Nestled outside the village of Stillwater, NJ right across the Appalachian trail and the Kittatinny Mountain Ridge, Camp David sports three luxurious log cabins: > Bell's Cabin- Main cabin that sleeps up to six > The Chatham House- Sleeps up to ten > Chief's Cottage- sleeps up to ten All cabins have their own separate listing and can be booked together or combined. The main cabin, Belle's Cabin, is made from hand hewed logs and is the only cabin furnished with a king size bed. All cabins come equipped with full bathrooms, updated kitchens, wood stoves, and the main cabin has a walkout porch on the second floor. All cabins have climate controlled heating/cooling units as well as hot water. Camp David was originally a German hunting camp at the turn of the 20th century. It was later donated to the Boy Scouts in the 1940’s. By the 2000’s, it was left abandoned at which time I purchased it and began to restore it back to its true form while maintaining the cabin life integrity. I am a contractor and arborist by trade and the last ten years I have worked hard to bring the site back to life. The camp consists of 13 acres abutted by 100's of acres of state park land. There are two stocked ponds connected by a cascading stream, multiple fire pits with seating, furnished gazebo with wood stove, picnic tables, and multiple park benches located throughout the property. The Terry is an adorable vintage 1970’s camper trailer nestled in the back corner secret garden area of Marina 59, a marina on the bayside of Far Rockaway, Queens, NYC filled with creative structures, beautiful boats and wonderful wildlife. The RV has a queen size bed that comfortably fits 2. There is a new, powerful AC, a toaster oven, a fridge, a hot water kettle, and all the kitchen basics. The bathrooms, with large comfortable showers, are a quick walk away at the Marina entrance. Your rental includes parking in the marina lot and a clicker to come and go as desired. Outside the doors, there’s a decent super market, a Dunkin’ Donuts, and a gas station. The beach is only three blocks away. The beach where numerous surf lessons take place is 9 blocks away. We are close to JFK airport - super convenient, but you will hear some plane traffic overhead. We're the perfect spot to stay if you have a layover at the airport and want to head to the beach. The marina is also home to Sail Rockaway, that has sailing lessons and trips along the beautiful Jamaica Bay. Great birdwatching as well because we are located at the edge of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. It's truly a magical spot! In addition, I've opened a shipping container store, Tree Rock NYC, right by the bathroom. Please stop in and check us out! The Terry is a perfect retreat for surfers, sun lovers, bird watchers and anyone who loves to enjoy all that Rockaway has to offer. My in-laws had such a lovely stay at The Terry—they were totally taken by its rustic charm. It’s cozy, comfortable, and full of character, with everything you need for a beachy retreat: a comfy queen bed, strong AC, and a little kitchenette for simple meals. They appreciated that the bathrooms and showers are a short walk away, but what really makes this spot a treasure is its location and general vibe. The marina is a hub of creative people who are friendly and welcoming, with an eclectic mix of sailboats, fishing boats, live-aboards and handmade structures that are lit up and twinkly at night. It’s a magical little artist enclave on the water. And Rockaway Beach is just three blocks away; a city beach miracle. The water was the perfect temperature when they visited in late July, the people-watching was excellent, and we saw dolphins just off shore on several occasions. Yes, you’ll hear overhead planes from nearby JFK, but honestly, you stop hearing them pretty quickly and the convenience of the beach and the marina vibe more than makes up for it. Plus Siri is a total delight!

The Rockaway Marina is a unique location in all of New York and this Hipcamp site gives you the opportunity to experience it from the inside! it's amazing to be super close to the beach and all the fun spots in Rockaway and also to be able to explore the Bayside - from the Marina, the amazing host can help you rent a boat, take sailing lessons, or rent a stand up paddle board. The camper is super cute, very accessible from the A train and amazingly, air conditioned! It makes sleeping through a hot summer's night very doable. Be forewarned... The Marina is also in the heart of New York City! So you might hear some sirens, barking dogs...and maybe a party! in fact, you might get invited to that party. 😃 The Marina is a very friendly community. And since the Marina is across from the airport, you will hear airplanes, just like you do at the nearby beach. I used earplugs one night and that helped.

We had a great weekend in the chief’s cabin as a group of four. It truly could not have been any nicer and still be considered a cabin. The furniture and construction gives the cabin a great smell that reminds you you’re in the woods even as you’re soaking in a copper tub and surrounded by air conditioning. The site features multiple large fire pits and a full stock of wood and kindling for burning. We visited crater lake but be prepared for an almost 40 minute drive despite it being only a mile away by hiking trail. Dave is a kind and well informed host and we felt completely safe, comfortable, and secluded at his property.

Plenty of beautiful space on the property! The ponds are a particularly a wonderful and beautiful feature (good for fishing!). The campfire area is shared between the three cabins. Very close to good hiking, Delaware Watergap Area and 20 minutes from downtown Newton.
