Check out covered bridges and enjoy year-round RVing in the southern Willamette Valley.
A short drive from Eugene in the southernmost reaches of the Willamette Valley, Cottage Grove and the surrounding area makes a good base for exploring Oregon by RV. The area is best known for its six historic covered bridges, some of which are open to bicycle and pedestrian traffic, as well as its easy access to lakes, reservoirs, and rivers, including the Coast Fork of the Willamette, which flows right through town. While Cottage Grove can get rainy, its low elevation keeps snow at bay, and many area campgrounds and RV parks are open year-round, some with electric hookups, dump stations, restrooms, and laundry facilities. It’s a good idea for campers to check for closures due to fires or snow if planning to bring an RV, campervan, or big rig to the nearby Willamette National Forest.
