From the soaring heights of the Guadalupe Mountains to the subterranean depths of Carlsbad Caverns, Whites City delivers one of the most stunning road-trip stops for campers in the United States. Trek through the network of caves in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, just west of Whites City. Back above ground in the Chihuahuan Desert, spot flowering cacti and kangaroo rats. Set up tent sites in the backcountry here, or check in at RV parks in town or dispersed RV camping on the neighboring Bureau of Land Management (BLM) territory. Driving 30 miles southwest of Whites City into Texas is Guadalupe Mountains National Park—another terrific option for RV and tent camping in the region. Developed camping areas offer amenities like potable water, flush restrooms, and picnic tables by pull-through RV sites for big rigs up to 55 feet in length. Soak in the starry nights and then hike the arduous Guadalupe Peak Trail to the highest natural point in Texas at over 8,700 feet above sea level.
