Camp on the rich and power lava flats of the the big island! This lava plot next to the famed lava temple has very basic services. It is close to Pahoa, Uncle Robert’s Night Market, Kalani resort and many magical and hidden treasures of the newest land on earth!Since a spectacular and dramatic trip to big Island a few years back I have had hot lava, the sweetness of the people, food and the power of Maunakea running through my veins.  Equally charming and magical was my incredible host Jade who has made an off the grid home on the lava in Kalapana Gardens. Our one acre of land, located in the Big Island's Hawaiian Paradise park, may not be the biggest, but we use every inch of land we have to grow delicious fruits/vegetables and enable us to live off the grid. Our water catchment system and solar energy provides us with all that we need! The land was originally intended to be a spiritual/healing center, and although we do not practice healing methods at this time we believe the positive energy and support of both the land and its people will help you reach your highest potential.

We have a garden house for one person with its own private compost toilet and sink with a shared outdoor shower and shared screened in outdoor kitchen and community hang out room with personal mini fridge/cooler.

Must be ok following a vegetarian diet also no cooking of eggs while on the property.

It is  simple living with quiet hours from 9pm to 7 am

Hamakua Guesthouse

The Hamakua Guesthouse is located on the south end of Hawaii's breathtaking Hamakua Coast.   Established in 2012 we are easily accessible to all the Big Island attractions such as Volcanoes National Park (1 hour South), Waipio Valley (1 hour North), and the countless sights and adventures along the Hamakua Coast, it is the perfect location to base your Big Island adventure vacation.

The legendary Akaka Falls State Park is only 4 miles away from the Hamakua House. Onomea Bay is only 4 miles away, which is the home of the Hawaii Botanical Gardens. It is an unforgettable drive to get there and the bay is a wonderful place to have a picnic. We are only 1 mile (easily walkable) from the quaint main street of Honomu, HI. This town was established in the sugar cane plantation era and remains today boasting some wonderful gift shops, two restaurants, a coffee house, and the Island's best Zip Line Tours.

Guests have access to our open air full bathroom with running water and a stunning rainfall shower (located at the main house). They also have access to our covered outdoor kitchen with grills, a sink, prep space, dining area, dishes, cups, silverware, and cookware (also located at the main house). 

Hawaiian Retreat

Welcome to old Hawaii, the village of Koae, Big Island, Hawaii!  Our forest features 12 old mangos and 50 types of tropical fruit. The 6 acres includes Josanna's Organic garden, a WWOOF farm experience.  This space has hosted thousands of people over it's 38 year history and we welcome people to our island and to the district of Puna. We look forward to introducing you to the diverse and delicious fruits of the jungle!

Moon Garden Farm Getaway

Moon Garden Farm is a 25 acre farm, located off Highway 11 near the town of Mountain View.   Beautiful views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are visible on clear sunny days.  The 1500 foot elevation gives a great view of the ocean as well.   Mountain View is located between beautiful, quaint Hilo and the spectacular Volcano National Park, each about 15 miles in either direction.  

Sheep, cattle and feral pigs can be seen in the lower pasture.  There are 4 ponds and two are stocked with tilapia and catfish.  Fish nets are provided for the children.  The grounds are beautifully manicured with creative topiary's and lends itself to great photo shoots.  

Jaboticaba, bananas, lemons, calamansi, and several other fruit trees can be found on the farm.  Yours to eat when in season.

 Moon Garden Farm is a magical place and I'm sure you will feel it too.

Papa’s Hawaiian Orchid Farm

We are a commercial orchid farm starting the homestead 8 years ago. Lava caused us to evacuate 2 years ago before it stopped a mile above the farm and Malama Market. We have a lava tube on the property you can explore. It’s so tall in some places, you can drive a school bus through. Good to bring headlamps if you're interested in this and just for walking around the farm when there is no moon! We are currently constructing a wood fired pizza oven in the place where our picnic tables and eating area are located.Pitch your tent or stay in one of our rooms or junglelows in the middle of our orchid nursery. We have outdoor kitchen, hot showers and flushing toilets. Located in the heart of Puna in the country but only 10 min walk to the village of Pahoa. This area has a lot to offer including tide pools, black sand beaches, warm spring and sauna caves.
