Our delightfully funny 5 acre farmstead was built by Swedish Pioneers in 1876 and we pioneered our Hipcamp on 18 June 2023. Three friendly dogs, two sheep, one goat and shy cats. Well water via hydrant and drinkable water available. Access to electricity if you have an extension cord. Borntrager Dairy

Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods. The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life. We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage. My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm. Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place. But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance. You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep. If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November). Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife. (Fair warning: if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.) We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture. There are killer sunrises and sunsets here. If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby.Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Hayland Farms is a picturesque 120-acre hay meadow in North Central Kansas, featuring pristine native grasslands and scattered groves of trees, along with a lush 40-acre alfalfa patch. This charming property is home to Tom and Heddy Mahoney and is conveniently located just a few minutes south of I-70. For those seeking a tranquil escape, the camping area is nestled within a secluded grove of cedar and cottonwood trees, offering a serene retreat. The campground is equipped with a firepit, picnic tables, and a combination shower house and toilet facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay. (Note: Shower service's at camp ground are closed seasonally during winter and months where freezing temperature are possible. Alternative shower facilities are located in the aircraft hangar apartment.) Hayland Farms is also a private aviation airport and is identified on aeronautical sectional charts as 87KS. The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by. The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees. Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people. There is also a composting toilet on site. Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffe perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower! We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

Goat milk is available seasonably. It is peaceful, calm, and quiet here at Hastago. You don't want to miss the sunrises and sunsets. You might even see some deer and turkeys pass by in the fields.
