The land is beautiful and we had a great time. Because it had rained a day before, I would say that any 2 wheel drive vehicle may have trouble getting back up the back hill. It gets a little muddy. We would come back.

Amazing spot for a quiet secluded tent camp in a low clearing next to the creek. It’s a bouncy fun road from the gate to camp site. I considered parking inside the gate and hiking down and was able to make it in my CRV. Scott met me and was upper friendly and led me to the site and described the layout. Great host. Was fun to hike and explore the property a bit before dark. The sound of the creek was relaxing.

I can't say enough good things about this place and the hosts. Everyone mentions how friendly the hosts are and it's not an exaggeration. The property is beautiful and great to spend some time on. Close to several distilleries that you have heard of and several you haven't. Come here, stay here, love it.

My parents and my family of 5 camped for 2 nights in our small RVs at Harrican. Upon arrival, Bridgett led us to the sunset lookout spot to setup. It was so pretty and private. We had plenty of flat space to hang and play. We walked to the mile long river hike other reviewers have noted. It was a perfect total length (3.2 miles) and a water feature is always a hit on hikes with the kids. I would definitely recommend this special secluded spot to friends!

Weekend Trip to The Harrican
This property is absolutely beautiful — full of rolling hills, wide-open views, and big, mature trees that make it feel tucked away and peaceful. The layout gives everyone plenty of space; even with other campers on site, it felt private and quiet.
We camped at the top of the hill with a few tents and one small camper. The drive up has a little terrain to navigate, but it wasn’t difficult at all — we even made it in the dark without trouble. You’ll be greeted by a couple of friendly, playful dogs when you arrive, so be sure to drive slowly through the entrance.
The hosts were fantastic — very friendly and quick to respond to every message. It really made the experience feel welcoming and easy.
There’s also a nice trail within walking distance that leads down to the river. It’s a moderately rugged path but totally worth it, with a great spot to relax once you reach the bottom.
If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic spot with kind hosts and plenty of space to unwind, this Hipcamp is a gem. We’d definitely come back!

This is our 3rd stay here and we could not be happier with the place. Scott is an amazing host and this camping spot on his property is amazing. We got to see the otters plating in the creek on this trip and we had some deer visit. If you are looking for a peaceful, secluded spot to camp in this is the place. We are looking forward to our next stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay on this beautiful land with friendly and welcoming hosts. We experienced 3.75 inches of rainfall in a 24 hour period so were grateful to be offered a spot on the gravel. Very close to anything you might need with lots to see nearby. Highly recommended!

Wonderful property! Very accommodating hosts!! They had no problem with a last minute late arrival time. Plenty of room on the property to spread out. Very clean porta potty. Not too far from the interstate. We were there for less than 12 hours, so basically slept and cooked breakfast, but it was perfect for us!!

I arrived late and was able to secure a spot ASAP and with no planning. Matt was very accommodating and not only brought me firewood down to the spot, but started the fire for me! Both him and his wife checked in to make sure I had everything I needed. Traveling by myself as a woman I felt very safe there. I felt very much at peace laying in the field, next to the fire looking at the stars. Thanks for the hospitality!!

The property owner Scott was more than
accommodating in the fact that he had helped me find my lost group lol. If you're looking for seclusion and serenity you should not pass this beautiful piece of land up. It does help to have 4x4 capabilities if you want to get to the spot next to the creek. Favorite spot thus far!

We just got back from our stay here and we just absolutely adored this spot and we’re sad to go home after such a great trip.
For reference we originally booked the small spot by the pond. This spot goes straight up a hill from the driveway and we got stuck a few times trying to get up there. The spot was ok. It was on a big incline which made it hard to sleep and had a lot of bugs. After our second night we asked to move to the larger spot by the communal space and the host was amazing and let us move.
Now for all the positive things. The communal kitchen area was SO cute and helpful to have access to a proper table for meals. The bathroom was so cute and we were excited to see that there was toilet paper and hand sanitizer. We really loved the attention to detail with the communal spaces and the trail, you could tell that they really put their hearts into this space.
The spot at the top by the communal kitchen has a great big open space which was perfect for our dog to run and have the best time. We loved star gazing out in the open as there weren’t many trees blocking the sky. And there was plenty of shade provided by the big tree during the sunniest part of the day.
We can’t wait to book our next stay here and share it with our friends and family!

We had the spot close to the river. With the terrain we planned accordingly needing a 4X4 and it was dry enough that we had no issues getting in and out. The spot was perfect with space and trees for hammocks. My dog had blast playing in the creek and we even woke in the morning hearing deer down there. We stayed just a day and night but easily could see staying here for days. We very much look forward to reusing this spot.

Bluegrass Region

Appalachian Plateau
The misty peaks, sweeping gorges, and natural caves of the Appalachian Mountains blanket Eastern Kentucky. Further south, there’s rustic camping and UNESCO-listed caves to explore at Mammoth Cave National Park and popular campgrounds Green River Lake and Taylorsville Lake state parks. West Kentucky
It’s not all about bluegrass music and BBQ in west Kentucky—there’s also some great lakeside camping. There are myriad ways to get on the water at the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, from kayaking and tubing to jet skiing and waterskiing, and you’ll find campgrounds at Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and Lake Malone State Park.
