The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 8 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels.     Edge of the Ledge Camp is a 4 site primitive campground on ground is located in a mature oak hardwood forest that offers bright light under a full forest canopy. In our many camping adventures over the years our favorite campgrounds were in our National Forests. We have built the campground with that "feel" of a forest experience. We provide a drinking water station, 2 clean sit arewidely spaced and offer considerable privacy. There is great scenic motor touring from Spring Mountain, the highest point in the county, across the Mohawk Dam, to riverside drives, scenic backroads and a ride across a covered bridge! Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself! See us on Facebook at Edge of the Ledge Camp. The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace *Plan Ahead and Prepare *Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit. *Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies. *Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use. *Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups. *Repackage food to minimize waste. *Use a map and compass or GPS to eliminate the use of marking paint, rock cairns or flagging. (this is a challenging one for us...any suggestions?) *Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow. *Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams. *Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary. In popular areas: *Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites. *Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy. *Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent. In pristine areas: Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails. Avoid places where impacts are just beginning. Dispose of Waste Properly Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter. Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished. Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products. To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater. Leave What You Find Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them. Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species. Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches. Minimize Campfire Impacts Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light. Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires. Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand. Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes. Respect Wildlife Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them. Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers. Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely. Control pets at all times, or leave them at home. Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter. Be Considerate of Other Visitors Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience. Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail. Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock. Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors. Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises. These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. Trails are great for hiking. There is limited shade so it is recommended that you bring a pop up tent for extended shade if you would like. The spots close to the creek will hold water after rains. We are ok with you finding high dry ground and camping if that is the case. Everything is carry in and out on this property right now.     The family and I truly enjoyed our stay at Pleasant Valley Farm. We stayed at site 2 Peaceful Stream and it was nice and secluded yet easy to access. The cinnamon rolls are an absolute must! Some beautiful hiking all around the property and we really long enjoyed saying high to pigs. Shelia and her family were very kind and welcoming, they lent us with an item we forgot and it was very helpful! The hot water and sink in the community area was a fantastic amenity and the porter potty was the cleanest we have ever seen. Fantastic stay, beautiful farm, highly recommend!

    My kids and I just got back from the United cabin on PJ and Michelle's property and I can't say enough wonderful things about the property, cabin and our hosts! This is a stunning little oasis to unplug from reality and chill out. My kids, 16 and 14, really enjoyed hanging out and fishing and disconnecting. They didn't even fight, lol! My little dogs had a blast checking out the property as well! PJ and Michelle were just gracious hosts and awesome people to boot. It felt like we were staying with family and we were truly honored to stay at your dad's beautiful oasis in the woods. Thanks so much again and I can't wait to be back and unplug!!!

    I stayed for 1 night while I was fishing in the area. Nice farm and nice host. The spot for RVs is flat and easy to get to. She showed me where everything is on the property and supplied me with some wood for a fire. I will stay here again if I’m in the area.

    Perfect campsites with lots of privacy! The showers were very nice and the water was very warm. The road to the sites definitely requires 4wd but is easy to navigate. We would love to go back in the future!

    We really enjoyed our stay at Turkey Hollow. It was peaceful and private. You could see the stars clearly and listen to the night bugs sing. We tent camped and the sites easily accessible and we were secluded from other nearby campers. I would recommend Matt's destination if you're looking for peace and quiet.

    Weekend Trip to Pleasant Valley Farm Camp
    We had a great time camping in our rooftop tent at Pleasant Valley Farm. The property and amenities were as described except for one benefit we weren’t expecting: the listing said potable water was available, so we were anticipating a hand pump or spigot. Instead, there was a utility sink in the pavilion with hot and cold running water. It made everything related to meal cleanup and showers that much simpler. The only downside for us was that while the camping area generally was mostly shaded, our specific site was open to the sun from about 9am to around 6pm, and since it was sunny the weekend we visited, it got quite hot. That said, we’d simply prepare differently for that possibility in the future because we enjoyed ourselves so much and we want to visit the area again in the future.

    Sheila and Jana and the Pleasant Valley Farm were fantastic. The site was large and secluded for its proximity to the parking area and the wash station/ restroom. The cinnamon rolls were amazing and the 7 year old’s favorite part. The short walking trails provided a nice view of the rolling hills and the sunset. Visiting the farm animals was a nice change of pace from your typical state park. We were even able to purchase some fresh green beans and peppers to bring home. We would definitely go back.

    This is one of the best sites I've ever camped at. Secluded, wooded trails, fire rings, pet friendly and clean bathrooms. Tim was such a gracious and kind host. I have already told a few friends about it. I would absolutely recommend camping at Tim's "Edge of the Ledge"!

    We recently had our first-ever glamping experience at Canvas Cottages, and I can confidently say it set an impossibly high bar. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this wasn't just a place to stay—it was a truly special, detail-oriented experience. We stayed in the magnificent Bombay Belle, which was far more than just a tent; it was a huge, luxurious, and perfectly equipped sanctuary. The hosts have literally thought of every single thing you could possibly need, all while maintaining a commitment to sustainability. The entire space was spotlessly clean and felt incredibly comfortable. What truly made our stay so relaxing and memorable were the incredible amenities and activities. We spent our days by the fire pit, tried our hand at fishing, and had a blast with the classic nostalgic games. The unique activities like tomahawk throwing and archery added a fun, adventurous twist to the getaway. We also loved the secret library, which was such a cool touch! Beyond the beautiful accommodations and activities, the hosts were absolutely lovely people who made us feel so welcome. Their wonderful dog, Spirit, was an absolute joy and a perfect companion to the serene surroundings. This was more than just a trip—it was a chance to disconnect and fully immerse ourselves in a beautiful, peaceful environment. We left feeling completely refreshed and are already planning our return. If you're looking for an unforgettable glamping experience, look no further than Canvas Cottages.

    This was our second trip back to the Peaceful Stream site with a group of friends, including kids from age 3 to 6. It’s a fantastic spot that is secluded enough to feel private, but close enough to the parking area that it isn’t too tough to bring equipment back to the site. The wagons that Shelia provided made things so much smoother! The site itself is fantastic. It’s wooded enough have to have good shade, while having enough open sky to see the stars. The little creek running behind the site was awesome for the kids to play in. We really appreciated being able to purchase firewood and delicious cinnamon rolls to have on site. We will definitely be returning!
