Pooh’s Corner

9 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Watkins Glen, NY
WELCOME to Pooh's Corner- We hope you enjoy Pooh's Corner as much as we enjoy having all of you great Hipcampers sharing our beautiful Fingerlakes Region with us. Pooh's Corner lies in a rural area just 1.5 miles from Watkins Glen. (3315 County Road 28, Watkins Glen, NY 14891). We took great care to make sure each campsite is PRIVATE (parking on-site*) and the trails are easily navigable. Our 'Welcome Shed' is equipped with a compost toilet, local information, (newly added) Hot Water Station, first-aid kit, charging station, bug spray etc. and is located in a safe, well lit, open area on the property. Each site is equipped with a fire pit and comfortable seating with tables, chairs, and/or picnic tables and tripod grills. Firewood is available on a donation basis. There are State Parks and places to hike one of the many gorges around beautiful Seneca Lake and surrounding area. Take a tour of the many wineries and breweries which our region is famous for. Enjoy hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, and many historical sites to see. Our reviews tell it all. We know you'll love it here :) *PLEASE NOTE: Our sites are custom made for TENT or CAR camping. Because we have "parking on-site", Large RVs, Campers (over 16'), and any 5th-wheel campers are very difficult to place since there are no easy ways to back in or turn around. We highly recommend "Havana Glen State Park" (same general area) for those types of camping units.

Ithaca Artsy Bunkhouse

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Ithaca, NY
Stay in our cozy, heated and well insulated, artsy cabin. We're located on a quiet woodsy dead end street with tons of bird life and acres of nature to enjoy. Walking trails are right out the back gate! There is also frog pond and campfire pits to enjoy. Marshmallows and roasting sticks provided. The bunkhouse is less than 2 miles to the center of Ithaca where there is plenty to do! including taking advantage of the new bike share program and waterfront trails. Definitely come hungry, Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than NYC and LA.!! Were also just 12 min across town to Cornell University and Ithaca College and 5-20 minutes from numerous amazing waterfalls. The available half bathroom is in the main house, just seconds from the cabin and is open to use 24 hrs. The heated bunkhouse has 2 twin mattresses in the loft, and several blankets and pillows, but you need to BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS and pillow CASES as you wish. Firewood is $5 per fire, starters materials included, marshmallows are in the end table drawer! There are roasting sticks near the cabin door and out by the far fire pit. You can select the campfire wood option here or pay in cash in the cabin. Feel free to bring your own fire wood and pay nothing to enjoy a campfire. if you need any help starting a fire, we can help. We have a sweet fluffy orange cat who roams the property. His name is kitty kitty :) He's fearful of dogs, and is wary of visitors since they might be harboring one! If you have a pup with you, please keep them leashed at least around the main house and cabin. We are also have a very sweet dog, Beya-- (pronounced Bay-yuh). She is the nicest person you'd hope to meet and although she may bark a little the first time you come in to use the bathroom she's just letting us know you have arrived- and will be very happy to have you greet her. She doesn't jump up, growl, or have any negative behavior with people --other than getting underfoot in the kitchen!. There isn't a shower included in the stay unless you are here for multiple days and have spoken with us about it...but you can definitely wash up with hot water and soap, in the half bath --hand towel provided. The cabin has air conditioning for summer use so no worries about being too warm to sleep well. (and of course there is electric heat in the winter) The location is Beautiful in all seasons! Cross country skiing is possible in the winter but bring your own gear. ** We have also have for sale our just published 100 Things To Do In Ithaca before You Die-- book, let us know if you want one and we can have one ready for you upon your arrival. 18$ ---see the photo and blurb in photo section of our listing If there's something else you need for your stay, just ask! We are pretty flexible and can probably help out.

Climbing Vine Yurt

1 site · Lodging5 acres · Newfield, NY
I grew up on this land hiking the gorge, playing in waterfalls and riding horses in the pasture. After traveling throughout Europe, the Middle East and India and living in San Francisco I came back home to build a house here so my children could also experience the beauty of living close to nature. Family members helped to build the yurt which originally served as the school house for my children's gardening program. My dad and I are avid gardeners and orchardists. It's our pleasure to offer warm hospitality to travelers seeking a unique yurt experience!Learn more about this land:Climbing Vine Cottage is a custom-designed yurt nestled in an organic vegetable and perennial flower garden near our home. The yurt features a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen (includes chocolate and freshly roasted coffee) with seating for 6. The bathroom is stocked with towels, local soap, shampoo, etc. Sleeping accommodations include a lovely master bedroom (full size bed) with flat screen tv for dvds, fold out futon bed in the living room (full size) and two twin beds in the loft. The yurt stays cozy in winter months with a thermostat-controlled wood pellet stove (pellets are provided). The stone patio offers outdoor dining, a gas grill and a fire pit. There's a path through the wildflower field to a beautiful nature preserve which connects to Van Buskirk Gorge with many waterfalls. Guests are welcome to gather vegetables from the garden and fruit at the orchard. Sometimes our hens have eggs you can collect. High speed wireless internet is also included.

Starlight Camping

2 sites · Tents6 acres · Brooktondale, NY
Our property was once farmland and owned by the awesome couple who now live across the road. There is a pond and a pavilion located at the bottom of the property and below our house. I just learned that one of the owners' original visions for the land was for camping and that is what the pavilion was intended for. We are getting back to our lands' original purpose and I am very excited for this venture. I am working cleaning, clearing and on adding sites that will all have fire rings and soon a table as well. Long term plans are to continually upgrade some sites so they become more appealing to the non-campers- now called glamping. For now we are primitive and offer fishing, walking, biking, stargazing and grilling from the campground. Access to Wi-Fi (depending on site) water and electric is central but available. You can walk/bike to Brookton's market or to the nearby spring to cool down, picnic or fish. From there, all the wonders of the Fingerlakes and Ithaca awaits!Learn more about this land:We are 6 miles east Ithaca. There are several hiking trails near the camping site as well as an abundance of waterfalls to find in the area. Fishing here

Waterfall camping near Elmira with wifi provided guide

Overview

A hidden gem in Upstate New York, Elmira is more than just a quiet riverside town near Corning. It's a camper's paradise. Pitching a tent here means waking up to steep gorges, waterfalls, and the awe-inspiring Finger Lakes. Boating, hiking, and gliding over lakes in a sailplane are all in a day's adventure.

For enchanting landscapes, check out Watkins Glen State Park. A stream with 19 waterfalls passes through a 200-foot gorge in one of New York's most impressive displays. Want to set up camp here? The park offers wilderness cabins and a sprawling campground with restrooms and hot showers.

In Watkins Glen, outdoor fun is in rich supply. Hiking trails meander below the cliffs and along the rim. When you're legs are tired, jump in the seasonal swimming pool or have lunch in the glen at the picnic tables.

A short drive north brings you to the Finger Lakes region. The easiest to access from Elmira is Seneca Lake, a haven for boating and fishing. Make a detour on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail for some wine tasting at the region's first-rate wineries. You can also stop to gawk up at Montour Falls.

Of course, there's a lot to do right in Elmira. Ride the trolley, or visit the study and grave of Mark Twain. If you want to try your luck, cast a line on the Chemung River. (Don't forget your state fishing license!)

For more state park camping around Elmira and Corning, check out Newtown Battlefield State Park and Buttermilk Falls State Park. You can also find private RV parks and family campgrounds nestled among farms, woods, and ranches. Want to camp in style? Consider booking a rustic cabin, yurt, or cottage.

Elmira has something to offer in every season. For a summer trip, be sure to book your campsite early—the crowds are no joke. The rush tends to die down in the winter when the heavy snowfall makes for great cross-country skiing.
