My dogs and I absolutely loved this campsite. They never get to be off leash, as we live full time in our RV. They loved it! The site was secluded and clean and Nikki left a list of things to do in the area, which was very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

This spot was very private, and the solar power worked great for my class C—ran the furnace a little bit, microwave, charged my laptop and phone. Quiet and peaceful!

Weekend Trip to Picknik Place

Ideal location. Close to town, but feels like you’re ’out there’. Also a good distance from the permanent residents. I liked it! Had some issues with the solar power system but they did their best to try in a timely manner. Not a big deal for me. The driveway entrance is very easy to miss, especially in the dark! Even when you know about where it is. Some reflectors or lighting would be swell. ;)

We booked for 1 night and enjoyed it so much we booked an additional night. Lots of space for our toddler and dog to roam. Nikki was very responsive, don’t hesitate staying here. It’s a easy trip into Bend and all it has to offer is

Right off the highway, easy access, and accurate instructions. I'd recommend this to anyone passing through or staying around for a few days. We just needed a safe place to set up the trailer with the kids for one night as we passed through Bend, and this was perfect! The property is kind of dusty, which is normal for the area and not a bad thing, but it did make manouvering the trailer with our van a bit tricky. There is a gravel pad where we stayed on site 2 that was very nice and level for the trailer. The solar panels were a nice touch, but we didn't need to use them for our brief stay. The area is very quiet and private, and the kids loved to play on the swing and on the nearby rocks.

I loved staying in the A frame cabins. The beds were very comfortable. The accommodations were great. I look forward to staying here again!

Toms place had all I needed, great view, great people. They were very accomodating, and I would go back there in a second. Heard that it fills up with birdwatchers in season, so I was lucky to have almost no one around when I was there early April.

We had an incredible time camping at Tin Willows farm. Terry is very welcoming and kind and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels comfortable while staying at her farm. This is great little pull through site to stay the night on your way threw the area. Easy to get to right off the freeway but far enough you don't hear the traffic. The goats were sweet but the star of the night was just that. The STARS, wow. Awesome night sky. Be sure to grab a burger and some donuts at the C&D in Boardman on your way in or out.

Great spot to park at after a long day of driving. The sunset was beautiful and it was a quiet night. I would definitely stop here again on my way home from my road trip.

Location perfect for daily forays to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Thousands of visiting Snow Geese rested in the fields across the highway. Bathroom was very clean, looked new. Camp spot was level, and since it was high up above the main roadway, there was little noise.

Learn more about this land: Pull up and let the vacation begin. The Lake Billy Chinook area has everything for the perfect camp trip. There is bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, swimming, kayaking, lounging and enjoying nature. When you arrive just park in your site. We have 30-amp service but no RV septic hookup. The site is gravel so you may need to level your rig. We have a fantastic outdoor area complete with couch, loungers, BBQ and fire pit. The high desert offers some of the most amazing views of the Cascade Mountains with clear blue skies and some of the best star gazing around. Casa del Lago is a dark sky site. There is a fantastic view of Mount Jefferson from the couch and the sunsets are absolutely beautiful. During the Summer we usually enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool comfortable nights. You can hang out down at the lake and find a spot on the beach to have a picnic. You can also bring your boat or rent one at the Cove Palisades Marina and enjoy water sports. Hosts live in house on property. We are located 4 miles from the lake and are nestled in a rural country neighborhood.

You will stay on the grounds of the beautiful Historic Crane Ranch, originally established in 1869. There are 325 acres to explore, including wetlands, willow forests, hay fields, creek and peat bogs. Wildlife such as deer, bear, beaver, porcupine, skunk, raccoon, fox, coyote, cougar and squirrels have all been seen on the property. And a rattlesnake was seen 18 years ago. And there are many feathered friends; it’s a bird watchers paradise. There will be a variety of primitive camp sites in addition to the existing two sites close to the headquarters that have 20 amp power via extension cord. Fresh clean water is available from several faucets around the headquarters. Most campsites are sized to allow for group camping which makes this a perfect stop for adventure bikers touring the Oregon Outback or Burners to and from Black Rock City. There is a rustic but clean open air bathroom with flush toilet and a hot shower that is available to all guests in addition to a blue portapotty. Also a community gazebo that encloses a room with netting to keep mosquitos at bay. No outside fires are permitted at the campsites, however there is a community fire ring for a warming fire, pending local fire restrictions. Located just 6 miles south of Lakeview, Oregon, our slice of paradise is only 145 miles (2.5 hours) from Black Rock City and 8 miles from the California border. This is an active ranch environment so at times there could be haying operations going on during the summer. The ranch borders rural Highway 395 and even though it’s usually pretty quiet and the camping is away from the highway, you can still hear it at times. The wetland environment supports so many species, but it also supports mosquitos during the spring and early summer. Be prepared for mosquitos at all sites especially when camping in the willow forest during spring and early summer. Dogs are welcome at all sites and are encouraged to be on leash around the headquarters. However, there is ample space for your pets to run off leash. Not responsible for any interactions between dogs and the wildlife such a skunks, porcupines, coyotes or other animals,

Back Side of Painted Hills Camping

This 320 acre plot of land on which you can hike anywhere has been in our family since 1993. Large, graveled spot for tents or two vehicles with excellent view for miles and miles and night star gazing. Primitive outhouse. Juniper forest with sage brush... basically high desert vegetation. We only allow one reservation per night, although there is lodging (reserved) at the log home almost out of sight up above you. You can arrange vehicles or tents to not be in view or block any view from house way above. 320 acres to hike and roam. Mitchell is 10 miles away with well stocked grocery and feed store, restaurants, small brewery, and tire shop. We give directions fairly quickly. Road is wide, but steep at top. 4 wheel drive is recommended. Very close to the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National monument, Ochoco National Forest is seven miles. John Day River for swimming, rafting about 20 minutes. If you can book, it means you can drive on up with out contacting us. As you drive in if at night, you will see a light on the outhouse.

Our house is located in Wood River Village. It is the beginning of where the Deschutes River bends as it comes into the town of Bend. One can quickly and easily walk to the river trail from our house. By going up river, one gets the sense of being remote and in the forest along a well maintained trail that makes a 3 miles loop with many rapids visible from the trail. By walking down river, one can quickly access Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Old Mill shopping and Downtown on a paved walking path. This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet miles from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. Use the west entrance so you can easily enter, then leave on gravel drive. This is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

There’s kittens, dairy sheep, gigantic but friendly herd dogs, and a variety of chickens and ducks. The host was kind and friendly. Try the sheep’s milk cheese - what a treat!"
