Our site is just up the road from some of the most famous hikes, overlooks, swimming holes, formations, and ski resorts in New England—and 25 minutes from the Kancamagus Highway, connecting the eastern and western White Mountains and counted among the most scenic drives in America. You will never run out of things to do in any season or weather. This site is less than 15 minutes from Cannon Mountain, Echo Lake Beach, Profile Lake, Mt. Lafayette, and less than 25 minutes from Flume Gorge, Clark's Trading Post, the seasonal Ice Castles, downtown Lincoln, the Hobo Railroad, North Woodstock, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Mt. Washington, the Cog Railway, and so much more. Our 5-acre forest features just a single private campsite, with a huge tenting platform, granite fire pit, and a rocky creek passing right by the site. From the two-car parking area, a 200-ft. trail winds through the woods, over a wooden stream crossing, and ends at the site itself set far back from the road. Modern conveniences are also close by. It's 5 minutes to the nearest grocery / convenience store, 5 minutes to Rek-Lis Brewing, 4 minutes to Super Secret Ice Cream (James Beard Award nominee), 13 minutes to Polly's Pancake Parlor (our favorite) and countless other restaurants. 17 minutes to the nearest medical facility. Other Notes and Important Things: - Please pack out all trash. Cleaners are in high demand in this region and we will have to charge a steep retroactive cleaning fee if any trash is left at the site. - Likewise please let us know ASAP if trash is present when you arrive. - The tenting platform is 12 ft. wide on its narrowest edge. It's flat and dry, but there are no anchor points for stakes or lines. Freestanding tents are best, or you may want to pack extra-long guy lines. - Don't forget the bug spray, especially in Summer! That goes for all campsites in the White Mountains, especially creekside ones like ours. - A portable toilet with privacy tent is available at the back of the site. Please use the provided trash bags as liners and pack them out if used. Odor-absorbing pine shavings are provided. - Please observe quiet hours between 9PM and 9AM everyday. - Cell coverage is surprisingly strong here. The right to roam, also called the right of access, or everyman's right(“allemannsretten”) is a traditional right from ancient times, and since 1957 has also been a part of the Norwegian Outdoor Recreation Act. It ensures that everybody gets to experience nature, even on larger privately owned areas. In our travels to Norway, we learned of this law and loved the concept so much we brought it back with us to America. Yet we had no land to offer. So, we searched...and searched....and searched some more. Then we found what would become camp Streife. 20 acres of uncut timber growth forest, tucked in the hills of Rumford Maine. With a nearby brook, pond and within 20 minutes of some of our favorite ski locations it was just right. The rules of this law are simple. Be considerate and thoughtful. Don't damage nature and other surroundings. Leave the landscape as you would want to find it. Leave no trace. You may put up a tent, or sleep under the stars, for the night anywhere in the countryside, forests or mountains, as long as you keep at least 500 feet away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. This rule of 500 feet distance also applies to camping cars and caravans. If you want to stay for more than two nights in the same place, you must ask the landowner's permission, except in the mountains or very remote areas. Well, we've taken care of all those Allemannsretten rules for you. We invite you to our small part of the world and encourage you to exercise your right to roam. We are Brad and Christine, and we are excited to share our off grid pocket of eastern forest. This magical site overlooks a mountain spring fed brook. The thick moss practically glows on the rocks, as the brook runs under a thick canopy of trees. As the brook leaves our land, it passes under a centuries old, hand hewn, granite bridge. All of which can be seen from the site. What can't be seen is houses, street lights, or traffic. The sky at night offers wonderful views of the heavens, undiluted by ambient human light. The property is 12 acres, surrounded by thousands of acres of private, undeveloped land. This is a rare spot, that is on the edge of wildness, but is only 9 minutes from a grocery store, pharmacy and EV charging station. Across the dirt road from us is our neighbors pasture with a changing cast of farm animals, including donkeys, horses, sheep, and pigs. We are in the Lakes region of New Hampshire. The property is in Wolfeboro, which has been attracting visitors since 1749, it is considered the oldest summer resort town in America. We are 40 minutes from downtown, on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New Hampshire. This quaint town offers shops, cafe's, restaurants, boat rentals and lake cruises. The fishing is legendary. There are many other beautiful towns to explore in this region, our personal favorite being Sandwich. This area is known for its many outdoor activities, with hiking and mountain biking trails, lakes and rivers to Kayak or canoe. We are only a few minutes drive to the Cotton Valley Rail Trail. If seeing the Atlantic ocean calls to you, we are an hour from the Maine and New Hampshire coasts, with its rocky outcroppings and sandy beaches. Recently selectively logged we discovered views of local mountains and decided to take advantage of the clearings. The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. It is too peaceful to keep to myself so come and enjoy all that Norway Maine and the surrounding area has to offer! Learn more about this land: Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Norway Lake has a public beach and boat dock. Many hiking trails nearby-Noyes Mtn, Patch Mnt, Singpole and Streaked Mtn to name a few. ATV trails (also can be used for off-road biking)onsite connect with other towns for many miles and hours of riding. Plenty of lakes/rivers for kayaking. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.

Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm

Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s. Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but will add The Vardo and two more sites as finances and our aging farmer bodies allow. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck, includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for dish washing and tooth-brushing, a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdood shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

The Queen's Property on Thomas Pond

THOMAS POND Thomas Pond is a beautiful 533-acre freshwater pond with over 7.4 miles of shoreline. Thomas Pond’s maximum depth is 64 feet, and the mean depth is 22 feet. Our guests are welcome to kayak, canoe, swim, fish, and paddle board from the shores of The Queen’s Property, or one of 5 Right of Ways on Watkins Shores Road owned by our Association. Access to your private waterfront is a short stroll through our woods. As our guest staying at The Queen's Property, you will also have free access to the Watkins Shores Road Association's boat launch. The boat launch is just a two or three minute walk down the road from your site. Our new dock is available to dock your boat during the day.. However, there is a small fee to dock your boat overnight (see "Extras") at our site. Just make sure you check for Milfoil or any other invasive plants before launching. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS NEAR CAMP Within 5 minutes of camp, you will find all the essentials, including food items, ice, firewood, goodies, gas, and RV supplies. In fact, you can even order your groceries online for pickup, (free at Hannaford Brothers Grocery and Walmart) either on your way to your campsite or when you need to resupply your camp (we would be happy to give you the details). During your stay, you may also want to take a trip off-site to explore all that the Lakes Region offers. Explore the historic oceanfront City of Portland, or the local Towns of Windham, Naples, or Bridgton. Portland is a 35 minute drive from The Queen's Property. The coastline around Portland is rugged and attractive with world-famous lighthouses dotted along its shorelines. Numerous locally owned shops and nationally recognized restaurants can be found tucked into its many harbors and shorelines. Closer to camp, enjoy strolling through the Town of Naples. Naples sits smack-dab in the middle of the Sebago Lakes Region. Sebago Lake abuts its western border and Long Lake abuts its eastern border. A short 8-minute drive from your site, Naples spoils its visitors with boat rentals, waterfront shops, and awesome restaurants. Further north is the Town of Bridgton. Bridgton is a 20-minute drive from your campsite. It offers its visitors a quaint downtown filled with local retailers, pubs, and restaurants. Enjoy the beaches of Bridgton’s Crystal Lake which sits on the edge of its downtown borders. The towns of Raymond and Windham also offer our visitors numerous restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, and gas stations. Once again, all within a short drive from your campsite (3-4 minutes). NEARBY STATE PARKS AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES If your idea of exploring is centered around outdoor activities, then Sebago Lake State Park is a 1,342-acre park that abuts the shores of Sebago Lake. It's one of Maine’s most popular parks. Located in the towns of Casco and Naples, the park is open year-round and is less than a 10 minute drive from your campsite. Within the park, you will enjoy protected forests, bike paths, and Sebago Lake beaches. Sebago Lake is a deep glacial lake, and by itself is 44 square miles of clear waters that abut Sebago Lake State Park. The park and the lake host some of Maine's’ best sandy beaches, water sports, fishing, boating, boat rentals, camping, picnic areas, boat launches, extensive woodlands, a wide array of critters, hiking trails, and walking trails. Sebago Park hosts various play areas for children with slides and swings. The summer sun is warm and the autumn colors are always abundant and beautiful. The entrance and parking lot are wheelchair accessible. If you are an avid hiker, The Queen’s Property is a short drive to numerous mountain ranges, forests, and peaks, all of which contain hundreds of miles of ATV and hiking trails. There are over 25 hiking trails within 10 miles of The Queen's Property and over 115 trails within 20 miles. Oh, and if you love winter sports you will love the Lakes Region. Numerous ski resorts, along with hundreds of miles of cross-country ski and snowmobile trails can be found throughout the area.

Live like a local less than 12 minutes from Franconia Notch. Our site is just up the road from some of the most famous hikes, overlooks, swimming holes, formations, and ski resorts in New England—and 25 minutes from the Kancamagus Highway, connecting the eastern and western White Mountains and counted among the most scenic drives in America. You will never run out of things to do in any season or weather. This site is less than 15 minutes from Cannon Mountain, Echo Lake Beach, Profile Lake, Mt. Lafayette, and less than 25 minutes from Flume Gorge, Clark's Trading Post, the seasonal Ice Castles, downtown Lincoln, the Hobo Railroad, North Woodstock, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Mt. Washington, the Cog Railway, and so much more. Our 5-acre forest features just a single private campsite, with a huge tenting platform, granite fire pit, and a rocky creek passing right by the site. From the two-car parking area, a 200-ft. trail winds through the woods, over a wooden stream crossing, and ends at the site itself set far back from the road. Modern conveniences are also close by. It's 5 minutes to the nearest grocery / convenience store, 5 minutes to Rek-Lis Brewing, 4 minutes to Super Secret Ice Cream (James Beard Award nominee), 13 minutes to Polly's Pancake Parlor (our favorite) and countless other restaurants. 17 minutes to the nearest medical facility. Other Notes and Important Things: - Please pack out all trash. Cleaners are in high demand in this region and we will have to charge a steep retroactive cleaning fee if any trash is left at the site. - Likewise please let us know ASAP if trash is present when you arrive. - The tenting platform is 12 ft. wide on its narrowest edge. It's flat and dry, but there are no anchor points for stakes or lines. Freestanding tents are best, or you may want to pack extra-long guy lines. - Don't forget the bug spray, especially in Summer! That goes for all campsites in the White Mountains, especially creekside ones like ours. - A portable toilet with privacy tent is available at the back of the site. Please use the provided trash bags as liners and pack them out if used. Odor-absorbing pine shavings are provided. - Please observe quiet hours between 9PM and 9AM everyday. - Cell coverage is surprisingly strong here. You should have direct 4G LTE access on Verizon and AT&T, and 4G extended coverage on T-Mobile / Sprint. - You may want to pack a wood splitting axe. Feel free to burn any dead, fallen, or cut wood on the premises, but all firewood must be less than 5 inches in diameter.

Recently selectively logged we discovered views of local mountains and decided to take advantage of the clearings. The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Camp Streife

Streife translated from Norwegian means roam. The right to roam, also called the right of access, or everyman's right(“allemannsretten”) is a traditional right from ancient times, and since 1957 has also been a part of the Norwegian Outdoor Recreation Act. It ensures that everybody gets to experience nature, even on larger privately owned areas. In our travels to Norway, we learned of this law and loved the concept so much we brought it back with us to America. Yet we had no land to offer. So, we searched...and searched....and searched some more. Then we found what would become camp Streife. 20 acres of uncut timber growth forest, tucked in the hills of Rumford Maine. With a nearby brook, pond and within 20 minutes of some of our favorite ski locations it was just right. The rules of this law are simple. Be considerate and thoughtful. Don't damage nature and other surroundings. Leave the landscape as you would want to find it. Leave no trace. You may put up a tent, or sleep under the stars, for the night anywhere in the countryside, forests or mountains, as long as you keep at least 500 feet away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. This rule of 500 feet distance also applies to camping cars and caravans. If you want to stay for more than two nights in the same place, you must ask the landowner's permission, except in the mountains or very remote areas. Well, we've taken care of all those Allemannsretten rules for you. We invite you to our small part of the world and encourage you to exercise your right to roam. Welcome! This spot offers a rare chance to camp by a mossy brook, with its waterfalls, whirlpools, glacial boulders, and pools. We are Brad and Christine, and we are excited to share our off grid pocket of eastern forest. This magical site overlooks a mountain spring fed brook. The thick moss practically glows on the rocks, as the brook runs under a thick canopy of trees. As the brook leaves our land, it passes under a centuries old, hand hewn, granite bridge. All of which can be seen from the site. What can't be seen is houses, street lights, or traffic. The sky at night offers wonderful views of the heavens, undiluted by ambient human light. The property is 12 acres, surrounded by thousands of acres of private, undeveloped land. This is a rare spot, that is on the edge of wildness, but is only 9 minutes from a grocery store, pharmacy and EV charging station. Across the dirt road from us is our neighbors pasture with a changing cast of farm animals, including donkeys, horses, sheep, and pigs. We are in the Lakes region of New Hampshire. The property is in Wolfeboro, which has been attracting visitors since 1749, it is considered the oldest summer resort town in America. We are 40 minutes from downtown, on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New Hampshire. This quaint town offers shops, cafe's, restaurants, boat rentals and lake cruises. The fishing is legendary. There are many other beautiful towns to explore in this region, our personal favorite being Sandwich. This area is known for its many outdoor activities, with hiking and mountain biking trails, lakes and rivers to Kayak or canoe. We are only a few minutes drive to the Cotton Valley Rail Trail. If seeing the Atlantic ocean calls to you, we are an hour from the Maine and New Hampshire coasts, with its rocky outcroppings and sandy beaches. You can't go wrong with its historic port towns like Portsmouth in NH and York, Kennebunkport, and Ogunquit, Maine.
