Easy Come Easy Go - right off 302 and has a circular gravel driveway easy for RV pull-in with a picnic table and fire ring. --------------------------------------------- Located in Bethlehem at the top of the White Mountains close to endless hiking and biking. Both downtown Bethlehem and Littleton are within a 15 minute drive, supplying many choices for food and shopping. Rainy and need more options? Take the beautiful 1 hour drive to North Conway and visit the big outlet stores. Want more scenery and hiking? Take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamagus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 56 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Twenty minutes east you can get to the Mount Washington Cog Railway and will pass the Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

Carter's Cross Country Ski Center and Shop has been a family-owned business since 1984. The land on which the trails have been built on has been in the Carter family since the late 1700's. The first Carter who came to Bethel was the first doctor in the area that helped Mollyocket, a Native American medicine woman. All the different generations that came along after were either farmers or loggers or both. Carter's XC Ski Center is located on the banks of the Big Androscoggin River. Our private established skiing/walking trails meander through the Maine woods all the way up to Farwell Mountain, overlooking Sunday River Ski, the Presidential and Mahoosuc Mountain Ranges and Mt. Washington. Nearby is Middle Intervale Farm, owned by John Carter, who produces his own vegetables and meat. He has a small, self-serve farm stand right on Intervale Road, next to Carter's. Guests can enjoy the property's views and amenities, such as hiking, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, bird watching, and relaxing. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an ecofriendly, Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Most the time you can drive to the site but if its been raining alot you will park by the road, grab a cart (if needed) in the red shed and walk 2 min through the field (mowed walkway) to your specific site. Please put carts back in the shed for the next hipcampers to use. Thanks! ALSO checkout our RV friendly sites at Stagecoach falls a couple miles away! To get to your reserved site go around the red shed and follow the mowed path through the field until it splits into three paths. Site one is to the left. Site 2 the middle path. Site 3 and 4 are the right path. Even though we haven't seen any there are bears in New Hampshire so: Secure coolers, grills, cooking utensils, any food not in use, snacks, and anything with food odors inside the locked compartment of a vehicle or trailer or a bear proof storage locker if available. Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking. Do not keep food/snacks in or around your tent!

Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary

The Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary was generously bequeathed to the Kennebec Land Trust in November 2016 upon owner Kendra Wakefield Shaw’s passing. Its 108-acres feature historic cabins and 4000 feet of frontage on Cobbossee Stream in West Gardiner. The property’s coniferous and deciduous woods, vernal pools, and marshlands are important habitat for many species of birds, mammals, and plants. In 2018, the Maine Cabin Masters renovated two of the stream-side cabins, which now serve as rustic getaways for Hipcampers and the like. A small dock and canoes are available for use on the wide and deep flatwater stream! *NEW 2024 - A dock has been added to cabin 2, so each cabin now has it's own private dock. Please carry-out your trash after your stay. Thank you! Due to the sensitive wildlife habitat - no dogs are allowed at either cabin. Sacred Nectar rests on the land of the Wabanaki Tribes. This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's most treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an ecofriendly, Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Most the time you can drive to the site but if its been raining alot you will park by the road, grab a cart (if needed) in the red shed and walk 2 min through the field (mowed walkway) to your specific site. Please put carts back in the shed for the next hipcampers to use. Thanks! ALSO checkout our RV friendly sites at Stagecoach falls a couple miles away! To get to your reserved site go around the red shed and follow the mowed path through the field until it splits into three paths. Site one is to the left. Site 2 the middle path. Site 3 and 4 are the right path. Even though we haven't seen any there are bears in New Hampshire so: Secure coolers, grills, cooking utensils, any food not in use, snacks, and anything with food odors inside the locked compartment of a vehicle or trailer or a bear proof storage locker if available. Wipe off picnic tables and grills. Properly discard aluminum foil used for cooking. Do not keep food/snacks in or around your tent!

A Frame to Rest In - a new addition which is a tiny A-Frame structure close to, but separate from the Fireplace site and shares a driveway. 3.) Easy Come Easy Go - right off 302 and has a circular gravel driveway easy for RV pull-in with a picnic table and fire ring. --------------------------------------------- Located in Bethlehem at the top of the White Mountains close to endless hiking and biking. Both downtown Bethlehem and Littleton are within a 15 minute drive, supplying many choices for food and shopping. Rainy and need more options? Take the beautiful 1 hour drive to North Conway and visit the big outlet stores. Want more scenery and hiking? Take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamagus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 56 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Twenty minutes east you can get to the Mount Washington Cog Railway and will pass the Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.
