Our 2 acre property and home is located in the center of the small town of Leverett. We have a private camping spot located down by the stream. We are near a paved road with moderate traffic. The property abuts many acres of woods and there are a number of great walking trails nearby. A half-mile walk behind the house takes you through the forest to an outlook on Leverett Pond. The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower. Leverett Pond has a public boat launch nearby. We have canoes, paddles, and lifejackets available for rent--inquire for details! The area has excellent bike riding as well. We enjoy all these activities and are happy to share further destinations, routes, and suggestions!

There are several options for setting up your tent. You will be the only ones at Fernwood, or Fernwood 2 unless we happen to be up working on the land.  No matter where you set up you'll have your own private fire pit, and level ground for your tent(s).  Come and enjoy a quiet retreat, or use Fernwood as a base for many outdoor activities-biking, fishing, hiking-all nearby.  Natchaug Forest offers great trout fishing.  Goodwin State Forest is less than 3 miles away by car where you can put in a canoe on Pine Lake, amble through the wildflower and pollinator gardens, or enjoy the Education Center and Museum. From Goodwin, you can access the Air Line State Park Bike/Hiking Path.  Hampton also has a general store that has simple food, frozen dinners that Kara will heat up for you, gifts, and awesome Ice Cream Sodas! Located close to the start line for the PMC, and a short distance from the Mid State Trail and other hiking and biking trails, as well as state parks and recreation areas for fishing swimming and boating.

3 nights at Streamside Camping in Leverett!

The tent camping area was really cool. Could hear a wide array of wildlife at night. A fire pit was set up with stump seats that we loved winding down the night at. Stayed here for quality access to Farley Ledges and wasn’t disappointed.

We loved staying here! Secluded, quiet, beautiful trees and sweet stone fire pit. The owners are incredibly kind! We have a 20’ trailer and truck and backing in was a bit tricky with trees and rocks but worth it! Very level! We will come back!

Absolutely gorgeous and remote location! Dark enough to see the stars, quiet enough to count every cricket, frog, & owl lulling you to sleep. Didn't see or hear a single car or person the entire time we were there. There's also a beautiful nature reserve up the road that opens up deeper into the woods! Alan's a very kind and thorough host, providing firewood, porto-potty, and water to wash up with. The property is very well-maintained, with moss & soil soft enough to walk bare-foot.

We had a wonderful stay on Alan’s land. The camp was well kept, with freshly laid wood chips. Alan’s stocked and wood and water was a big plus. The porta potty was immaculate. But most of all it was so quiet and private. That is until Abner, a neighborhood mule out of nowhere let out a crazy, unexpected bray which was actually pretty awesome; never heard anything like it.

Stayed labor day weekend with our dog. Nice quiet spot - off the road but still secluded enough. Site was large and includes fire-pit, picnic bench, and portapotty(clean with tp). 2 crates of firewood for 2 nights was plenty enough. There’s 2 state parks within a few min drive, I enjoyed natchuag more than Goodwin (the trails were too overgrown during this time). Overall a good experience- thank you Alan for the stay!

This was our first Hipcamp experience and let me tell you, we couldn't have picked a better one. When we got to what looked like a dirt cattle trail, we stopped and asked a farmer if he knew Allen. "I do." And would you know where Fernwood 2 is? "I do. Drive another 50 feet and turn right." What a beautiful little spot. The cleanest, nicest smelling portable john I have ever seen. We plan to come south again next year and Fernwood 2 will be on our itinerary. Allen and his wife were gracious and very friendly.

Weekend Trip to Streamside Camping in Leverett!

It rained and they let us hang out under a covered porch for a yurt site they had. Thankfully the yurt wasn't rented. We were able to hang out, cook our meal and wash our dishes all while staying dry. Our tent was down by the stream which was a nice site.

5 nights at Fernwood on Alan F.’s Land

We stayed for five days, it was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful property, nice quiet surroundings. Plenty of great fishing spots in town and neighboring towns. Can’t express how secluded it feels. Alan was great, very nice man and you can tell how much pride he takes in his land. If you’re looking to get away and unplug from everything I couldn’t suggest a better place to do it. Also make sure you get some coffee cake from the Hampton General Store only a few minutes away.

Fernwood 2 is a beautiful site with accessible hiking trails and an open view of the sky above the fire pit - which was perfect for stargazing. We forgot our fold-up table, but the provided picnic table was more than perfect for our needs.

Lovely stay! Our camp spot was right next to the road and across from some houses, but don't let that deter you! It was so quiet and we saw only one car drive by our entire stay and didn't see anyone else! We heard a donkey close by which my son thought was super cool! Alan was great at communicating and had a phone call with us to explain how to get there and what's provided there. Was super useful! Loved visiting James Goodwin State Forrest just down the road as well.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at Alan's campsite. There was a clean porta potty on site and very private. It was my grandson's 2nd camping experience. Poor little guy cried when we has to leave :-(
