When this area was originally settled, the farm was located on the "highway" from Camden to seasonal pastures in Lincolnville. The trails leading to the park still go by the old foundations that dotted the old Government Road from Camden. The farm has 46 acres of flowing pasture, hardwood forest and flower and vegetable gardens. Just a short walk, is the lovely Sunrise Trail, a converted old train line, for biking, walking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding. Lakes are close by for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. There are lots of hiking trails in the area. If you're interested in touring some of the towns nearby, Lubec, Eastport, Machias, and Campobello Island are all good choices. And, they all have a hiking trail or two, and I place to have lunch.

I had a nice stay here. The privy was clean and it's only 30-40 minute drive from Bangor. The sites are on a slight grade of a hill but it isn't that bad and they each have a fire ring and picnic table with a trash can.

Beau will be part of the meet and greet committee.

Weekend Trip to Four Acre Woods Island Campground

My son (age 12) and I have been to Four Acre Woods for the last 2 years and really enjoyed it. The first year we tent camped and this year we stayed in the yurt. The campground is very small, which we like and each site is unique. Lots of amenities for such a small campground, they really think of the little things that keeps camping comfortable. The yurt was wonderful and the campsite has everything you need (we brought too much stuff). Just bring yourself, clothes, and food and you are good to go. We are fairly local, so it is a great weekend getaway, but we don't really explore the area when camping. If you want to experience the downeast Maine coast away from the more touristy spots, this is where you want to go.

We had a phenomenal time car camping under the stars here. Heather was a phenomenal host and saved (quite possibly MADE) our trip. A last minute booking led to one of our favorite memories together. We lit a fire and stargazed in her peaceful yard. Heather provided everything we needed to make the night unforgettable. Would definitely recommend you make staying here a priority. We can’t wait to come back.

Site 4 & 5 are both secluded and private. We like site #5 better because our 16ft camper van could easily back up and turn around to exit. There was a trail near our site that was lined with pine trees that gave a fragrant smell through the air. Birds congregated in the trees with soft chatter and at night it was so peaceful. Due to the ban on camp fires here, we cannot add additional comments on what that might have felt like but since we have experienced camp fires before, this probably would have been perfect. We had rain/drizzle over night waking to wet grasses in the morning but the sun quickly popped out later on. Our host was extremely friendly and accomodating upon our arrival the first night and left us with a warm feeling of kindness for our adventures aheaad. If you like the outdoors, plan on a night or two in the woods. Cell coverage was decent (AT&T).

We loved staying in the yurt! It was perfectly private, adorable, and we were surprised by the incredibly comfortable beds. This was the perfect size for our family of 5. The community room was warm (literally had a wood stove going at 6am!), stocked with coffee and hot chocolate, and hosts and the space alike were welcoming and helpful.

What a great spot! Down off a gravel road, with minimal traffic. There is a house you can barely see through the trees, but plenty of privacy. The hosts were great - good communication and even left us a goodie bag with some sweet treats and a deck of cards! (They even left us a couple of milkbones for our pups!) Would absolutely recommend!

We just needed a place to drop our rig while we were backpacking the Cutler Coast. The two nights that we slept in our rig it was peaceful and our place was undisturbed. The owner made sure to get us a spot big enough to accommodate what we needed. Having a travel trailer instead of a tent. She had to make some arrangements. But she was willing to do it.
