs are kept out. A short 1/4 mile drive gets you to beach access and enjoying walking on some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. Convenient access to Hwy 101 makes this a great spot to explore from. So many great activities year round on the Oregon coast, including hiking, mushroom hunting, whale watching, Off roading, and amazing restaurants and shops.

Coastal Farm Sanctuary

Since 2015 we have been steadily regenerating the soils and improving this once completely barren property. We now have diverse plant life on the property which in turns attracts diverse wildlife including insects, birds and reptile. Your stay here helps us to pay the bills and keep making this small patch of earth better. Our property sits on a sunny bench just back from the ocean and just above the fog line. Our south facing location gets ample sunshine most days and is surrounded on 3 sides by a forest of trees. The property is fenced and access is by gate. There are two seperate campsites which are separated by our central garden and bamboo plantings. On most days the maximum number of workers on the farm is two people (your hosts). This is a low traffic area. There is virtually no street traffic before 9 AM and none after 4 PM Mon-Sat and there is no traffic at all on Sundays. Site 2 aka Freedom Camp is reserved exclusively for tent Both camp sites can use the contracted portable toilet located on the property. We keep it clean and odor free for a safe and sanitary camping experience. Hand sanitizer is also provided. Bring your bikes, boards and/or other outdoor gear! Many adventures can be had here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers and cyclists and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. Our property is close to town as well as road bike loops, gravel roads and mountain bike trails. We're also close to the beach and that's how we like it. Within 15 - 45 minutes drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday of summer and fall. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street from the property and the town of Waldport is only 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 minute drive to the south where you can find amazing plant based food and they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of other drinks and treats at The Green Salmon Cafe. Miles of white sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Forested and easily accessible walking trails are also nearby. South of the property is Cape Perpetua which is a 2,700 acre nature wonderland with whales, tide pools and blowholes. It is located in the Siuslaw National Forest and includes a 26 mile trail system. Relax and enjoy the scenic 15 mile drive from the farm to get there. The Waldport city skatepark and the Red River disc golf course are just 1.2 miles from the property. There is a brand new skatepark in Yachats just 7 miles away. Restaurants, cafes, a bakery and bars as well as shopping, banking and even an open air market (on Wednesdays) can be found in downtown Waldport which is a short 2 miles from your campsite. We have some items such as bikes, surfboards, skateboards and more options available for rental (options will be shown when you book your site). Surf lessons for beginner and intermediate level are available. Guided surf sessions for intermediate and advanced level are available. Bring your Electric Vehicle! Come and enjoy an 8 acre tree farm located near Lebanon, Oregon. We purchased this property in 2019. This is a tree farm with 800+ planted Christmas trees. We put in campsites, a cabin, a barn loft, and a fire pit. We offer these to guests when not being used by our family and friends. Wildlife includes deer, turkey, and quail & 3 active beehives. Guests are welcome to fresh eggs from the chicken coop. We are fully fenced and gated for your family and pets protection. South Santiam River is less than 1 mile for fishing, kayaking, or rafting. Foster reservoir is 30 minutes away and Green Peter Reservoir is 45 minutes away for boating, swimming, and fishing. There is a loop exercise trail that circles the property and offers 30-degree climbs. You can also play games inside or basketball outside.We thought it would be great to have family gatherings and get togethers here and think of this as our slice of heaven, and hope others enjoy it as well.

Bamboo Forest Campsite

Welcome to the Bamboo Forest at Parker Learning Gardens! We are a nonprofit educational 33-acre farm located 10 miles north of Eugene, Oregon, right between the small towns of Coburg and Harrisburg. Our campsites are located at our 3+ acre Bamboo Forest, with covered platforms located alongside and underneath the canopy of our whimsical corridor of huge Linden Trees. The campsites have access to a wood-fired earthen cob oven, an outdoor kitchen sink, and a covered eating/cooking space. There are over 40 varieties of bamboo in our densely-packed 35-year-old Bamboo Forest. You are welcome to explore this unique forest by navigating through our meandering trail system. Elsewhere on the farm we have over 500 fruit trees, many farm animals, and 12 demonstration gardens. We offer seasonal educational programming from Spring-Fall, with various community classes, workshops and field trips for schools. The mission of Parker Learning Gardens involves immersing people of all ages in nature while demonstrating how to: grow food organically, tend to the land from an ecological perspective, incorporate animals in a regenerative way, and be conscious environmental stewards. If you are interested, there may be an option for a private educational tour for an additional fee (dependent on timing and availability). Otherwise, your stay will be private with open access to the trail system of our Bamboo Forest and huge Linden Tree Grove (approximately 5 acres of of beautiful wondering space to explore and unwind). We are about 5 miles from the I-5 exit in Coburg. The farm is located in the old floodplain of the Willamette River, with close access to places to swim just a short car drive away. There are amazing hikes within 30 minutes, and many family and youth activities/opportunities nearby (check the Eugene weekly event calendar).

Camping near Monroe guide

Overview

Situated on the Long Tom River along Highway 99W, Monroe is a small city offering basic amenities for locals and people passing through. Here you’ll find a couple of small markets plus a farm store filled with fresh vegetables. Monroe is also a good base for exploring nearby natural areas, including the nearby Alsea Falls Recreation Site and the Salmonberry County Park & Campground. The William L Finley National Wildlife Refuge, just north of town, is also worth a visit and provides a haven for a wide variety of birds and animals.

Oregon's Central Coast

Due west of Monroe, the Central Coast region features a mix of cities and forest areas, with plenty of camping opportunities both in state parks and on private land. It’s also a great spot for whale-watching, particularly in early winter and spring.

Willamette Valley Wine Country

Oregon’s Willamette Valley is internationally known for its excellent pinots. There are tons of excellent wineries offering tours and tastings within a short drive of Monroe.

The Siuslaw National Forest

This 630,000-acre forest offers a mix of dense old-growth forest and coastal expanses. It's ideal for camping and hiking, with miles and miles of well-maintained trails plus a range of inland and Oceanside campgrounds.

When to go

Like much of Western Oregon, Monroe is best visited in the summertime, when temperatures soar and the chance of rain decreases dramatically. The busy season runs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and July and August are particularly busy with campers, especially on the weekends. Come in September after kids are back in school if you want good weather without the crowds.
