Nestled on the ridgeline of the 3rd Watchung Mountain, the property sits above The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. You'll be in a neighborhood, for sure, but a quiet one with lots of room for people and pets to stretch. The property has a 3000 square foot Summer wildflower field with a cozy tent spot in the center. There is also a grand flat grass area for setting up multiple tents. A 100-foot dog trolley run spans the land so your fluffy can run and stay close, too. Numerous outdoor chairs and tables are set up in various spots to best enjoy the land. There is a fire pit and free firewood available. Use of up to two 8-foot single kayaks or a single 17-foot canoe is available. The Passaic River has a number of drop-in spots nearby and Round Valley and Spruce Run reservoirs are a short drive. Hiking trails go throughout the Great Swamp. They have a terrific education center and the famous Raptor Trust.

We had an amazing weekend under the shade tree at Brendan’s. He was incredibly accommodating, and the land was beautiful from sunrise to sunset. It felt perfectly secluded yet still only 10 minutes from town. My only regret was not bringing my fishing pole!

Kurt was responsive and thoughtful. The space is quiet and rustic, but has lighting, tables, electrical access, and a fire pit. This is a good spot for solo or small group camping.

Weekend Trip to Pyour Pastures

Brendan's land is beautiful. If you're looking to enjoy nature, the beauty of the animals that live among it and Brendan's working farm, this is the place!!! His goats and chickens were a short walk away and worth the smiles they provide. The views of the pastures and mountains were a great backdrop for the end of one day and start of another and if you're looking for walks or hikes, there is plenty of land and numerous trails within 10 minute drive. Brendan was very accommodating and very welcoming. The bathroom he provides on the property was also appreciated, nothing like a nice shower after a full day of activities. This was one of the best experiences..... definitely going back!!!

Weekend Trip to Wildflower Hill

We booked a last minute trip to Kurt’s land and he was kind enough to get the campsite ready for us on short notice! It’s in a quiet and safe area that’s centrally located to a lot of places to visit, especially if you’re interested in wildlife with it being just minutes from a National Wildlife Refuge and the raptor center. Kurt was helpful and his suggestions of places to visit were great! There is lots to explore in the area, we stayed for two nights and still have plenty of things we’d like to go back and check out! Some things we really enjoyed in the area: Great Swamp NWR, the Cross Estate Gardens/Morristown Historic Park (both free), the bagels at Craft Bagel Co, the pastries at Bakehouse in Madison.
