Enchanted Summer House

Welcome to Once Upon A Farm's Enchanted Summer House! Our rustic Americana tiny house is nestled between Columbus and Zanesville, right next to Buckeye Lake. Our small horse farm and barn are also on Airbnb under our Enchanted Carriage House listing. We are close to several wineries, breweries and recreational areas (kayaking, canoeing, golfing, biking) as well as Legend Valley which is about 10 mins away.  Currently our tiny house sleeps one comfortably with the option of the loft or the sofa bed for sleeping arrangements.

Two Blocks Away Farm

We are a working farm located in central Ohio. The main house and barn were built in the 1890s. We moved to this lovely homestead two years ago and began our journey to sustainability. Our animals are all pastured, heritage-bred animals, from the pigs to our chickens! We love exploring our wooded 3.5 acres and discovering more and more with each trip just outside our back door!Learn more about this land:Pitch a tent along the wooded trails while nature surrounds you. Located on 6.5 acres of woods, meadows and pastures, the place allows you to do bird watching, exploring nature or simply observing the goings on at the farm. We are a working family farm raising chickens, pigs and goats all on pasture! Children giggle while playing with the dogs or jumping on the trampoline. Don't hesitate to explore the growing food forest, gardens or pastures.

The campsite Kali's kids picked out for us was perfect, tucked back into the woods right by a stream. Loved it.

Right when I brought my camera up to my face they got up and came towards the fence. I think they like the camera :)

Kickapoo Kamping

This location in Ohio is about a 10-minute walk to Dillon Dam, Reservoir and Lake! The road that was there was called Yelp Town Hollow Road. The road that this camp was on had to be raised when they put the dam in, they even had to move the one room school house! Black Hand Gorge preserve isn't far from the camp, lots of hiking and bicycle trails. Dillon State Park is 10-15 miles away with trails for horses, walking and biking. About 3,000 acres of State and Federal Land is right in our backyard!  Learn more about this land:Set your tent up in a wooded area or near a stream. Great star gazing and forest bathing. The area is in the Yelptown Hollow Valley, the road and one room school house Yelptown School are reminiscent of a bygone era. The old road bed is near camping and old school house has relocated to a site nearby. Come enjoy the laid back ambience of the area! Peaceful, solitude, nearby stream.

The pond is quite large and had a canoe, two kayaks and a paddleboard for us to use

The Lake at the Flying J Farm

The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows, horses and chickens. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables.

The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner.

Burke's Bend

Burke's Bend sits on a dead end road in Perry County, Ohio--where you can find a abundance of wildlife, a spring-fed Cory, rippling stream with a bathtub and trees all around.  Plenty of hiking, hunting, motocross or ATV  depending on season and bookings. There  is a log captain that is occupied by special guest and the owner. It is our dream to make a Bed & Breakfast someday. The area has a rich history and was previously occupied by a church. The Bethany Cemetery  is still visited by history buffs. It dates back to the 1800's and is nicely maintained . It adds to the adventure in the fall. I believe the land  was mined for coal at some point due to access when purchased. My mother's family were a part of the heritage  in this area. One of the reason's for the purchase. We built our retirement home here in the hopes of passing it along to our family. But now we would like to share the beauty of it with others. Altenbrauch Farm

Located only 8 miles from Hocking Hills State Park, Altenbrauch Farm features 62 acres of open fields, small streams and wooded hills intersected by a lonely country road.  Aside from our house, there are no neighbors in sight.  Easily pitch your tent in an open field or trek through the hills and hollows to find your perfect campsite.As part of Ohio's famous Hocking Hills Region, Vinton County is home to the second largest state forest, in addition to multiple state parks and wildlife areas. You’ll encounter abandoned historical sites and relics dating back to the early 1800s, hidden away among the wooded hills of Ohio’s least populated county. If you're a lover of outdoor recreation, this is the place to be. Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding.  Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like!  There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle.  The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating.  Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere.  Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Any trash packed onto the property must be bagged and taken with you.
